For several years now, we have been working with Namestorm to give our products powerful and meaningful names. From the initial contact to the presentation of our products to the final naming, the contact has always been extremely friendly, open and highly professional. At any time we were informed about the current status and the process of naming within the Namestorm team.

The communication was straightforward, easy, direct and unproblematic at all times, which helped us to continue in our daily business. The results speak for themselves: all name suggestions are surprising, multi-layered and the view from the outside on our own product offers completely new possibilities. At the same time, our wishes to go to market with the name both locally and internationally were taken into account at all times. Simple, precise and ingenious.

Also helpful are the detailed explanations of the name suggestions as well as the tips for the final decision. We were able to find a name for our product right on the first try. Including checking for protected terms in the countries of the target markets. And the feedback from our customers and prospects on the names could not be more positive!

I am the managing director of an organization that rents heavy machines and trucks, for the recycling and construction industry.

What challenge were you trying to address with Namestorm?

We had a merger last year, and we needed someone to create the name and branding of one of our companies.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Namestorm was responsible for the development of our new name and branding. The initial process for the project was to identify what we wanted, our targets, and naming options. It was a good start to collect all the information up front. They did a presentation and we had a chance to sort out some names from the collected data.

Rockbird was the name that stuck in our minds so we chose that.

I was mainly in touch with Mark (Owner), but there are two other members from their team.

How did you come to work with Namestorm?

I’ve known their company for more than 10 years and we loosely kept in touch— chatting a little bit back and forth. As soon as we knew we needed to have a new name and brand for a company merger, it was clear that they would be the ones to help us with that.

The project lasted from January– March 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Our branch and customers are very traditional so the plan was to have a name and brand that everybody can recognize quickly. The feedback was really good.

How did Namestorm perform from a project management standpoint?

They were always on time, they were professional, and they did a really good presentation. They really gave us a good and practical point of view by showing us how our branding would look like.

What did you find most impressive about them?

One thing that they managed to do really well was establish a personal and professional relationship with their customers. As a service provider, they knew exactly what our core values and mission were. They asked for a lot of details and collected feedback from the entire team — it was outstanding.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything because I’ve been really happy with the results they provided.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My advice would be to just pick up the phone, give them a call, and tell them what you intend to do with the project. Once that’s done, they will take care of the process and start working.

We are a motorhome and caravan manufacturer based in Europe. I am the deputy head of marketing.

What challenge were you trying to address with Namestorm?

We wanted to create a new brand and we were looking for a name for the brand.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our portfolio is for four brands, and we wanted to create a fifth brand because our other brands are either in the low-budget segment or the high-price segment. There was some space, and the new brand would fit perfectly in this market, which is very interesting for us.

We created an internal briefing with all the information about the new brand and what our expectations were. Then, we sent the briefing to Namestorm and discussed the briefing in detail. They came back a few weeks later with suggestions for the name. This was the basic process. After we received the first suggestions, we made a decision and then we checked those suggestions for legal and trademark right issues. Then, we made a final decision on the brand name.

Mark (Owner) was our only contact, but for sure there is a team working in the background.

How did you come to work with Namestorm?

I found them through Google. It was important for us to find an agency that was not at the other end of Germany. We wanted someone close and not located more than three hours by car away from us. This was one reason we chose Namestorm, and the other reason was the value for money. We had different offers from other agencies but Namestorm’s package was the best fit for us.

We spent about $10,000 USD.

It started in June 2020, and it ended in October 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

In our company, there are many departments and approvals necessary. For example, the chief sales officer had to say okay to the new brand name. All the departments were very satisfied with the suggestions Namestorm made. This is one aspect of how we measured success. At this stage of the new brand, we have no other indicators because the brand hasn’t launched yet, and therefore, we just have internal feedback.

How did Namestorm perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicated through email and telephone calls. They are very likable people. They made good suggestions and the whole atmosphere during our phone calls was great. The suggestions and the explanations were good, and we had a good feeling about working with them.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They responded very quickly to our issues and we ended up with a good brand name. This was the core task of our collaboration with them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I haven’t had much contact with naming agencies, but our work together was good. I don’t have specific things to point to that they can improve.

I would recommend them to other companies that want to create new brand names because our experience was quite good.

They then started working on the names. Six weeks later, they sent us a pitch with all the different names they came up with.
