Michael grew up in Plainview, New York, and attended Plainview–Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School, where he focused his studies in the visual arts. A Promising Artist Scholar, Michael matriculated to the University of the Arts, formerly known as the Philadelphia Museum School of Art, from which he graduated in 2002 with a BFA in graphic design and a minor in digital fine arts. In addition, he completed a workshop in letterform design with distinguished instructor André Gürtler from Basel.
