• Goal: Separate the dev, staging and prod accounts, while implementing high-availability, disaster recovery, and security measurements.
• Considerations:
  • There’s an ongoing independent migration from Elastic Beanstalk to EKS
  • Some resources were created with Terragrunt (accounts), some with Terraform, and some with Serverless / Cloudformation
• Strategy:
  • The existing joint account will become strictly production
  • Other environments will be created in separate accounts
  • Fill in the Terraform code to create a separate fully-functional DEV environment
    • With each resource, run `plan` against production and import existing resources until it shows no changes (while maintaining production’s resources naming conventions and structure)
  • Serverless stacks will be deployed on top of the shared infrastructure created by Terraform/Terragrunt

MeteorOps helped deploy our various application environments in GCP using Terraform. They implemented a CI/CD pipeline using GitHub actions. They set up VPCs and other auth and security mechanisms as part of these deployments to prepare us for compliance.

They made helpful suggestions from the start about which tools to use and mechanisms that would be most flexible and maintainable over time. They delivered on-time and on-budget. They adapted to changing needs from our side and integrated changes into the architecture and Terraform code in response to our needs. Their responsiveness in Slack was great.

What challenge were you trying to address with MeteorOps?

We needed help auditing our SRE and DevOps culture and suggesting actionable improvements around those and in our AWS architecture.

What was the scope of their involvement?

MeteorOps has audited our SRE/DevOps culture. The team has also migrated our team to use Terraform in IAM and resource management. Currently, MeteorOps is helping us plan our ECS migration.

We’ve seen process efficiency improvements. We’ve also unblocked many engineers from having to use SSH to access EC2 and can now self-serve on the AWS platform. We’ve gone from 0 to 20 engineers who can self-serve on AWS.

MeteorOps has delivered on time. The team has given us good estimates and advice. We communicate via virtual meetings, emails, and messaging apps.

They delivered items on time through a rushed schedule and was very responsive on Slack. They were able to juggle addressing minors questions or bugs while simultaneously working on bigger tasks.

I was impressed at how quickly they were able to handle new tasks at a high quality and value. All three people I directly worked with were very intelligent and experienced.

No complaints so far , although it would be helpful once our current project finishes if those who worked on our product have proactive recommendations on additional DevOps projects / best practices we should set up

We're a small team; MeteorOps has come onboard as a peer and really excelled in delivering on our infrastructure vision. Starting with migrating our stack to being managed entirely by CI/CD, and continuing with building solutions to our needs including migrating our k8s managed services to being available on TailScale.

We did not have CI/CD for our infrastructure before working with MeteorOps, we do now. Many infrastructure changes a week (10-20) are run through this solution with minimal -> no errors.
