BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the marketing manager of Nook, a Dubai-based designer furniture and art gallery that curates European brands, local bespoke furniture, and contemporary art. We offer luxury interiors, custom joinery, and immersive design experiences for clients in the UAE.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What specific goals or objectives did you hire Messe.ae to accomplish for your business?
We hired Messe.ae to design and build our exhibition stand for Dubai Design Week 2022. As a bespoke furniture brand, the physical space needed to do more than display products — it had to embody the same standards of craftsmanship and attention to detail that Nook stands for. The goal was to create an environment where visitors could experience the brand, not just see it.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
We needed a fully built, client-ready stand — no partial deliveries, no loose ends. Messe.ae handled the complete scope: from initial concept and spatial planning to fabrication, on-site build, and final installation at Dubai Design Week 2022.The stand incorporated custom joinery elements, structured display shelving, branded wall panels, and a furnished presentation area — all aligned with Nook's material language and aesthetic positioning. Every detail had to reflect the quality we put into our own products, and the execution matched that expectation.Lighting, graphics, and dismantling were all part of the package. Messe.ae managed the full lifecycle of the stand — from build to breakdown. The lighting was integrated into the structure to complement the material palette and highlight key display areas. Branded graphics were produced and installed on-site as part of the overall execution. After the event, they handled dismantling and removal, leaving nothing for us to coordinate separately.
What is the team composition?
We worked with two teammates from Messe.ae.
How did you come to work with Messe.ae?
We found Messe.ae through a referral. We chose them over other options because they had high ratings, were close to our geographic location, had pricing that fit our budget, had a great culture fit, offered good value for cost, and had company values that aligned with ours.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked with Messe.ae in September 2022.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Success at Dubai Design Week isn't always measured in immediate sales figures — for a brand like Nook, the stand itself is the statement. The quality of execution drew consistent attention from visitors, designers, and industry peers throughout the event. The space effectively communicated what Nook stands for — precision, materiality, and considered design — which translated into meaningful conversations and brand exposure within the right audience. The stand held up visually and structurally across the full duration of the event, which for a custom build is a result in itself. The most tangible outcome was qualitative — the stand consistently stopped the right people. Architects, interior designers, and design-conscious visitors engaged with the space in a way that felt genuine rather than transactional. Several conversations initiated at the stand led to follow-up meetings and project inquiries in the weeks after the event. While we didn't track formal press mentions, the stand received organic attention on social media from attendees who photographed and shared the space. For a brand at that stage, that kind of visibility within a targeted design community was exactly the outcome we were looking for.The feedback that stood out most came from fellow exhibitors and design professionals — people who build and evaluate spaces for a living. Several commented specifically on the material consistency and the way the stand felt like a natural extension of the product, rather than a backdrop for it. That distinction matters in a design-forward event like Dubai Design Week, where the audience reads spaces critically. Hearing that the execution reflected the brand's own standards was the most meaningful validation we could have received.
How did Messe.ae perform from a project management standpoint?
Delivery was on time, and communication was clear throughout. We mainly communicated through in-person meetings, virtual meetings, and email or messaging apps.
What did you find most impressive about them?
What stood out was that Messe.ae understood the brief beyond the technical requirements — they grasped what the brand needed to look like in that space, which made the collaboration efficient. There were no last-minute surprises on installation day, and the on-site team worked cleanly and professionally. For an event with a fixed opening, that reliability is not a given — and they delivered it.The ability to translate a design-sensitive brief into a physical build without losing nuance was impressive. Many contractors execute well on the technical side but miss the aesthetic logic behind the decisions. Messe.ae held both — they understood that for Nook, the stand wasn't just a structure, it was a product in itself. That combination of construction competence and design awareness is rare, and it's what made the collaboration work.
Are there any areas they could improve?
If anything, earlier alignment on the final material samples would have streamlined the approval process — there were a few rounds of back-and-forth that could have been compressed with a more structured sign-off at the outset. That said, it's a minor process note rather than a substantive issue. The outcome wasn't affected, and the team was responsive throughout.
