Introduce your business and what you do there.

AugLi is a K–12 EdTech company focused on modern competencies. These are things like critical thinking, communication, problem-solving, and collaboration.

We have multiple arenas in our current platform, including a game mode and “superpowers” or honing multiple basic skills in a gamified way. Game mode is totally open-ended; kids can start any time and do whatever they want to do. Superpower mode is more like structured learning. 

I’m a co-founder and the CTO of the company.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Mediyum EdTech UX Design Studio?

We started the company in 2017 and built a website to test our initial hypothesis. After one and a half years of trials, we partnered with a few schools in the summer of 2019.  

We realized that it made sense to make a clean-cut B2C app with a year-round program, with less reliance on schools. We identified the UX around the gamification components, and we got in touch with multiple vendors.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We had a clear understanding of what we wanted to build, but, at the same time, we needed validation from the B2C market. We conducted ethnographic research with Mediyum for three months, to determine how parents understood the idea of skills, and how their goals aligned with the kids’.

Once we got some initial insights, we switched to building the UI/UX of the app. That’s still ongoing, as Mediyum is currently implementing features. This version of the product is mobile-only.

What is the team composition?

We worked with Saurabh (Founder) and two other people in the initial phase, and we’re working with 3–4 designers now. Saurabh interacts with us on a weekly basis.

How did you come to work with Mediyum EdTech UX Design Studio?

We reached out to multiple people, but Mediyum was recommended to us by a designer who knew Saurabh personally.

How much have you invested with them?

The cost so far is around $10,000.

The ethnographic research was a distinct component, and it was priced separately from the current project. We had two full-time resources on retainer for the initial phase, and we have an allocated amount of time with their team now.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Mediyum in August 2019, and the project is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We presented the results of the ethnographic research to an angel investment board, and we got great feedback. We’re also pleased with the designs they’ve made so far.

How did Mediyum EdTech UX Design Studio perform from a project management standpoint?

They created user flows during the first phase, which Mediyum sent to us on a weekly basis. Now, we’re primarily making refinements. We assign them stories through Jira, and we work in one-week sprints.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re able to go deep and provide good insights into the problems we present to them. They have an in-depth approach, and they can understand multiple perspectives on the user side. They come up with fresh solutions.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could benefit from increasing their team size. They’re doing a lot of projects in the tech space, and they’ll need more bandwidth.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

People thinking of working with Mediyum should let them start from scratch, rather than giving them an existing solution and trying to tweak it. That won’t do their abilities justice, and it won’t give great results.

I’m the co-founder of Venti. We provide advanced event technology solutions featuring face recognition check-ins, rapid badge printing, customizable event apps and real-time analytics to streamline and enhance event experiences for organizers and attendees.

What challenge were you trying to address with Mediyum UX Design Studio?

We needed help re-designing the UI/UX for our product's dashboard, which was becoming quite complex due to a lot of inter-dependent features.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Mediyum UX Design Studio worked on the UI/UX design of our product dashboard. They helped us figure out how to organize the application's features. We had a very complex list of interdependent features, and they helped us untangle how a user visiting our dashboard could use them intuitively. They also helped us prioritize the features.

What is the team composition?

We worked with two teammates from Mediyum UX Design Studio, a senior designer/project manager and a junior designer.

How did you come to work with Mediyum UX Design Studio?

We found them through common contacts. They offered very professional services with a methodical and research-based approach to design. Other options could produce very good-looking UI, but their UX approach was better.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from February–April 2025.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Mediyum UX Design Studio transformed our dashboard from an ugly and complex system that was difficult to use into a well-organized, easily navigable, and intuitive platform for new users. We took their services before the product launch, so we didn't have any metrics from end users, but we received positive internal feedback.

How did Mediyum UX Design Studio perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management was top-notch. They met all the deliverables on time and took the initiative to arrange meetings and track the project's progress. We communicated via email, WhatsApp, and Google Meet. They were flexible with the communication medium and suggested Slack, but we weren't used to it.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their professionalism and timely updates were impressive. They did everything with thoroughness and based on research. They clearly outlined the need for research on the requirements and set off a portion of time for it. Based on that, they created user personas and mapped different features and requirements, which helped us prioritize the most important aspects and hide away complexity.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We would have liked more involvement from senior designers in the project, but it wasn't a big deal.
