For what projects/services did your company hire McMillan, and what were your goals?

We needed to change our name due to a naming conflict with a firm in the US. We were looking to McMillan to provide us with a new name for the business as well as marketing collateral and a website to support our new identity.

How did you select this vendor?

Word of mouth.

They were to provide the following services:

• New company name
• Brand identity
• Brand guide
• Website
• Visual assets (i.e., logo, website graphics, etc.)

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

6 people worked with us. The owner, a project manager, and 4 other creatives.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

No, the outcome was a failure and a loss of $20,000 Canadian

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

Very pushy and hands-off. We were expecting a more involved process that required our feedback to create a name. They were impatient with us and did not provide us with the services or care we required. In the end they decided to terminate the project because they felt we were not a good fit and did not provide any of the required deliverables.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Nothing

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I would have like it if they were more interactive with us when coming up with naming ideas. They barely spent any time understanding our needs and came back with suggestions that were not in line with our expectations. In fact, the names suggested contained all the opposite concepts that we had discussed. They do not listen to their clients.
