BACKGROUND

Could you please describe your company and the role that you play there?

I am the owner and CEO of an IT [information technology] company that provides businesses with various digital services. We specialize in solving tricky digital solutions, from software and mobile app development to IT project management and consulting. I am personally in charge of the sales and project management departments.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What was the business challenge that you were trying to address when you approached Max-Xama?

One of our clients wanted a high-end mobile app. This client is a major player in their industry, so we wanted to ensure that the product would be world class. We partnered with Max-Xama because we needed to partner with a high-quality, reliable contractor.

Can you talk about the scope of the project? What were the exact services or methodologies Max-Xama provided or implemented?

The project involved building a very complex mobile app. Max-Xama was involved in the app design and app development stages of this project. We gave Max-Xama the concept that our client wanted developed. The Max-Xama team completed the whole project by themselves. First, they converted the original concept into wireframes. Then, they turned the wireframes into the app itself. Finally, they created the design assets that ended up on the app. Max-Xama was involved in the development project from start to finish.

SOLUTION

What was your process for selecting Max-Xama with which to work?

We reached out to several other mobile app developing agencies and met with them to discuss the project. We had worked with Max-Xama prior to this project, and we talked to their references to ensure that they were reliable and had enough experience to carry out this project. Max-Xama charged a bit more than the other companies that we met with, but we chose them anyways. Looking back on the project, I’m very glad that we chose Max-Xama. The client that we were creating the app for was also involved in the decision process.

Can you give us a sense of the size of the project in dollar terms or personnel work hours?

The size of the project was around $65,000.

When was the work completed?

The project was completed approximately two and a half years ago [fall of 2012].

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Do you have any statistics or metrics to track improvement from the project?

I don’t have any stats to show, but the end client is very happy with the performance of the app. I’m very satisfied with the work that they provided.

When working with Max-Xama, was there anything unique or special about them compared to other companies with which you may have worked?

The Max-Xama team is very focused on quality and is flexible when it comes to revisions. Certain out of scope items were dealt with very fairly. Max-Xama actually educated us on how mobile apps are planned and built. I think that we got a great deal out of this partnership. The final product is great, and now we know a lot more about the app development process.

Looking back on the project, is there any area that they could improve upon or that you would do differently?

We would have liked to have involved the Max-Xama team earlier on in the project. They specialize in app development. Their expertise and knowledge of the app development process would have allowed us to ask more educated questions while drawing out the final concept with our end client. That’s on us, not on Max-Xama. We have been working with Max-Xama ever since and have contributed to each other's growth and learnt from each other.

What advice would you give to future clients of theirs?

The Max-Xama team is reliable and mean to deliver well. I would recommend against choosing a cheaper company that only wants to make money and does not care about the product being made. Our relationship with Max-Xama has matured to a level where I think of them as being my own production and development team.
