Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the head of product for Fresh Street, a dark grocery store that can be accessed through the website and mobile app. We’ve since pivoted into a B2B business model of connecting distributors to retailers.

We were looking to build a technical team that could help us develop a web and mobile app.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Matter Product Studio serves as our primary development partner, helping us improve the original platform and its coding. They utilize React and React Native for the frontend, and Python and Django for the backend.

They’ve also integrated Oracle NetSuite in the backend system, Indigo for product information management, Algolia for search functionality, PostgreSQL for the backend database, and Saleor as a headless CMS.

Moreover, this app is compatible for both iOS and Android platforms.

What is the team composition?

We’re currently working with a team of five people made up of engineers, designers, and a product manager.

We’ve invested about $400,000 so far.

Our ongoing partnership started in February 2022.

Matter Product Studio has helped cut the development time by 30%–40% without sacrificing the quality of the product.

How did Matter Product Studio perform from a project management standpoint?

They perform well from a project management standpoint, as they’re able to communicate clearly and consistently stay on budget, thanks to their customer success manager. I’m also pleased with how quickly they resolve our issues.

We typically communicate through email, Zoom, Google Meet, and phone and use JIRA and Notion as our primary project management tools.

We’re impressed with their focus on communication and the quality of their engineers and product managers.
