How did your relationship with your partner evolve?
The price to design and build the website was nearly double that of the other vendors we had interviewed. Project manager seemed overwhelmed regularly during the website project and needed constant management by me to complete the tasks most often with repetitive emails asking for the same thing to get done. At no time was there a work structure in place and they seemed to move through the project in a random, unorganized way. Matrix Media works without structure for most tasks and often delivered errors such as when the custom product options needed to be brought over. There was frequent communication and contract confusion about what I had discussed with the salesman and what I had paid for. In the end they delivered a reasonable website but I needed to recreate 100 custom product options myself. I asked repeatedly for a more affordable support plan that I was used to paying at the other companies in India but was denied however, eventually they gave me an affordable plan. As a 30 years managerial accountant, I see the billing activity, job quotation process and the treatment of payments seem to be done randomly without structure, integrity and verifiability. There is often confusion due to unclear communication. I have brought this feedback to the salesman in hopes he can make a change going forward to improve communications and procedures. We tried their marketing support but after six months, we cancelled it because we were not satisfied with the results from online advertising and communication issues and some errors, but we were recently offered another marketer. We will happily update this review if our experience changes.

The price to design and build the website was nearly double that of the other vendors we had interviewed. Project manager seemed overwhelmed regularly during the website project and needed constant management by me to complete the tasks most often with repetitive emails asking for the same thing to get done. Sometimes I emailed her 6x for the same request because they were not done or they were done with errors and nobody bothered to communicate with me or read the emails containing the details and nobody ever checked their work. At no time was there a work structure in place they seemed to move through the project in a random, unorganized way. Matrix Media works without structure and often delivered errors such as when the product options needed to be brought over. First they refused to add the custom product options even though the pushy salesman documented it in the email and verbally in videos to me that his team would be doing them and finally after much demands and frustration they decided to add the project options but approximately 100 products were all done with errors because they never bothered to ask me what the customizations were, they guessed on them or devised their own custom elements and got them all wrong and when they fixed them, they made a master file for all which made things far worse because then the orders were coming through with missing options and that created chaos. It was a lazy way to fix the broken options.
Again, the process of fixing them was full of errors, too and quickly turned to two months of more unorganized chaos delaying the job. In the end, we wound up redoing them all ourselves because they had no integrity. This adding of the product options is the reason I gave them the job so refusing to do them added considerable drain and stress to the experience. In fact there were many drains along the way and it seemed like I had to fight for everything that we discussed in the design phase that eventually they unfairly took away from me. It was a red flag early on and in time other elements of the job which were discussed in the design phase were simply tossed out or denied me during the development phase and excuses were made yet they never told me up front they could not do these elements before I paid them. It was like a series of bait of switches over and over again. I began to mistrust the salesman. Another example of bait of switch was when the salesman told me over and over he would be training me how to use the website and so when I asked him for some training on the custom options plugin he refused and I had to fihgt for 10 minutes alone time with the developer which was all I needed. It's experiences like this throughout the past year that makes me want to run away fast. There was frequent communication and contract confusion about what I had discussed with the salesman and what I had paid for.
I never liked the support after the website went live. My website never needed anything after it went live but they forced to keep spending each month several hundred dollars even though I didn't want new features.
I asked repeatedly for a support plan that I was used to paying at the other companies in India but was denied. I then simply stopped paying his support plan and kept the marketing going for one month longer and during this time I sent him $150 payment asking him to provide me half the value of the plan and he refused again. When I asked for a refund, he gave me many excuses and starting belittling me in a very long letter rather than grant me my measely little refund. I am a small brand with limited funds and I am an older lady he constantly took of advantage of.
The salesman used high pressure and manipulation constantly to sell his ideas and services and early on I already knew I would not be staying with them long. It was promised a support plan to meet my budget would be available but it never was affordable, we found it to be double price of the other companies in India that we had dealt with over the past 11 years and double the price of the services in the USA, too. We reviewed the support work regularly and found the hours reports to be excessive suggesting they were unfairly padding the hours on simple tasks. As a 30 years managerial accountant, I see the billing activity, job quotation process and the treatment of payments seem to be done randomly without structure, integrity and verifiability. There is often confusion due to unclear communication.
Not too long after buying the support plan, we bought advertising services and the salesman claimed his marketer was an expert but after several thousands of dollars in Google ad spend, we had zero sales and we could see the person was not an expert at all. I spent much of my time managing him instead of him managing himself. The SEO services were quite simple and the ranking reports were not intuitive and social media images were done well most times. Although a kind man, we gave the marketing contact six months and ended up terminating the relationship for all services due to high prices, dishonest, and mostly the lack of sales to show for the thousands spent in advertising but overall for stealing $150 from a small business which they never used.

I’m the project and marketing manager at My First Gym, a children’s fitness franchise in Australia.

What challenge were you trying to address with Matrix Media Solutions (P) Ltd.?
We wanted to add a feature to our website that would allow parents to book trial classes for their children. We already had booking capabilities, but they were only available for members. As a result, we hired Matrix Media to build a new feature for our website.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Matrix Media integrated the new feature into our website and member management software. They created a booking platform with a calendar feature where users could enter their child’s details and date of birth. The platform would then provide classes available for that child’s age group. Parents could then book their children directly into the class.
Additionally, Matrix Media applied a discount code to the classes in the backend, automatically zeroing out the price and booking the child straight into the class. The booking would then go directly into our software and sales funnel. The team built the new feature on WordPress. We initially started using this feature on just one of our 15 gyms to ensure customers were happy with it. After implementing it, the team also made some tweaks.
What is the team composition?
We worked with three teammates from Matrix Media, including Sayan, who worked as the lead developer, another developer, and Kaushik, who was our account manager.
How did you come to work with Matrix Media Solutions (P) Ltd.?
Our tech partner found them on a WordPress page that listed service providers. He lined up a call with Matrix Media to discuss the project. We didn’t talk to anyone else; they were the first people we spoke to. We briefed them on the project, and they said they could do it. They also gave us a good price, so we went with them.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent just under $1,200.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started discussions for this project in May 2024, and the engagement lasted until October 2024. The project is finished, but we’ll probably work with them on other projects and tweaks in the future.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’ve recently been trialing the new feature at five different gyms, and we’ve seen an uplift in trial bookings, which is up 11%. Even if we didn’t see that result, we’d still find the engagement positive. The new feature has made it more accessible for parents to make bookings.
How did Matrix Media Solutions (P) Ltd. perform from a project management standpoint?
Matrix Media was very responsive, and we didn’t have any issues. We mainly communicated via WhatsApp, but we also had a Google Meet call at the start of the project to ensure we were all aligned. We also had a few group meetings during the project to clarify how their development would integrate with our system.
Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?
Sayan was very responsive. I’m not technical at all, so he did a great job figuring out what I meant when I couldn’t articulate it. He understood what I wanted as a client and how that translated into the code. He was great at coming up with solutions; nothing was too hard for him.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They were great at interpreting what I wanted as a result. They could see our vision and build something relevant to achieve it. They translated our needs into something user-friendly that worked seamlessly on our website.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There's nothing Matrix Media could improve on; I’d work with them again. Initially, we didn’t have a good indication of the timeline or when the project was kicking off, but I didn't ask for any clarification on that. When I asked for information about the start date, they told me that they would start working on the project the next day. Everything was fine from there.
Moreover, it would’ve been good if they’d asked me for a list of questions for clarification to determine my non-negotiables and what could change. Still, I could’ve been clearer with that in the briefing.

I’m a mediator and trainer at John Ford and Associates. My company’s primary focus is mediation and training at the workplace to help people resolve conflict. Over the years, I’ve expanded beyond pure mediation and started selling cards I use at work as a peacemaker and mediator.

What challenge were you trying to address with Matrix Media Solutions (P) Ltd.?
I hired Matrix Media to develop the app version of my cards. For context, they took over from a previous development company that I used to start the development. That company got bought out by another company and handed me off to another team. My experience with that team was difficult — they weren’t professional and couldn’t do what I asked them to do. I did get version one of my app, but I was unhappy, so I switched to the Matrix Media team.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Matrix Media started developing the app by migrating it to Node.js. They worked on the previous developer’s code, advising me that if something went wrong and they couldn’t figure it out, it would be much easier to rebuild the app. The team also advised me on a more suitable program to use.
I came up with a monetization strategy where we’d give the app to users for free for a week. After a week, we’d give participants the option to either subscribe for $0.99 per month or to purchase the app outright for $18.99. We also developed a referral program where if a user made a referral, their free usage would be extended by a month.
The monetization strategy was put in place, but it wasn’t working. I asked Pritam (Head of Key Accounts & Creative) if they had anyone on their team who could brainstorm with me about the monetization strategy. He got back to me and referred me to Abhishek (VP). We then had a meeting and talked about Abhishek’s ideas for monetization.
I told them I was thinking about using ChatGPT, and Abhishek reviewed what we could do. He said he had a lightbulb moment about the project. As a result, we developed a model where users get points from the app, making it similar to a gaming experience. Users would get the app for free upon download and receive points. We also changed the referral system and gave it three levels with different points.
In other words, users could still get the app for free, but to keep using it, they’d have to keep buying points or make referrals — the person who made the referral would get 100 points, and the person referred would get 150 points. This motivated users to refer other users to get extra points. We also worked on graphics where users would be given a heart-shaped tank that would get fuller and fuller when they earned points.
At present, we’re working on the app’s notification system that prompts people and checks in on them weekly. Meanwhile, around 600 people have downloaded the app, but only 30 have made purchases, so conversion is a challenge. To fix this, Matrix Media and I have built a system where an auto-responder system will kick into action the moment a user downloads the app. It will guide them around how the app works. We’ll also create educational content about empathy and emotional intelligence.

I mainly interface with Pritam and Abhishek. However, other people work on the project, including a UX designer, a React Native developer, a Node.js developer, a business analyst, and a DevOps engineer.

I was unhappy during my work with the previous developer, so I reached out to a friend who I knew was developing an app. The person was interested but didn’t have the capacity to do what my app required. As a result, he referred me to Matrix Media. That was when our relationship started.

They stay up late to accommodate me since I’m in California and they’re in India. Moreover, they’re friendly and take ownership of my app, showing me that they understand their responsibilities.
Their skills have also been great. The team has fixed the problems that the previous developers couldn’t resolve. As a result, I feel excited about the app again — they’re taking everything to the next level.

Pritam and Abhishek have been wonderful. Abhishek is the mastermind behind the new monetization breakthrough. Because of their work, I am confident in my product and their technical ability. They’re always looking for ways to make my requests happen. They’ve been creative at finding solutions.
Pritam is a great team leader. He coordinates everything. When I send an email, he always gets back to me through Zoom, Google Meet, and chats. Moreover, the team is realistic in terms of timelines — they’ve managed my expectations well. We’re moving in the right direction at a good pace. They keep showing me signs of their work and tell me whenever they have a holiday. Overall, everything is well-coordinated and managed.

The engagement has been a truly wonderful experience for me. I’ve got my passion back, and I’m hopeful and excited about the project. I’ve got great hopes for the product in terms of what it can do. Moreover, I truly feel like we’re a team now. I’m truly happy with their services.

Matrix Media is trustworthy and professional. The best way to handle a partnership with them is to communicate and be upfront about your needs. In our engagement, I’ve been quite hands-on, even though I’m not a technical person. They’ve given me the space I need to give my input. They take ownership of the project without depriving me of my voice. Overall, you have to speak up for what you want and trust them — they’ll help you achieve it.

They're very responsive, and if there are any issues, they fix them within an hour. We can text them anytime, and they jump on the phone with us quickly. They’ve proven to us that they can be trusted and know what they’re doing.

The only issue we’ve ever had is the time zone difference, and we wish they had someone working during our regular business hours. Sometimes it's difficult to get help during the holidays as well.

Be patient and trust them because they know what they’re doing. Explain everything as clearly as possible, and repeat it as often as necessary so that the project comes out the way you want it to. Sometimes things get lost in translation when we give them short descriptions and it sets us back, so make sure you’re clear about what you want.
