As a cooperative-style publisher, Maine Authors Publishing’s goal is to support local, independent authors throughout the publishing process with affordable editing, design, printing, distribution, and marketing services.

Publishing independently can be intimidating. From editing to book design to marketing, the best way to create a high quality book is to enlist individuals experienced in each respective field.

We help independent authors publish affordably by taking advantage of print technology that make small print runs less expensive and by offering authors a variety of cooperative-style marketing opportunities and a la carte services to fit each author’s individual needs and budget.

Book Design

We have two in-house graphic designers who are experienced in creating professional covers, interior layout, and promotional materials using the Adobe Suite. 

Printing

Using short-run digital presses, we can print softbound books in approximately 10 business days (after an approved press proof). Hardbound books, saddle-stitched books, and printed promotional materials are also available.

Illustration

We offer professional illustrations for a wide range of budgets and in a variety of styles.

Editing

Maine Authors Publishing has a team of professional editors who are required to pass a rigorous editing test before they are accepted. Our editing supervisor will assign your manuscript to an editor who will be the best fit for your book. All editing is done using Microsoft Word Track Changes and the author has control of the final editing decisions.
