What challenge were you trying to address with L.Zinman & Company?

I was seeking corporate and personal accounting services.

What was the scope of their involvement?

L.Zinman & Company provides us with bookkeeping and tax services for our personal lives and corporations. We initially came to an in-person meeting to give them a sense of our personal and professional accounting needs. My husband accompanied me to their office; he was also onboarded. Then, we officially became their clients.

They’ve provided us with the type of advice and insights we were looking for. In particular, we were looking at how much value would be added versus the overhead expense of renovating one of my husband’s periodontal practices. Our accountant quickly ran calculations and informed us how to go about the renovation with the best cost-savings perspective and effective tax strategy.

They use QuickBooks and DocuSign.

How did you come to work with L.Zinman & Company?

We found them through word of mouth. A colleague referred them to me; she was a long-standing client. She provided me with the email to one particular accountant. I reached out to him and promptly received a reply. He let me know that he was accepting new clients for personal and corporate accounting services, and we got a sense of his experience since our first meeting.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about $10,000 CAD (approximately $8,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We were onboarded as clients in February 2015, and we’re still working together.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

In terms of cost savings, they’ve helped us save costs both professionally and personally to an enormous extent. From a personal standpoint, Ryan informed us about several tax rebates that we were eligible to apply for and submitted the application on our behalf as first-time homebuyers in Ontario. He also told us about a harmonized sales tax rebate that we were eligible for, which equaled $17,000 CAD (approximately $13,000 USD).

Additionally, during the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, he completed for us many business relief loans and grants that we were eligible for. He kept us abreast of the changing landscape of tax and business relief grants and notified us whenever he found out about something new, which was an immense added value for us.

How did L.Zinman & Company perform from a project management standpoint?

The project management is excellent. If we need something, our accountant takes the reins. He asks us if we prefer to oversee something ourselves or have him go ahead. We often just have him do all the paperwork, and he takes it over completely from there.

We mainly communicate through phone calls and emails.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’ve stood out for their ability to notify us about tax relief and government grants for business owners that emerged throughout the pandemic. Also, they stay abreast of the constantly changing landscape and ensure all applications are completed on time without an error. Overall, they deliver us enormous cost savings.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think so. They’re fantastic.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

If it’s difficult for you to commute to their office, just ask for a virtual meeting. They’re well equipped to do that, and they’d be happy to accommodate you. L.Zinman & Company has fantastic accountants; don’t hesitate to solicit their services.
