We take physical products from idea to production: feasibility and cost studies, industrial design, mechanical and electronics engineering, firmware, prototyping, design for manufacturing, and low-volume manufacturing — all with one in-house team. We're built for inventors, startups, SBIR awardees, and small manufacturers who have an idea, a sketch, or a rough prototype but no engineering department. Over 1,000 projects and 120+ portfolio examples across consumer, IoT, industrial, housewares, outdoor, and medical device categories.

Choose an on-demand shop when you already have finished, manufacturable CAD and just need parts cut fast — that's what they're excellent at. Choose LA NPDT when you don't have that CAD yet, or when the design still needs to be engineered, cost-reduced, and made manufacturable. We start upstream: feasibility, concept design, engineering, DFM, and cost modeling, then take you through prototyping and production. In short: quoting services make what you send them; we figure out what should be made, then make it.

Physical, engineered products: consumer devices and housewares, IoT and connected hardware, wearables, industrial equipment and machine design, outdoor and sporting goods, food and beverage hardware, toys and baby products, and Class I/II medical devices. We're a strong fit when a project needs mechanical and electronics work together, when it must be manufacturable at real cost targets, and when the client wants one accountable team instead of stitching together a designer, an engineer, and an overseas factory. We are not the right fit for pure software, apps, or websites with no hardware component.

Most clients start with a paid, fixed-fee first step rather than an open-ended retainer: a feasibility and cost study, a Prototype Engineering Review, or a concept design sprint. Each produces a concrete deliverable and a scoped quote for the next phase, so you can decide with real numbers before committing to a full program. Typical entry engagements run in the high hundreds to low thousands; full turnkey development programs are quoted after that first step based on scope. Office hours are Mon–Fri, 10am–6pm Central.

The client owns everything. CAD, drawings, firmware, test data, and manufacturing files transfer to you on payment, we take no royalties, no equity in your idea, and no license back. That's the core difference from invention-submission and promotion outfits, which sell marketing packages and often retain rights. We work under NDA by default, sign yours before the first call if you prefer, and design to applicable safety and regulatory standards (FCC, UL/IEC, FDA design controls and ISO 13485-aligned documentation for medical work) with regulatory specialists brought in for submissions.
