I’m an administrative manager at Barnes Preston Global CPA, an accounting firm.

What challenge were you trying to address with TheCompuLab?

We needed IT support.

What was the scope of their involvement?

TheCompuLab handles all of our IT needs, like computer and software installation. We’ve also consulted with them about cloud migration. First, they surveyed our site remotely — we’ve been working with them for a while, so they were familiar with our office setup, the computers we have, and the software we use. Afterward, the team explained the things we needed to conduct the move and the time it would take. We approved the process and decided it was the right time to do the transfer. One of their representatives made sure we had all the data in place and went ahead with the cloud migration. They continue to handle our IT needs and maintain our servers.

TheCompuLab was already our vendor when I started working here.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

They’ve been great. We’re glad we found TheCompuLab — they’re super helpful. Most of our IT problems are resolved within hours, and we never have to wait too long. Overall, we’re thrilled with the engagement.

How did TheCompuLab perform from a project management standpoint?

Fernando manages the project, and he’s doing a great job. He coordinates with his team and makes sure that everyone follows through with their job. The team is quick to respond to our calls and emails, which we appreciate. We’re not familiar with IT jargon, but the team has been really good at explaining things to us. Some of my coworkers are older and don’t understand technological terms, so that’s a big plus for us.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re very professional. TheCompuLab has been able to help us remotely because of how familiar they are with our setup, which we appreciate. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

There’s nothing I can think of that they could do better. We’re happy with TheCompuLab.

I definitely recommend TheCompuLab. You won’t be disappointed.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

We’re a web-based company that sells Christmas lights — a lot of them are commercial-grade products for malls and larger areas that have 50-foot tall trees. I work for the HR and IT departments mixed together.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with TheCompuLab?

I didn’t have any IT background, so we wanted an outside source to help me get people set up and keep our security on point at all times.

Since we’re a web-based service and everything we do is through the computer, we needed to make sure that all of our security programs were up to date.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

When we first brought TheCompuLab on board, they came out to our site and reviewed our WiFi and internal setup. They put all of our computers in the same domain, which allowed them to help us with any issues we have.

Additionally, they labeled all of our computers and did an inventory of our equipment to know what we had and what we still needed. It took them quite a few days to get all that process done.

Since we’re a seasonal business, we rotate through a lot of employees, and TheCompuLab helps us with any new hires’ onboarding process on the computer. They set up the Office 365 accounts, domains, and anything else needed for that.

In addition to that, anytime a computer has a problem, we submit a ticket to them. After that, they jump on and fix it or recommend what we need to do to get it fixed.

What is the team composition?

I work with about four people from TheCompuLab. They always keep the same people on my team, who know exactly how our company works and what I need. That way, I don’t have to explain a lot when I submit a ticket.

How did you come to work with TheCompuLab?

We really liked how available TheCompuLab was — they were immediately on the computer trying to figure out what was going on and setting up what was needed. That’s one of the main reasons why we chose them.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent between $25,000–$50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in March 2019, and the partnership is ongoing. The initial onboarding project is completed, but they still assist us with any random work that comes up.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The amount of time that TheCompuLab has been able to save me, especially since I don’t have to learn anything new now, is awesome. They’ve also saved me about half a day per employee for all the IT onboarding processes.

Whenever I submit a ticket, they usually respond within an hour, even if it’s just to schedule an appointment for later. They always respond to confirm that they received the ticket and will work on it as soon as they can.

How did TheCompuLab perform from a project management standpoint?

TheCompuLab has a ticketing system, and their response time is very fast. If I need a project from them, I submit a ticket. They have a person who assigns the ticket to whoever is best equipped for that project based on their skill set.

What did you find most impressive about them?

TheCompuLab is the only IT company that I have worked with, so I don’t have anything to compare them to — I don’t have any complaints about the team.

TheCompuLab is very proactive in everything they do. For instance, last week, they wanted to review our security because we hadn’t talked about it in a long time, so they set up a meeting with me to review that.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I wish TheCompuLab was closer because I still have to do all the manual moving around of IT equipment. However, that’s not something that they could change, but something that would be convenient.

Any advice for potential customers?

I recommend being straightforward and honest with TheCompuLab about what you want from them and what you expect from the relationship. They’re really good at going above and beyond what they’re originally hired to do.

I ask them for tips and recommendations all the time, and they’re more than willing to let me know their opinion about these topics.

For what projects/services did your company hire TheCompuLab?

After having a couple private IT people working for us, we realized that the patchworking didn’t only cause headache but ending up costing more so we turned to CompuLab to help lead us in better direction for our everyday needs.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We reached out to a few IT companies to handle our everyday needs and CompuLab were the one that impressed us the most, not only with their skills of communication and knowledge but also in price.

Describe the project in detail and walk through their service package.

CompuLab helped us through the OnBoarding to validate our current situation and together we made a plan to upgrade for better working conditions. They created a priority list which we gave a timeline to be able and fit it in with our budget. After the initial period they handle any ticket submitted and keep in contact looking forward to keeping us as safe and secure as possible.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

When submitting a ticket we get the first one available, which is perfect for he essence of time and they all can see the information needed to help every specific employee. For working and making decisions moving the company forward we work with a specialist assigned to us and the CEO directly.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The way they haven’t pushed us to just buy new, they took the time to work with what we already have then gave us their recommendation together with explanations of why. This really helped us internally for all levels of IT skills to understand and take needed decisions, also fit it into our budget.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Any submitted tickets or phone calls get a response very quickly. They are very good at maintaining communication and make sure to reach out now and then if we haven't spoken in a while for other reasons.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The communication and feeling that the Customer comes first all the time, working together to reach the best possible.

Nothing that comes to mind

We needed a team to help support our IT infrastructure.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They handle software, hardware, server management, email administration, purchasing, and general IT advice. Day-to-day, they help us with troubleshooting any IT-related issues to keep us running smoothly. They’ve also helped with on-site infrastructure work, upgrading our wired network to handle fiber-optic Internet service. On that project, they helped us source vendors as well.

What is the team composition?

They have a full support staff. I’ve only worked with a few of their team members, so I don’t know the specific size of their organization.

How did you come to work with TheCompuLab?

I wasn’t a part of the selection process, but I’ve been happy working with them in my time on staff here.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about $25,000 with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

I’ve been working with them since March 2020. They were working with my organization for several years before that, though.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They were instrumental in helping us complete our fiber upgrade project. As we begin to explore upgrading our servers, I’m sure they’ll be instrumental in that project regardless of how complex it becomes. We’ve been able to collaborate effectively, which means a lot to us.

How did TheCompuLab perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve performed well. They always have the resources and knowledge to support us. They’ve helped us stay ahead of trends, particularly with acclimating to using Zoom and Microsoft Teams. Their ticketing system makes sure that any problems that arise are resolved in a timely manner.

Since we’re a church, we sometimes have issues on weekends. When we’ve had to reach out to them at these times, they’ve still been responsive.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’ve never felt unimportant to them. They’re responsive, staying on top of everything and always following up to make sure we’re satisfied with all resolutions. They also provide us with monthly reports that help us diagnose any trends with our issues so we can be proactive about finding solutions.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything. We haven’t come across any projects where they haven’t at least met our needs.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be as transparent as possible. The relationship should be all about what your needs are. If you present them clearly, they’ll strive to meet whatever needs you have. That should be the basis for a fruitful long-term partnership.
