John received his B.A. in Biology with a minor in Fine Arts from Case Western Reserve University, and a Masters of Landscape Architecture from the University of Michigan. During graduate school he had summer internships in Kalamazoo, MI and Jacksonville, FL. After graduating, he worked for 2 years in Phoenix, AZ before taking a teaching position as an associate professor at West Virginia University.
