I’m the Co-founder of Bold Hope, a nonprofit, and I’m on the leadership team.

What challenge were you trying to address with Jebran & Abraham, P.C.?

We partnered with them to do our bookkeeping and give us an audit.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We came to Jebran & Abraham to ask for help with our audits and bookkeeping about five years ago. As a nonprofit, we needed help from someone who was more of an expert about auditing and the government requirements in the nonprofit field. Our last accountant before them did not specialize in nonprofits, and there’s just more audits and bookkeeping to deal with.

What is the team composition?

We work with Charles (President), who would even give us free help with Quickbooks, which I really enjoyed. It was also very helpful when we were still using Quickbooks as a small nonprofit. He would take time to just train us on that software and teach us the best practices. 

How did you come to work with Jebran & Abraham, P.C.?

They were very knowledgeable and were priced reasonably. Of course, pricing has to be a factor, too. Some accountants were way up compared to what we could afford that year, but Jebran & Abraham worked with us and within the scope of our budget.

How much have you invested with them?

The total cost of the project is around $40,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in September 2016, and the collaboration is ongoing. They’re our accountant that does our books every year.

Jebran & Abraham makes sure that they file our finances correctly to the government. Charles doesn’t necessarily bill on hours — he bills on getting the job done. I know we previously hit another hump of going over amounts and there’s more paperwork, but he’s a truthful guy.

How did Jebran & Abraham, P.C. perform from a project management standpoint?

Jebran & Abraham has been able to help us a lot. They can easily go back and do some things that our last accountant did not do. The ease of integration into our business operations has been super easy. Also, they communicate with us well and are doing a really nice job.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Charles got to know our system and now tells us what we can do better and change. It’s not just about doing the task and getting out; I truly feel like he wants to help us. He often allots some time to make sure that we’re doing things correctly, which makes sense.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Sometimes, when the tax season gets close to the deadline, Charles is not as good at communicating. It might take him a couple of days or a week to get back to us. To me, that’s understandable, but in an ideal world, it’d be awesome if he could get back to us just like he does throughout the year.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Feel free to always ask Jebran & Abraham questions and reach out as you’re working throughout the year. Don’t wait until it gets closer to the due date before you start filing.
