Barnes Estates International needed a website that could represent us properly in front of serious investors. I commissioned James and the Site, and from the first call it was clear James Hattersley knew exactly what he was doing. After a short consultation call where James asked the right questions, he came back the same day with a set of design directions. I gave some feedback, and within 24 hours the finished site was live: domain connected, contact form routing directly to my inbox, a full SEO audit completed and actioned, and 100 out of 100 on Google's PageSpeed tool with all Core Web Vitals scoring green. The handover was equally impressive. Everything arrived in a single pack: login credentials, source code access, hosting details, and a clear breakdown of what ongoing support looks like. I knew exactly what I had and what to do with it. The site itself looks genuinely premium. James rebuilt the entire kastobali.com from scratch in three days. He implemented our new brand kit exactly as designed, something we had not been able to do on Wix at all.

Deliverables included:

• A full website redesign reflecting the new brand identity, colour palette, and photography direction
• A custom animated hero sequence James created on his own initiative, showing the problem our restaurant solves for guests. It became the team's favourite part of the site and we receive compliments on it regularly.
• An online ordering system with a basket, automatic tax calculation, and direct kitchen notification via WhatsApp
• A reservation syustem that instantly emails both the guest and the kitchen team with confirmation
• A simple backend editor I can use from my phone to update the menu, publish blog posts, and create events guests can RSVP to
• Google conversion tracking built into every key action on the site, so our social media manager can measure the impact of ad campaigns
• Full deployment including domain connection, hosting setup, and a handover pack with everything we needed to manage the site going forward

Monthly platform fees: gone. The site costs nothing to host and we own it outright. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Google PageSpeed score improved from 52 to 98 out of 100. Page load time dropped from 4.8 seconds to 1.1 seconds. All Core Web Vitals moved from red to green. The site was designed, built, and live in three days. Monthly platform costs dropped from a paid Wix subscription to zero. The kitchen team can now update the menu, publish blog posts, and manage events without any developer involvement. Reservation confirmations and online orders route directly to the kitchen automatically. Conversion tracking is live across all key actions for the first time, giving the team measurable data to improve ad campaign performance.

The process was straightforward from start to finish. James held a single consultation call to understand the brief, came back the same day with design directions, incorporated our feedback quickly, and had the finished site live within three days. There was one point of contact throughout and no back and forth with account managers or third parties. When we had questions after launch he responded promptly. The whole experience was faster and simpler than we expected for the scope of what was delivered.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Two things stood out. First, James consistently went beyond the brief. The custom hero animation was entirely his own idea, presented as an option during the project. We had not asked for it and it became the most commented-on feature of the site. Second, the scope of what was delivered in three days was genuinely surprising. A full rebrand, a new site, online ordering, reservations, a content editor, conversion tracking, and deployment. One person, three days, no dropped details. Their combination of speed, quality, and initiative is rare.

Are there any areas for improvement or something James And The Site could have done differently?

Nothing of substance to criticise. Two observations that are maybe compliments as much as complaints:

• James should charge more! The price does not reflect the quality or speed of what was delivered.
• His full range of capabilities is not immediately obvious. We did not realise until we were already working together how much he could handle in one project.
