Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the owner of a public house which specialises in real and craft ales and home cooked food.

For what projects/services did your company hire J27 Accountants Ltd, and what were your goals?
For our first business venture we needed a company who could guide us and then prepare our taxes, vat, payroll, pensions and also advise on certain employment issues as well. They also provided a quarterly stocktake to help make sure we were on the right track going forward.

How did you select this firm and what were the deciding factors?
My partner worked for the previous owners who used J27 Accountants and recommended them to us. We had a meeting with them and instantly felt assured as they already had familiarity with the business.
Describe the engagement and overall scope of work in detail, including the stages of the partnership and any software or documents used.
We had an initial meeting with J27 Accountants and they advised how to set up our business with having a wet side and also catering. They have advised and helped every step of the way from dealing with our individual self assessment returns, corporation tax return, quarterly vat submission, end of year accounts, weekly payroll and pension plus any employment issues I may have as they have good knowledge on that too.
At the advice of J27 Accountants we became a limited company on the wet side in 2013 and they guided us through that process. Dext Prepare is used for scanning over invoices and statements for processing towards the vat and end of year accounts. Accountancy Manager site allows me to print or E-sign vat and tax returns before submission to HMRC and also lets me know when returns are due.

We are billed monthly for the services they provide and a separate monthly bill for the workplace pension processing.
How many resources from the firm's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We mainly work with 4 members of the firm's team each one dealing with specific areas of the business - payroll/pension, vat and non-vat sides of the business and all other issues. If needed I do occasionally have either a telephone or zoom meeting with the owner who we have now known for 16 years and in that time have built up a really good working relationship.

I never have to chase them; they always produce our returns and accounts on time which is very reassuring.

They have a young progressive team who are very tech savvy and help me who is older and sometimes struggles getting to grip with certain technology. They have patience which is great!
