We’re developing mobile retail store solutions, such as tying in with point of sale systems, providing stats on purchases, and more. I’m the founder.

What challenge were you trying to address with the iQlance?

We needed someone with expertise in app development to build an app for a pre-ordering system.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

iQlance held our hands most of the way. We explained what we wanted and they came back to us with a worked out framework. Throughout the process, I took screenshots explaining what exactly we needed.

They built a app that works with Android and iOS and allows users to view stores based on proximity. Once users choose the store closest to them, they can view the online menu, and can customize the features. It also enables them to add items to their cart, view the pre-tax total amount to pay (we don’t accept payments directly through our platform), and set a pickup time, which is the most important thing.

On the backend, the stores can accept or reject the orders based on available inventory. The store can then notify you when your order is ready for pickup and send prompts to your phone regarding feedback.

They also built our website from scratch, and we may have them host our services and run it for it in the future.

What is the team dynamic?

I usually dealt with one of three people: their business development person or one of two developers. There were also a lot of people behind the scenes.

How did you come to work with iQlance?

My business partner was referred to them by someone who had worked with them. We talked to them and they seemed very reasonable, so we chose them.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent approximately $50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project started in December 2016 and ended in October 2017.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

When we’ve showed the app to our investors, they’ve said that it’s user-friendly and intuitive.

How did they perform from a project management standpoint?

They stayed on top of their deadlines, were responsive, and communicated well. Usually, I used email to send my screenshots, and then we’d discuss them via Skype.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Neither my business partner nor I have a technical background or know the terminology, so there were a few times when having a blueprint of what they needed from us would help us understand and conceptualize everything.

Have someone with more technical background lead the project from your end.

Our business is a multiple-level marketing company doing everything from website design and processing, e-commerce, and app design, build, and management. We also have a fulfillment center. I’m the managing partner.

What challenge were you trying to address with iQlance?

We had a client that was looking for an app with some specific capabilities, and we needed help building it. Our company is also a minority shareholder in the app.

What was the scope of their involvement?

The app was built for desktop, iOS, and Android. The app’s main purpose is for small to medium-sized service based companies to track their work vehicles and/or workers. It also informs the end client where the worker is and when to expect them. The functions of the app include GPS, messaging, invoicing, accounting, and scheduling. iQlance acted as the developer of the app. We will handle the launch and marketing. The app is currently for the USA market, but it could expand further.

How did you come to work with iQlance?

We use a lot of independent contractors for several of our projects, and IQlance met everything we were looking for. I interviewed several companies, and we decided on iQlance.

How much have you invested with iQlance?

The cost of the project will be approximately $100,000 when it’s completed.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in February 2017, and the app is currently functional. We’re about to launch it online, but only for testing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We are satisfied with the product. We’ve done internal testing, but have not shown it to any focus groups. That will be the next step in our process.

How did iQlance perform from a project management standpoint?

The delay in the project came from our side. IQlance has been on top of everything from the beginning.

What did you find most impressive about iQlance?

It was nice to deal with someone more local since many independent contractors are overseas. IQlance is based in Canada, and it’s been really nice to deal with them in terms of their communication skills and availability. We don’t have to work odd hours to meet their hours. They’re always willing to have Skype calls and reviews whenever we need them. It’s been pleasant to work with them.

Are there any areas iQlance could improve?

We didn’t have any problems with our process.

What tips or recommendations could you share that might increase the likelihood of success with iQlance?

My advice is for people working with any outside contractor. Make sure you know exactly what you want. If you can do that, they can work to your specs.

I’m a co-founder of Voluntary Refund Value, which is a startup that created an app to help people recycle. Users place value on things they consider trash and have a certain time to turn in the items. When they do, the money is used for a sweepstake.

What challenge were you trying to address with iQlance?

We needed someone to build our mobile app.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They do development work, design, and consulting for us. I have a flow chart and tell them what I want, and they develop it. If I can’t figure something out, they have the expertise to resolve my question. They give us a list of what they’re going to complete for Android development. I review their list to make sure there are no changes or errors we need to address. They fix any problems we find. We’re able to give feedback right away and see the app’s progress. We have a payment gateway through PayPal, and they implemented my credentials, which allowed me to do a recycling transaction myself.

I don’t know which technologies they’re using for the app, but the results are pretty good. The app is built for Android now. Once I’m satisfied with this product, they’ll go ahead and make the iOS version.

I found them on Guru.com. I’m glad I chose to partner with them.

The project will cost between $10,000 and $25,000 when it’s completed.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together 8 months ago, and the work is ongoing. Programming takes time, but we’re on the right track. You have to be patient and have the right team to get a good result.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or impact of the engagement?

We’d like them to join our IT team to resolve any issues we have. I’ve had some friends tell me that the app works very smoothly. I haven’t had any issues with their deliverables, so I’m pretty satisfied. We have the sandbox version for testing, and it works just like I wanted it to.

How did iQlance perform from a project management standpoint?

They respond very quickly. Customers want to know what’s going on. With iQlance, I can ask any question, and they will let me know our status.

Are there any areas iQlance could improve?

I’m just getting used to the app myself, but I can’t think of anything they need to improve.

What tips or recommendations could you share that might increase the likelihood of success with iQlance?

As long as the customer’s clear about what they want, iQlance can fix any type of issue. I like being proactive, so I make sure I’m clear about my requirements. I give them drawings or flow charts, but I don’t expect them to be mind-readers. They can only do what I ask.

I’m the co-founder and CEO of a fantasy sports mobile application. We’re based in Toronto, Ontario.

What challenge were you trying to address with iQlance Solutions?

We started the app with another company in 2017. They weren’t able to finish the job or integrate the API correctly, so we sat on the shelf for six years.

Since I’m not a developer, API integration was above my pay grade. We needed someone who was good with APIs.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

iQlance Solutions has developed a baseball application from scratch. We’ve helped with the app's design and idea, but they’ve built it. They’ve also integrated the API, the nucleus of the entire company, into the app.

Initially, we met with Krunal (Product Manager & Scrum Master), the company's owner. We approached him in January 2024 and spoke about the project. We gave him the source code for the last project; he looked at it and said he could finish the product, but we’d have to start from scratch because a lot had changed in six years. Krunal offered us a deal to set up everything from scratch and create a much better version of the product, and we went from there.

We used Swift for the first iteration, which is why we had to change it. On this project, we’ve used Dart and Flutter for cross-platform development.

What is the team composition?

We’ve dealt directly with two teammates: a project manager in Toronto and a project manager in India. Both are super communicative and helpful with everything.

Additionally, we have eight people on the team. The roles are very segmented so that they can do everything efficiently. One person works on the admin panel, another on the design, and so on. We met everyone once, but all our communication goes through our project manager in India.

How did you come to work with iQlance Solutions?

I went to iQlance Solutions because they were good at API integration. However, the problem we had the first time we tried to do the project was that we didn’t have any background in development, and the other company didn’t have any background in baseball. We were speaking a different language, so we had to find a development firm in Toronto with a background or any kind of knowledge of baseball.

When we spoke to Krunal, he wasn’t a huge fan of baseball, but he was familiar with it. This gave us more confidence in their ability to do the project correctly. However, it wasn’t easy. The team had to educate themselves on many of the inner workings of the sport to get comfortable making the product.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about $9,000 on the developers and another $4,000–$5,000 on the APIs, for a total of $14,000–$15,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with them in January 2024, and our relationship is ongoing. Our partnership will run for a while; we’re currently wrapping up the first project and working together to enhance it.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We don’t have metrics yet because we haven’t launched the app. However, we measure the success by how close iQlance Solutions’ work is to the product that we had in mind. We had many complications with the project's first iteration, so we had a list of things we wanted done that we knew were difficult to implement. Nonetheless, iQlance Solutions has been able to get them done with few exceptions, and some things have required more time.

We’ve had some bugs, like everybody does in the testing phase. However, iQlance Solutions is great at solving them quickly. Since we’re in different time zones, if we have a bug on Monday, we email them on Monday night, and they fix it by the time we wake up on Tuesday.

How did iQlance Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re always on budget. The deadlines have moved a bit because a few ideas didn’t work out how we would’ve liked from a design standpoint. iQlance Solutions has guided us in a better direction, so we’ve had to push the deadlines slightly. However, it was our call, not theirs.

Communication is excellent. We’ve spoken to Krunal every day for the last six months except for a week. They’ve been on top of every step, and we remain in contact. We mainly use emails and phone calls and have a regular Zoom meeting with the team in India. Overall, I don’t know how they do other projects while we’re involved; they have more hours in the day than us.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The communication is outstanding. As someone with a limited background in development, they’ve had to explain many things to me because I don’t have any experience in that. On the other hand, I’ve had to explain many things that I couldn’t communicate effectively, but they’ve figured everything out with the information I’ve given them.
In summary, we’ve gotten to speak each other’s language in a short time. I’m not quite there yet, but I’ve learned to talk more like somebody with an advanced background in development. I’m always learning, but iQlance Solutions has figured out exactly what we need.

Are there any areas they could improve?

A few times, iQlance Solutions was realistic about something that wouldn’t be possible to do in a reasonable timeframe. At first, I was disappointed they couldn’t do it, but the more I learned about development, the more it made perfect sense.

Overall, they’ve been great at communicating their limits and what they can’t do in the timeframe. However, they’re open to building these features as we progress.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

The best thing to do is to learn as much as you can about the development side so you’re on the same page as them. The better you can effectively communicate, the better they’ll work with you. Knowing things like HTTP requests and API calls is just an easy way to get your point across without them having to translate for you, so it goes a long way.
