BACKGROUND

Gelper is based in California and is a mobile-based cause marketing app. It is designed for passionate millennials to help them fundraise for non-profits by shopping at participating retailers who will donate a portion of their sales to non-profits.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

Our goal is to target the 80 million US millennials who are extremely cause-focused and make purchasing decisions based on a company's corporate social responsibility. The non-profit industry has a hard time converting millennial followers into donors; specifically, retailers have a hard time connecting donation behaviors to causes in which millennials are deeply invested.

SOLUTION

Gelper allows users to discover local businesses that will give back to causes they care about. When users make a purchase at that store, a portion of the sale is donated to the non-profit of the user's choice.

We were referred to Innofied by another local firm who had used them extensively on a project.

We needed to build a minimum viable product (MVP) version of the app for both iOS and Android, as well as back-end database infrastructure. We also needed design/UX work done on the app. We tasked Innofied to handle all aspects of the project. There was also a third-party integration from a financial data information provider that we needed to implement into the front and back-end of the app.

The overall development time was roughly 12 weeks, including testing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

We were extremely pleased with Innofied's ability, especially tackling the third-party financial information that was new to them. While there was a small learning curve, they jumped in to make sure the UX and functional experience were seamless.

They were able to handle multiple issues concurrently and kept the project on budget. I was amazed that we stayed on budget and completed it within two weeks of the original timeline, especially since some issues arose from the third-party provider. Overall, we are extremely happy with our experience.

Please describe your organization.

Pivot Point Enterprises is the developer of a product called Doc&Do. It's a technology that provides business process management for any small business. Our target is companies in the one-to-250 employee range. We were established in October 2013.

What is your position?

I am the COO of the company.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What business challenge were you trying to address with Innofied Solution?

We were searching for the right tech team to build our product as we are not technical ourselves.

SOLUTION

Please describe the scope of their involvement in detail.

They put together a six-person team for us, and first developed our solution as a web product. Once it reached a functional state, we expanded to Android and iOS, for which they also did the development.

How did you come to work with Innofied Solution?

We attempted to identify a beneficial market for our business process services. We researched numerous tech companies, both in the United States and overseas.

My background is in business consulting, so I have experience in handling the requirements side of the process. We outlined what we were looking for, put together a budget of $250,000, and Innofied was the ones that we ultimately selected.

Several other companies had an understanding of what we wanted to do but, in talking to Innofied, we sensed that they had the comprehensive capability of delivering what we wanted without having to piece together many parts.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

The total cost of the project was $150,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working in November 2013, and the work concluded in June 2014. We still work with them for updates.

Could you share any statistics, metrics, or other feedback from this engagement?

Innofied did an excellent job in creating an aesthetically pleasing product. Functionally, it went beyond anything we could have expected. It was different from what we had envisioned, and Innofied's ideas helped shape what the product ultimately became. They had much insight into what would work for us, so we gave their designers a lot of freedom, which was a good decision.

What distinguishes Innofied Solution from other providers?

One of the biggest things I liked about them is that they immediately took ownership of the work. We had a lot of back-and-forth dialogue, expanding even to marketing ideas they had for it. It felt like we had a partner, not just a hired gun.

They're also very good at setting expectations, even if that meant disappointing us as a client. They weren't "yes men." If there weren't enough resources for implementing a feature, they'd let us know.

Is there anything Innofied Solution could have improved or done differently?

They met our needs. Looking back, I wouldn't have chosen Salesforce as an integrated partner and would have instead scaled the project down and made a minimum viable product. We used the Zuora billing system, which was an expensive choice and added a lot more cost to the project beyond what we paid Innofied. They advised us against doing this, but we didn't listen.

I’m the founder and CEO of Yummie Nation, which is an influencer network. Our mission is to unite everyday cooks, influencers, and brands through a common love of food. Built by food influencers for food influencers, our company has an edge on the tools our members want and need to grow their businesses because they're the same tools we use every day.  

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

We hired Innofied Solution to develop an interface that users love and implement it in order to provide the best user experience [UX]. In the process, they had to tackle challenges like fixing the SEO in our AngularJS app, integrating ad tech within the site, and working with CFML templates. 

SOLUTION

They conducted integrations, created a dynamic tagging system, and designed interfaces and solutions based on our requirements.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Innofied completed every request on time and made the whole process easy for us. They completed the design and development of our web app and managed social integration, dynamic ad tech integration, prerender.io integration, and SEO integration with AngularJS.
