BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm an engineering manager at iGuru, a tech company. We develop small applications for mentoring, courses, and assessment planning for students and professionals. That is the basic plan of our organization; we have some 20-plus employees based in Hyderabad, the same location. My basic responsibilities are managing the development team and the QA team.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Info Services?

We needed a development, QA, and testing team for a web and mobile application providing mentoring courses and assessments. We want to introduce and provide some training, hands-on courses, and assessments to prepare the students for certification.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We’re developing a web and mobile application for mentoring students and professionals. We provide the development team with Figma UX designs to review for any complexities or modifications. The team is responsible for developing the web and mobile application, and we have a roadmap for the features we want to implement. 

We identified a set of people with expertise in ReactJS and NodeJS technology, which we are using for the front and back end of this application. 

The app is available for Android and iOS, and the server is hosted on AWS. The team is also responsible for the app's authentication and authorization. The team uses the Lambda function and Cognito from AWS as authentication and authorization, so data can't be visible to anyone.

We regularly review where we are and whether enhancements or new features need to be added, depending on the market, the latest trends, and the competitors. The team needs to do basic assessments like self-discovery or psychometric exams to understand where the students are and what they think. All those things will be there.

Accordingly, the team guides students on whether they need to pursue higher education or specializations. So, accordingly, we provide courses or training sessions.

What is the team composition?

We work with six developers, including frontend, backend, DevOps teammates, and three QA testers. The full stack developer is our main point of contact for development. The QA lead, is also our main point of contact for QA.

How did you come to work with Info Services?

We found them through a business query. We partnered with them and got some references.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in November 2022, and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

So, we already have one client who will be taking care of the assessment of medical professionals, nurses, and doctors. So that is one success story. We delivered a proper assessment web application for them, including the mobile app. And next, we started developing our mobile application, for these courses and psychometric exams and other things, this is in progress. We will probably be getting ready for this mobile app by the end of June this year. But before that, we had already released six releases, six versions in 2024 with a success rate, and we have over 6,000 users.

We haven’t experienced any crashes, and the development and testing are very good. We’ve found some performance issues, and the team has taken care of them quickly.

How did Info Services perform from a project management standpoint?

We have biweekly sprint calls to identify upcoming features and prepare a roadmap for them, and we have team meetings with the development and QA teams' leads to get weekly total reports. So, we will work with them in parallel with the management team to make decisions accordingly. We use Jira for project management, Microsoft Teams, and email communication. 

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

We have a few developers who are extraordinary in this one. The development team lead. He's a point of contact for all the development activities for me, and from the QA team, another teammate, she's a lady, and she's taking care of all the QA activities. She's our point of contact regarding these reports, testing schedules, and other things.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re one of the best teams. They’ve upskilled themselves while working with us, most of whom are AWS-certified. They’ve implemented the latest technologies like Generative AI, and with a simple prompt, they generate multiple questions. That is one of the best things I have observed within this team; they come up with some new ideas and the latest trends because nowadays, we are hearing more about Generative AI, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Language, all these things. So the team is all young people, and they are coming up with more trends and the latest technologies, which will support and are very much required because this application is open to students only, and that will match the students' mindset. So that is a really good thing.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think there’s anything they can improve on. I think they are good.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

They’re scaling themselves very quickly. Let us suppose if I need some technology, they will be coming up with a week or 10 days, I could be able to see a few people with expertise in those things, and that is one of the best things I observed with them. I am happy with them; that is what I like, and I am good with that.
