What specific goals or objectives did you hire Honey Video to accomplish?

• To film a digital series for PBS KIDS that encouraged engaging conversations between parents and young children.
• To help establish the visual language of the series, which went back and forth between live action conversations and cutaway animation scenes based on those conversations.
• To be a collaborative partner throughout the production process. We wanted a production partner that provided ideas and creative problem solving. We found that partner with Mauricio and Honey Video.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

PBS KIDS Talk About is an Emmy Award winning and Webby Award winning series. Mauricio was with the series from the very beginning and was integral in creating the visual look of the series.

We met our goal to create a series where we could share authentic, practical, and engaging conversations between children and the grown ups in their lives in order to show our audience how kids think about, interact with, and navigate through the world. 

Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?

Mauricio was focussed on production filming during this project. All media was filmed, duplicated, and delivered on time. Mauricio is one of my top go-to colaborrative partners, always ready to brainstorm and create a production plan during pre production, as well as flexible enough to change plans on set if circumstances change.

I’m the owner of And Then Productions, a production company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Honey Video?

We hired Honey Video as our primary video production company for a television pilot we're creating.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We've been working with Honey Video throughout the entire production process, from pre- to postproduction. We were in pre-production for about a month, filmed over a few days, and are currently wrapping up the editing. The team has also helped with location scouting, securing filming sites, and assisting with casting.

What is the team composition?

Mauricio is my main point of contact. He’s been fantastic to work with. We work directly with him for the majority of the pre-production phase. During the actual production and filming, we’ve had a team of around 10 people involved.

How did you come to work with Honey Video?

I was interviewing several production teams in Los Angeles when I came across Honey Video on ProductionHub. I looked into their website and did some research on their past productions, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I then reached out to Mauricio, and he contacted me within 24 hours. We were on a phone call after that. Mauricio understood what we were trying to make and was collaborative from the start. He also showed interest in what we were doing and did everything he could to make it even better. Overall, it was that initial enthusiasm and professionalism that made me choose Honey Video.

We started working with Honey Video in May 2025, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Everything has been fantastic. We’ve hit every deadline that was initially mapped out, so punctuality and effectiveness are included in our success metrics. Moreover, the quality of the deliverables has been the highest.

How did Honey Video perform from a project management standpoint?

Honey Video’s project management has been exceptional. Everything has been clearly laid out, and all expectations have been put on the table. They’ve been completed as promised and when promised. Mauricio is available in any way necessary, whether it’s in person, via video conferencing, phone calls, or emails. Overall, he’s easily accessible to us.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their dedication to the project really stands out. They’re an active partner and collaborator. It’s like having an advocate trying to make what I’m working on even better than I can imagine. I also greatly appreciate their creative input — their ideas have been outstanding and have contributed to what we’re looking to develop.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I can’t think of anything. I’ve been thoroughly satisfied with this experience.

I’m the director of operations for Deli Fresh Media, an audio, video production, and entertainment management company. We’re a small independent film and audio company in Connecticut, just outside of New York City. We’ve been operating for about three years.

What challenge were you trying to address with Honey Video?

We needed a partner to help us with cinematography, photography, and editing.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Honey Video has helped us with cinematography, photography, and editing for several projects. We’ve had a television studio and a record that we’ve made. So, we’ve brought Honey Video on to help compile videos and record the entire process. They’ve also done cinematography for a television pilot and a short film. To sum it up, they have worked on comprehensive video production. 

Honey Video has also handled storyboarding, script writing, and all facets of pre-production and postproduction, including editing and audio mixing. They’ve been involved in almost every single part of each production, even if they haven’t had the title of it. Furthermore, the team has worked on a live film and a short film, but we haven’t worked with them directly on animation.

On the other hand, I’ve seen some of their postproduction animation work, and it’s promising. If I ever need it, I’ll seek them out. It's also worth noting that Honey Video has provided their own equipment and studios if necessary.

What is the team composition?

We mainly interact with Mauricio, the founder. His team consists of about 3–4 different people for each project. Many of them are based in Los Angeles, so we don’t meet them in person.

How did you come to work with Honey Video?

Mauricio is a close friend from college. We saw the work he had been doing in California and brought him over to work with us.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent close to $50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in September 2023, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Honey Video has been such a great asset. The videos are not publicly accessible at the moment, but they're wrapped up. Overall, people are blown away by the videos.

One piece of feedback I had the other day was from a good friend. He said, “Why doesn’t everything look like this?” He’s very professional. We have similar tastes, but he goes from working with Hollywood A-list actors to small short film productions and doesn’t compromise on quality. 

How did Honey Video perform from a project management standpoint?

Honey Video always meets deadlines and stays on budget. Moreover, they’re always clear and consistent. They get back to me very quickly with quotes or estimates, and I’ve never had any issues with communication.

We typically use phone calls, Google Meet, or Zoom. We also text and use phone calls a lot. Usually, it’s a phone call because they answer quickly, and we can get the details across right away.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Honey Video is well-versed in the industry. You can hire them for cinematography, and they’ll fill in all the gaps. As an indie producer, being able to lean on somebody who’s much more equipped to handle things in a way that’s not egotistical is a huge benefit. I could walk onto any production and feel like we’re going to play ball. Overall, the team really has the skills to fill the gaps of an entire production.

If there’s something I’m not aware of, I know that Mauricio and his team will be on the ball. He won’t hire anybody that I won’t feel the same way about.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Honey Video should continue to build out their team. They always have the people they need, but a lot of them are contractors. Having some people who could take work off Mauricio’s plate would be good. That way, he could focus and give his best. He doesn’t need to diversify so much because he’s such a talented cinematographer and videographer.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

If you’re working with Honey Video, be ready to hit the ground running. They’re not going to waste any time. You should be serious about what you’re doing because they’re going to catch your excitement, and they might be more excited than you are.

I’m the CEO and founder of THE SCHIFF GROUP, a consultancy company. We're in the business consulting industry.

What challenge were you trying to address with Honey Video?

We needed high-level video production services.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Honey Video provides high-level video production services for us. Basically, the team has produced several customized videos for us.

We initially brought them in to do a heavy reading of a very complicated script. They had to interpret and break out the script and plan accordingly around our shoot schedule to ensure they could do it. Their main original concern was to analyze all the clips they had made and do ongoing editing while the shoot was going on.

So far, the team has worked on packaging small packages of those edits into larger groups. They have also worked on timing, compression, and QC, mostly checking it against the PowerPoint slides implemented along with the content.

Honey Video has been in charge of overseeing every aspect of my company's 90-minute video project. This video needs to be a combination of live-action and animation. They've provided their own equipment and worked on audio mixing and sweetening.

What is the team composition?

Mauricio, the CEO and founder, is my go-to person for everything.

How did you come to work with Honey Video?

I’ve known Mauricio for years. He came in about 15 years ago as a production assistant. He showed tremendous skills in other areas but hadn’t been given the opportunity. I told him that if he could do this, his company would get the gig. He’s been with me ever since and will be going forward.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent at least $750,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in 2010, and the collaboration is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Honey Video has completed the project. In fact, our agreed 90-minute video has turned out to be exactly 89 minutes and 59 seconds, after the team focused on timing compression efforts.

However, it's worth noting that none of the other videos have been published. They’ve all been for private B2B or B2G (business-to-government) use. The team has truly worked with me and my staff to do that.

How did Honey Video perform from a project management standpoint?

Honey Video constantly meets their deadlines and stays on budget. We mostly communicate in person and through normal electronic means, such as email and texts. Overall, the project has been very detail-oriented. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m impressed with Honey Video's ability to take control of the project to make my life easier. They make outstanding suggestions and are very creative. They feel more like a much-needed appendage to our overarching project than a doer. I can leave Honey Video alone to do things, and I never have to worry if they're going to get done. They’re great communicators.

It’s intangible, but they’re nice people. My team loves working with them. We’re always happy when they’re back.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Mauricio does a fantastic job of self-improvement. We always have a post-project discussion. If something isn’t going exactly as we like, we discuss it, come to a solution, and move forward. There are never any problems. It’s always about improving the product.

Sometimes, my clients want something changed. However, we don’t just change things blindly. We talk about it as a group, and they give good suggestions.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Pre-production is critical. A producer's job is to communicate expectations ahead of time. Come in having done your homework so you can tell Mauricio and Honey Video's team exactly what you want. Establish who’s in charge of what and the ground rules. All of that is important so you have fewer surprises during the production, which can impact costs.
