Hatchworks AI will design, develop, and deploy the Meerir Minimum Viable Product to provide an immediately valuable, scalable foundation for an AI-powered airspace decision support platform. The work includes ingesting and processing ADS-B Exchange air traffic data via a batch process, supporting multiple geographies from the outset. Data pipelines will be established with a defined update frequency, and information will be structured in a warehouse for analytics. The MVP will allow users to ask a small set of predefined natural-language questions—such as aircraft counts, high-activity zones, and flight corridors—and receive clear text responses with supporting static visualizations. Basic sign-up, authentication, and single-role access will be implemented alongside a public-facing landing page and chatbot interface for querying air traffic data. A large language model will be integrated to interpret queries, retrieve relevant data, and trigger visualization generation. Core data visualizations will be built and embedded within chatbot responses. Testing will include quality assurance and user acceptance, followed by production deployment in the provided GCP environment. The engagement will run over 16 weeks covering product management, UX design, solution architecture, software engineering, AI/ML engineering, and quality assurance, following a crawl-walk-run roadmap for future capability expansion.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The Hatchworks AI engagement will deliver a production-ready Meerir MVP hosted in GCP, providing users with the ability to query air traffic data from multiple geographies in natural language. Wingbits ADSB data was successfully ingested through a stable batch process, structured in a data warehouse, and integrated into an operational chatbot powered by a large language model. The system accurately answers a set of predefined questions and returned validated results accompanied by two to three embedded visualizations, demonstrating the connection between the analytics layer and conversational interface. Basic user management, including sign-up, authentication will be implemented and tested. System stability, data accuracy, and visualization performance should meet agreed quality benchmarks, with all planned sprints completed and working features demonstrated at each stage. User acceptance testing will confirm functionality, usability, and performance against the defined acceptance criteria, marking a successful delivery of the project’s intended scope.

Hatchworks AI managed the project using a structured agile delivery model with clearly defined sprints and deliverables. The engagement began with Sprint 0 to establish the architecture, environment, and data pipelines, followed by a sequence of sprints focused on data preparation, user management, AI integration, visualization, and testing. Regular sprint reviews and product demos were conducted to show progress and allow for feedback, which ensured alignment with evolving needs. The team maintained consistent communication, quickly adapting to changes such as expanding beyond the original Tulsa geofence to support multiple geographies. Deliverables were provided in accordance with the agreed timeline, and adjustments were handled without significant disruption to the overall schedule. Hatchworks demonstrated responsiveness by incorporating feedback into subsequent sprints, refining features, and ensuring the final MVP met functional, performance, and usability requirements.

From the beginning of the process, they made articulating what we needed incredibly easy through a series of exercises that pulled the right information from us rather than us having to create it. Then, they crafted the job description, even the right title. 
And then the magic began. Candidate CVs that were so much better than any of our searches had ever uncovered appeared in our inboxes – and they were already prescreened. 
We received notes from HatchWorks’ recruiters about the ways in which candidates aligned with our needs, as well as honest assessments of where it may not be a perfect fit. We needed one of our video games to be ported to the Meta Quest 2 VR headset. We hired HatchWorks to reengineer the game to fit it for that product.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We worked together throughout the engagement, going from a pre-production phase to the final product. The game is a 3D puzzle game that players can manipulate in VR. HatchWorks developed the game for the headset using UNITY.

We don’t have any metrics at this point because we haven’t released the game yet, but they did everything we wanted them to, so we consider the engagement a success. Our internal team also tested the game, and it received high marks. The quality was extremely high, and HatchWorks went above and beyond. 

How did HatchWorks perform from a project management standpoint?

Their team stayed on time and within budget. We used email, phone calls, Slack, and video calls to communicate.

We were really impressed with Chuck (Senior Client Partner). He was extremely professional and got the job done. We also appreciated his trustworthiness; we knew it was the truth when he told us something. We were highly impressed with their professionalism and how easy their team was to work with. The quality of work was very high, and they delivered the results we were looking for.

This is ongoing staff augmentation but we needed a backend, front end and dev ops developer to help build out a team focused on building a work management application that focuses around geospatial strength.

Members are required to participate in backlog grooming, sprint planning, technical design and prototyping as well as sprint planning and bug triage etc. We run this team in 2 week sprints. Each member is expected to post daily updates on slack and to work with other teams in pursuit of building out this product.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Team members onboarded quickly and delivered value. They also got dialed in with the agile methodologies extremely quickly. The code being produced by the team was seen as incredibly advanced and was used as a reference for other team members.

The developers showed advanced skills taking initiative to write through unit tests, to anticipate issues around scale, encouraging story splitting and doing research spikes. The team was all consistently very responsive, showed deep expertise, advanced English and strong work ethic and software development best practices.

Very comprehensive. The developers write a detailed status daily. They set expectations well. All team members contribute actively to various team ceremonies. Their account leadership meets with our leadership every other week to ensure our experience with their team is superior in every way.

They technical search and also bin'ing this into sprints with themes I found very impressive. They take a very proactive approach on communication and expectation setting. Our strategy analyst worked closely with Hatchworks throughout the project, meeting with their team almost every day. We also held weekly status meetings and content reviews. The CTO reviewed multiple drafts to help guide the creation of the presentations. Finally, we conducted a pre-read with key executives to gain feedback and refine the board presentation.

HatchWorks Technologies was always a true partner that consistently delivered results. They are able to synthesize large amounts of data into a compelling and easy to understand story via their domain expertise and thought leadership.

I’m the director of program management for a national healthcare provider that operates in six states and has 80,000 employees.

What challenge were you trying to address with HatchWorks Technologies?

We hired HatchWorks for their IT support and management services. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our organization used HatchWorks in four capacities. One was to support an electronic medical record system that served around 80% of all the hospitals in the US. Their team supported the first wave of this system’s rollout to 60% of our business. 

Meanwhile, one of their program managers provided technical support for three of our core apps and contact center. The program manager that supported these apps also provided development support for a new technology under development as well as two of our quality systems that captured customer feedback on surveys and rated the calls that came into our contact center. 

Two other program managers from HatchWorks supported a large business transformation effort by our company. Specifically, we moved from a centralized model to a decentralized one with a three-month turnaround time. In other words, we had an aggressive deadline for this initiative, and their product managers supported five of the regions in which we rolled out the new model.

We worked with four people from HatchWorks, and all of them were program managers. 

How did you come to work with HatchWorks Technologies?

I had a longstanding relationship with HatchWorks from my previous roles, so I trusted them with this engagement and our business transformation initiative. To be specific, I reached out to our leadership team and told them that I needed assistance from HatchWorks. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $250,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement lasted from November 2021–February 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

One of the engagement’s highlights was related to the implementation of the electronic medical system into our business. When HatchWorks’ program manager joined that project, we were only three weeks away from the actual go-live date — we were behind schedule by 15%. Luckily, the manager helped us catch up within one week and maintained our progress. 

For the business transformation project, we had to roll out the new decentralized model in five regions by March 2022. One region was projected to finish by mid-April 2022. Because of the hard work of HatchWorks' program managers, we were able to finish everything by the end of February 2022. 

Overall, HatchWorks exceeded our expectations; they had truly daunting tasks, but they more than delivered. 

How did HatchWorks Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

HatchWorks was a great partner. They always met the deliverable dates that I gave them. They made sure that we stayed within our budget, and they were flexible in working with us. Overall, they did a good job of managing our projects. 

To communicate, we had regular phone calls. We also used a management system that their managers and I used for our day-to-day work. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

HatchWorks had an excellent understanding of the product development process. More than just managing a technological project, the team provided solutions and observations to help us move our initiatives forward. This added much value to our IT team. 

On top of that, they brought high-quality talent to the table for all the roles they filled. Their organization did an excellent job of identifying and securing great talent. As a result, I knew I could trust whoever they put on a team. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

If they had a more local presence, that would have helped our projects better. My product team didn’t have any budget for travel, so this wasn’t 100% HatchWorks’ problem. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

If you want to get the most bang for your buck with HatchWorks, you should have a clear vision of what will add the most value to your technology. Our business stakeholders don’t have a clear vision for some of our technologies, and this has slowed down some of the projects. Put another way, if you have a clearly defined vision when you come to the table, then you’re giving HatchWorks the fuel they need to get started.
