I am the owner of The Preschool Box, a subscription box e-commerce company that specializes in providing a monthly subscription of preschool games, crafts and activities directly to parents and their children to help prepare kids for school and make learning fun.

Our company grew exponentially over the past few years and we knew that we needed a partner to help develop a digital marketing strategy. We partnered with Harbor Marketing Agency to have them manage all of our social media, email and search advertising campaigns. Our primary goal was to develop a consistent customer acquisition cost while fueling our growth beyond our organic strategy.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Our primary selection criteria for this vendor was an agency that knows subscription boxes as well as the parent and education audience that we need. Harbor Marketing Agency is the choice for subscription boxes, they understand the business model and important metrics to track for recurring revenue.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and marking tools used.

First, Harbor Marketing developed a strategy based on our existing numbers and marketing materials. They suggested conversion optimizations improvements, initial budgets and content ideas. I appreciated how they were thoughtful with ramping up ad spend and didn't immediately spend more than target acquisition cost would allow. Every month we have a strategy call and they regular bring their own ideas and experiments to try. In addition to our social media campaigns they also have taken over our email marketing and are working with us to convert our old email lists from Mailchimp to Klaviyo.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We typically work with an Account Manager and a Campaign Manager.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The most important metric for me was to measure and track the blended customer acquisition cost. For our primary subscription box line they took a $100+ acquisition cost down to around $10 and gave us confidence where we can double down on growth.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We exchange emails regularly, usually once or twice a week and have a call to recap and plan about once a month. I found the communication frequency to be quick and thoughtful.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Harbor Marketing Agency is uniquely positioned to help us as marketing and subscription box experts. I have a high degree of confidence and trust in their assessments and rely on them as a true strategic partner.

I have no negative critique to offer!

We needed someone who managed our Facebook ad scheduling and maintenance. They also assist with some creative strategy.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

The team at Harbor does a good job at listening to your specific needs and goals and curating a program to achieve them. They are very Kpi/metrics based and that helps me stay focused on other projects while entrusting we are achieving results.

We have monthly calls to recap any feedback, findings, and successes. We have a shared Monday.com board where they have access to upcoming promotions and help us with scheduling, copy, and targeting.

We work with the owner at times and his team, usually 1-2 account managers.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

During the pandemic for example, they were solely responsible for 80% of our site traffic to our site. They increased our traffic to our site by at least 2000%.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We have a very effective workflow with Harbor Marketing agency. I do not feel like they are disconnected from us at all.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They are boutique and intimate and have very little turnover in the company so it makes it easier to rely on them.
