I've spent years staring at interfaces that make smart products feel broken.
An AI tool people quit halfway through, not because it was bad, but because nobody could find the next step. An analytics dashboard where getting one number took 6 clicks. Six. A DevOps platform built by brilliant engineers who never had a designer in the room.
The engineering behind all of these was solid. Every time, same story: nobody thought hard enough about the people actually using the thing. That's what my team does.
Three senior designers. Not an agency with a sales layer and a bench of juniors who do the real work. Five people in total (including me as a Lead designer and PM to do operational work and let designers design). I run the studio and I'm in Figma every day, not in meetings about meetings.
We work on AI products, dev tools, dashboards, fintech, healthcare SaaS, analytics platforms. Stuff where "make it pretty" is the wrong conversation. The question is whether it works.
What happened when we got involved: - AI content tool: simplified the entire interface, core actions went from buried in menus to one click away - AI consumer app: rebuilt the flow so users actually finish what they came to do instead of dropping off mid-process - Expense SaaS: full analytics dashboard, done in 8 weeks - DevOps platform: consolidated status info that was buried across 5 screens into single dashboard views
We say no to most projects. We're three people. I'd rather go deep on one product than spread thin across five and do a mediocre job on all of them.
