We were handling HR internally and were growing rapidly. We were still too small for a full internal human resources department. By outsourcing the labor, getting strategic advice, and taking advantage of a number of fully managed service offerings we have saved considerable costs and reduced a significant number of risks.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?1-2 - Stephanie mainly/almost exclusively. Position = HR.

Can you share any outcomes from the engagement that demonstrate progress or success?
I have nothing but extremely positive remarks regarding Stephanie. The attention to detail is second to none. Not to mention the learning curve associated with our business.
We are an extremely large client in start-up growth mode. We should likely have an entire HR department composed of many people. Stephanie came in and took on this entire function. Lots of development, and was able to be detailed enough to have our systems work together (as we are also a tech company).
Others on Grit have tried to help out, but errors were made. This is a very tech heavy company so one small mistake such as lowercase letter can break our systems. Stephanie took the initiative to handle herself because she can hold herself accountable for any mistakes. Once again, thats where her detailed manner shed light.
Overall I would rate her at the highest level. And us as a client (taking on the whole HR function), is very difficult. I would hire her at any company at a high level for HR.

Full Service HR without the cost of a Director level person. And often that ONE person is not well versed in everything. Lastly, the other online HR firms are advice and mostly legal forms only. They don't deal with the real HR day to day - payroll, finding benefits, answering questions, handling PTO, handbooks, etc.

How did you select this firm and what were the deciding factors?
I have worked with them before and wish I had met them 10 years ago. They bring the full service range, but at a much lower cost because truth be told, we don't have 40 hours of work of HR.

Grit HR is our HR department, soup to nuts. They oversee payroll, benefits, help us with any employee issues, keep us apprised of legal and filling issues etc. Plus if we need an expert in an area, they have one.

I have worked with 3 people, but mostly work with our primary HR Specialist Stephanie. She finds anyone else she needs within the company. So simple and she is incredibly responsive.

Can you share any outcomes from the engagement that demonstrate progress or success?
They took over the HR of a larger (100 employee+) company that was in transition. They took over HR for less than we were paying and it was 100 times smoother! With the current company where we had to do a lot of start up work, they have been indispensable. Making sure we are registered everywhere we need to be. Making sure I get payroll approved on time. They protect us.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
They have all the skills at a fraction of the price. I am realizing just how much time my previous HR folks wasted on nonsense. These guys not only get everything done, but my employees feel more engaged and heard. Good HR will always help you. Bad HR is like an anchor. I've experienced both. As I said earlier. I wish I had found these guys years ago.

Not so far. I am sure we will grow together. Business is growing quickly right now. I am sure they are up to the challenges as the come.

We’ve been working together since December 2021, and our relationship is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’ve saved around 10–15 hours per month, thanks to GritHR Solutions. Before working with them, our HR processes have been a mess.
How did GritHR Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?
GritHR Solutions meets their deadlines and stays on budget. We usually communicate using Slack.
What did you find most impressive about them?
GritHR Solutions is very reliable. I’ve already cycled through different freelancers, but those other folks haven’t been a good fit for my company. Meanwhile, GritHR Solutions has the consistency that I need, removing the need for me to find a new partner every few months.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I can’t think of anything. We’re pretty happy with everything so far.

We didn’t have any HR management capabilities, so we wanted to find a partner.

GritHR Solutions provides us with the full range of HR services. Their scope includes writing job descriptions, handling our recruitment, policies, and HR information system, managing the payroll and general transactions with our staff, administering employee benefits, and handling issues related to our employees. Additionally, GritHR Solutions has done various HR projects for us, including implementing an information system, an LMS, and a new payroll system.
What is the team composition?
I’ve worked with 2–3 people from GritHR Solutions, but I’ve worked most closely with the founder.
How did you come to work with GritHR Solutions?
I found GrtHR Solutions on Upwork.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent between $75,000–$100,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together around June 2021, and our engagement is ongoing. We have a monthly services agreement with them.

The system implementation projects have been successful; GritHR Solutions has completed them on time and within budget. We communicate via Microsoft Teams and email, and they use a project management system on their end, but I don’t know which one.
What did you find most impressive about them?
What sets GritHR Solutions apart from their competitors is their responsiveness, thoroughness, and competency; they’re a highly competent team. Out of the roughly 50 business relationships that we have to support our business, our relationship with GritHR Solutions is, by far, the best and most effective one. What challenge were you trying to address with GritHR Solutions?
We’re a small business of about 40 employees, and since my co-founder and I are operators, not HR experts, we didn’t have a good HR solution for our employees. We hired GritHR to help us.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
GritHR has assigned a consultant to act as our HR director. They manage everything related to HR, including compliance, employee relations, payroll, recruiting, and onboarding. Other tasks include handling employee agreements, company policies, leave administration, and benefits. Additionally, they’re writing our HR handbook.
They use Paycor for payroll and have moved our 401(k) to Human Interest. The team also organizes HR training that they deliver through a learning management system (LMS) that we use via our Paycor relationship. They’ve also established a social committee that organizes and designs our social events.
When it comes to recruitment, they handle everything from start to finish. They help write job descriptions and post them on boards. The team works with recruiting agents if needed, though they handle as much of that work as possible. They work with HireSelect to collect candidates’ resumés and give them personality tests. Additionally, they use a tool to send an email to candidates with 5–6 questions, and candidates can then use their computer to respond in video format. GritHR handles the onboarding process and then transitions the employee to the hiring manager.

We work with one HR consultant from GritHR.
How did you come to work with GritHR Solutions?
We found them through Internet searches and interviews. We looked at a number of different outsourcing companies and liked GritHR the best.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent over $50,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in March 2021, and it’s ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
GritHR is excellent, and they exceed our expectations. They’ve really helped build up our recruiting process; our company was about half the size when we started working with them. Our consultant gets goals every quarter, and they’ve been 100% successful in achieving them, plus additional goals.
Moreover, they’re fully integrated into our team. Our company follows an Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOD), so we have leadership meetings every week, and GritHR sits in on them as our HR lead. Because they have a lot of experience, they’re very good at anticipating our company’s needs. Overall, we couldn’t be happier with GritHR, and we plan to continue using them.
How did GritHR Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?
They’re excellent at project management. Since we only work with one consultant, she manages every HR project, and she’s been successful in all of them, which speaks volumes about her work ethic and quality.
We use Traction Tools to manage our EOS environment, and we use SharePoint to share files. Our consultant has an account within our Office 365 environment, and we use MS Teams for chat and video conferencing.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The best thing about GritHR is that our employees and team members love them. Our consultant adds value to our team, and bringing them in is one of the best things we’ve done.
We want to be known as a great company to work for and lacking an HR person didn’t speak too well about us. Since we brought in GritHR, our employees have really benefitted from it, and they report how good the consultant is.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I can’t think of anything they should do differently.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Hire them! GritHR’s consultant is an expert who knows what they’re doing, so trust their expertise and allow them to do their job.
