Great Mountain West/G54 Design Apparel has been nearly 60 years in the making. In 1954 George McLean, a brave entrepreneur, started the company selling comic postcards in the Intermountain West. At that time postage was 2 cents and postcards retailed for 5 cents; so for .07 you could buy a postcard and mail it anywhere in the Continental United States. At that time the company was called George Mc. Co. Later, George added Scenic Postcards to his line; he found that the diverse landscape of the Intermountain West was the perfect place to build the company showcasing the National Parks of Utah and Wyoming and the beautiful scenery of Idaho and Northern Nevada.
