Making the Dombey Glass: the Perfect Glass
The goal to create the perfect rocks glass began after a trip to Scotland in 2011. After years of experimentation, Ben Dombey started Glassblowerben, LLC, in 2014 to produce these glasses. Our first glass was The Dombey Glass, our medium size glass, perfect for a nice whiskey on the rocks. Different sizes evolved for those who take their scotch neat or enjoy a fresh mixed margarita with just enough salt on the rim. Every single glass that we make is inflated by lung power and is 100% hand made in the United States. As with anything handmade, glasses will vary slightly from one another, adding to their unique charm.
How It All Started
Glass came into Ben Dombey’s life in 2003. It was like a release, a calling, a passion, and an addiction all rolled into one beautiful muscular fire-dance. Ben has devoted his life to this calling ever-since. Ben majored in glass blowing at Tulane University in New Orleans and received his Bachelors of Fine Arts in 2008. He then went on to obtain his Master of Fine Arts in 2012 from the Rochester Institute of Technology. A versatile and accomplished artist, Dombey has traveled around the world to work with the best of the best. He currently lives in New Orleans with his wife and business partner, Allyson, and their 2 dogs. Together Allyson & Ben own and operate the GlassblowerBen studio where they enjoy innovating process, pursuing excellence, and making the small moments special.
