Sonus Art is the largest audio and video equipment store in Capital of Croatia, with more than 10 years of experience in selling hi-fi speaker components and home theater equipment.

The web store for Sonus Art brings new features such as intuitive navigation, auto complete search fields that offer customers the ability to search for products with reviews posted on the blog, wish lists, product comparisons, live chat with customer support and more.

The purchase takes place via one page checkout, reducing the possibility of leaving the cart and terminating the purchase due to a series of pages for registration, order confirmation and payment. Users can register via Facebook in just a few seconds.

The Sonus Art web store has advanced administrative capabilities, an integrated blog module, a simple overview of news, products on sale, prominent best-selling products, a cross-sale module, and a view of Google reviews.

Gauss was recommended to us by our partner, and we valued their previous experience, which they justified with their work. The deciding factor was that they worked already on webshop projcest which have proven to be succesful so we decied to work with them.

Sonus Art was named Web Retailer of the Year in the Audio and Video category. Also, Sonus Art was named the best in the category Omni channel Web retailer of the year 2016 (multi-channel sales).

The web shop of the year is the project that aims to identify and reward the best business practices of online retailers, and is based on an extensive regional survey of online shopping habits. That information and good practice which we continued over the years has proven to be especially useful and contributed to our development in 2020, during the pandemic outbreak

Communication plays such an important role in our lives.They were included in our project planing from the begining and helped us reach every milestone we have set We laid the good foundation together which was needed to launch our site.

In our situation, the increase in sales is in our most complicated places in our country. We wasted most of our time on resolving and canceling orders because it is a location that does not have the ability to deliver large items. Webshop does this automatically

I am CEO at Super Kartica doo Podgorica, largest multi partner loyalty program in Montenegro. Program started in 2017 and now we have almost 30% of population as program members.

We received a recommendation for the company and compared them with the other 5 possible executors. They were the only ones to offer all the solutions we needed in one place, and in the first interviews they proved to be the most competitive for the execution of this extremely important project for us.

They have developed a dynamic web into which all our existing data has been implemented. We first started an agreement on the design to improve it and facilitate access to clients, then we gave our goals that the project should achieve.

Gauss gave us an example of a possible concept that we approved given that they also gave more than we asked for. We are currently in the beta testing phase and when we have the final test results they will deliver the final product to us.

Initially 6 people were involved of which 2 were developers, 2 concept designers, 1 project manager and 1 programmer. As the phases progressed, several more developers and developers got involved in the project.

We are extremely pleased with the approach and effort around the entire project and us as a client. Also, more was done than required, which showed innovation.

The deadlines have been met and since we received the beta version earlier than planned, we expect it to be the same with the final version of the product.

We are very satisfied with the project management since the deadlines have been met before and there were no disagreements and delays in the project.

Communication is extremely easy and adapted to us since we are often in the field, we communicated through Zoom, e-mail and WhatsApp group conversations in order to respond to our requests as soon as possible

The whole team was extremely approachable, we were all interconnected making communication easier. We work as a team and not to solve everything through one member, which speeds up the realization. Extremely meticulous and reliable team

Given that we are at the current stage and more than satisfied, we have no complaints because all our requests have been fulfilled.

We wanted to develop a mobile application for Tourist Board Istria Gourmet&Wine Lovers, which is a unique mobile guide through the eno and gastronomic offer of Istria.

The goals of this project were to make an application that will, in a simple way, bring the customers closer to the top gourmet offer of Istria.

What were your goals for this project?

The main aim was to create tools for the promotion of the destination of Istria and its micro-destinations, but also as a tool for creating packages of special interests that have a finished product at their disposal.

How did you select Gauss Development?

I started working with Gauss from the beginning of the Company, and together we worked on the improvement of the tourist offer of Istria and Dalmatia. As time went on, we worked on many different and interesting projects.

Basically, everything I imagined to improve and update tourist experience for our coast and country they delivered it, technology-wise, whether it is the redesign, mobile application, web development, hosting transfer, you name it.

What was the team composition?

What I truly admire about their Company and the people who work there, no matter how many projects they have, they somehow manage to dedicate themselves to every project and task that comes their way, so on some projects, I worked with 2 Project Managers, on some only with the designer, and on some only with people from the mobile team. They are all ready to jump in to finish the project, much to my delight.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Application is dedicated to all lovers of eno-gastronomy: from journalists, opinion leaders, specialists in the field of eno-gastronomy to future guests.

Attractive facilities were presented - the best restaurants and taverns in the region, the highest quality winemakers, olive growers, oil mills and wine bars, then truffles, cheesemakers, prosciutto makers, honey producers, the best hotels in the region, and other attractions.

The application is directly connected to the official portal of the Tourist Board of the Istrian County, from which the calendar of events is automatically downloaded so that users can be informed at any time about what is happening in the region.

The application can be viewed in four languages: Croatian, English, German and Italian.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The Gauss team is open in communication and adapts quickly and easily to the circumstances. They are very flexible and cooperative according to modern agile principles and using agile development methodologies.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The fact that the Gauss team has interests and experience in different areas of business has facilitated communication and development of the idea, but also implementation ultimately.

They are friendly, open-minded experts with whom we actually have a partnership and collaborative relationship.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the senior vice president of a next-generation banking platform. I was a board advisor when we started the collaboration with Gauss. After our company was acquired, we continued the collaboration with Gauss.

What challenge were you trying to address with Gauss Development?

There’s been quite a demand for mobile banking over the last few years, so we’ve taken on Gauss as our partner for frontend development.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Gauss is developing our banking app natively for Android and iOS, using Android Studio and Swift. We provide the design, and they handle the frontend development.  

As a banking provider, we have quite strict rules on information security and QA. We have to comply with ISO 9001, and all our external partners must commit to those guidelines and standards.

Gauss is also providing maintenance services for the parts they develop.

They’re in constant contact with our employees and clients to define specific aspects of the project.

What is the team composition?

We have one team for iOS and one for Android. We’ve worked with 20–25 people from Gauss. We always have a project manager leading the project at a solution scale and two other project managers, one for each technology.

How did you come to work with Gauss Development?

They had positive reviews from our mutual customers. Since we are a software solution provider and integrator, we recognized that mobile development is quite specific, so we chose to have external partners for this project. We had other companies in mind, but Gauss offered the most value for the money.

How much have you invested with them?

So far, we’ve spent $100,000–$500,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Gauss around February 2016, and the project is ongoing. Gauss is maintaining the apps and adding new features.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve always had a good collaboration with them. They always follow our strict programming rules. We have internal procedures based on ISO standards, and we keep metrics on every solution. We have a testing department, and our clients also test the products.

In general, Gauss is getting better every day. They’re improving procedures based on our feedback. Things were fuzzier initially, but they’ve improved processes at every step, resulting in constant product improvement.

How did Gauss Development perform from a project management standpoint?

The communication has always been excellent, but meeting deadlines hasn’t always been so great. We’ve had some rough deadlines, but that’s normal for software development. The communication is open and straightforward. Even when we had issues with middle and lower management, their top management jumped in to restore the quality of the relationship.

They have a project management system on their side, but since we have strict regulations, so we have them to use our tools. There’s been double-tracking, on their side and ours, but everything was always aligned with our project management.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They listen to what we say, and they’re humble. They’re always open to our suggestions, guidelines, and requests. They don’t follow us blindly, and they always consult us on how a mobile app should work. In terms of communication and project management, they align with our requests and needs. That’s the main reason we’ve had such a long relationship with Gauss.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There’s always space for improvement, but they always adjusted quickly when we pointed out something. I can’t think of anything that they’d need to improve currently. Just in the last two weeks, we’ve made some improvements for the delivery of the solution, using more automated technologies. Improvement is a part of both our businesses.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

The most important thing is to know what you want. Gauss is strong technologically, and they have quite a good team of developers, but the main focus of someone ordering a solution from them should be to keep the request focused.

The challenges we’ve had were mostly because we didn’t quite understand what we were requesting and didn’t explain things thoroughly. If the project requirements are clear, Gauss will deliver the best solution.

I am CEO and the owner of Uciliste Modus, a Croatian educational institution with multiple branches throughout the country that provides educational programs for adults. We cover a wide area of educational programs and provide adults with the possibility of lifelong learning.

We got in touch with Gauss to develop for us a custom business platform to cover and digitize our business processes. After the first phase and implementation of the platform, in phase two, they continued to develop an e-learning portal website that is hosted and is fully integrated with said developed platform.

When we started looking for a solution, we researched and talked with our partners, and Gauss was one of the top players that came into the picture. We arranged a meeting.

The business platform covered our processes as an educational company concerning employees, clients, documents, and e-learning management.

Additionally, we immediately upgraded to a separate fronted e-learning portal that is part of the platform. The solution was built with Node.js and Angular with MySql database

Depending on the project phase's needs, there were 2-4 developers and a project manager. In the start, a designer was consulted as well. Developer types (frontend - backend) and the number changed throughout the project phases. Also, there was one designer involved.

Before this project, we were not quite digitalized. We had to use multiple tools to keep up with regular business activities. Digital transformation of our processes and putting most of our activities into one application certainly helped us save time and money and have a more straightforward overview of our daily activities.

Upon our concept inputs, Gauss made additional specifications and suggestions and collaborated with us to ensure that we all agree on how to do the project.

 We used their collaboration tools to track the project tasks' progress and upload documents and comment with the project manager and other persons involved in the project. Project management was defined as agile, and we had meetings according to need as communication was continuous.

We had a briefing call every week to see the status of the project and if we needed to adjust or change something during the development. Types of communication were – a collaboration tool, video and audio calls, and few meetings in person.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Persons that we met in Gauss were all open and proactive people focused on delivering what we needed. We always had a strong sense of how our project is developing as their process is very transparent.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

We plan to continue to work with Gauss in future upgrades to the existing solution. We are satisfied with how they work, communicate and deliver.

Croatian Academic and Research Network – CARNET was founded by Republic of Croatia . It was established as an institution for information and information infrastructure in education and science.

One of our implementations of informatization of primary and secondary education systems, through planning, development, organization, implementation and monitoring of key aspects of informatization, in cooperation with the ministry responsible for education and science, I work as a IT Specialist, and lead the project Gauss is working on.

The CARNET system is designed for educational and academic institutions, but also for individuals. By implementing the system, useful content is available for distance learning and provides equal access to all users always and everywhere, all with the aim of strengthening the capacity of the school, creating new competencies and foundations for lifelong learning.

How did you select Gauss Development and what were the deciding factors?

Due to real financial and time constraints, teachers going to other places for education is often not feasible or causes interruptions in regular classes. With the implementation of the platform for the distribution of multimedia content, education is provided at a distance with equal access to all users at work or from their own home at any time of day.

Gauss and CARNET worked together before on Project for which was submitted on public tender and it was only natural to continue development

CARNET is a system that combines TV and Youtube and allows users to choose to watch / listen to video and audio content when they want. The solution allows you to view audio and video content on various devices (browsers, smartphones, tablets, Smart TV, Set Top Boxes) according to a pre-arranged schedule or on request.

Users can watch content when it suits them best and in a location of their choice. We use Apple's HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) protocol which is the current standard for on-demand content playback.

Users can watch video content on multiple channels, watch missed episodes, or revisit content after watching.

Developers and Managers from Gauss d.o.o. participated in the creation of content intended for online and offline channels, multimedia content and visual presentation at the final launch of the project. Until now on the Project worked 3 Project Managers and 5 developers.

CARNET is available to users as a source of knowledge, information and educational content. Use of this platform is completely free and available from all over the world. The system was developed with the aim of accessibility to users, it has a minimalist design and simple, intuitive icons.

We communicated trough mail and online platform, as well as live meetings when necessary. It wasn't a problem for them to travel to Zagreb when needed to.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I like how they accept feedback & constructive criticism. It is so easy to approach them with our requests and comments, which they never take personally.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Gauss has a reputation as a customer-friendly establishment, but customer management is one area of improvement for employees that you can never spend too much time on.

We worked with Gauss on developing our website back in 2015. Our goal was to produce an informative and engaging website for the largest regional festival of extreme sports.

We chose Gauss because our good relationship with them and since we promote local business and local scene. Their experience and expertise in web development were “must-have” for this project.

Outcomes include UI design and multilingual webrich site offers all the information about events, schedule, list of athletes and artists, accommodation information, subscription to newsletters and social media links.

Important information is well-structured, easily accessible. The main navigation is simple and intuitive. Advanced search allows you to browse the set of information easily.

From the beginning we had project manager assigned and he guided us through all the stages of the project, from concept to testing and releasing. For communication we used their Active Collab tool.
