In 1933, Simonson Station Stores Inc. began when the Simonson family got into the petroleum business with gas stations and travel centers throughout North Dakota and Minnesota. That company went on to become one of the Upper Midwest’s most successful and innovative retail petroleum outfits, and as it grew it provided a firsthand look at what a successful company should expect from its freight carrier.
