Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the founder of Melotti Media Copywriting Agency. We are a copywriting, content marketing, and brand messaging agency.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Font & Swatch?

I had an outdated brand that I had since I started my business 12 years ago. It was good, but it was very immature, as you can expect from someone who is not a designer. I needed someone who could redesign my brand.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

I hired Font & Swatch to design my brand and logo. I wanted to evolve my business to be taken more seriously and reestablish and reposition my brand as a proper marketing agency. The scope of work was not just to create any brand, but to reflect the attributes of what my brand is going to be and how I want it to be positioned. The deliverables were to create a full-suite brand. This involved new logos, colors, fonts, and a brand guidelines around all the design. They also created business cards, pull-up banners, and stationery for me and designed my website.

We started the engagement by briefing Font & Swatch on my business’ trajectory. I gave them parameters around my preferences on the colors and the name. I let them have full reign after that. They asked a lot of questions and conducted a ton of research on other brands that shared similar attributes, colors, and things that they envisioned. They then brought me into the first session, where they had mood boards. The mood boards allowed me to find what I liked and didn't like, and that enabled me to determine and give them more direction as to where I saw my brand visually going.

About three weeks later, they showed me some of the concepts and color palettes that they developed based on my preferences. My one brief note was I wanted orange in the color, so they showed me all the potential colors that could be paired with orange. About two weeks later, they got me into the final session, where we designed all of my branding, logos, and colors. I got to choose and finalize everything. It was a very exciting, thorough, and well-researched project, and I really enjoyed it.

I’ve worked with Kristin (Brand Account Director), Elissa (Founding Director & Design Strategist), and Grant (Owner & Creative Lead) from Font & Swatch. 

How did you come to work with Font & Swatch?

I chose Font & Swatch because they have a good reputation, and their work is always impeccable. There’s nothing that they do that is ever sub-quality. They were more expensive than other firms, but I knew that they would do an excellent job and that I would get the best from them.
    
How much have you invested with them?

I’ve spent around $35,000 so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in January 2020, and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

My business has grown exponentially. I wouldn't just say that that's just because of the brand, but we have gone from two to eight staff since that time. We are also now seen as a credible copywriting agency not just in Australia but internationally because we have a brand that represents us well and looks very professional.

While I can't attribute a number to it, I would say that we've seen 400% growth in business and revenue. The main goal of this project was to be seen as a credible message marketing agency, and we've definitely established that through all of our channels.

How did Font & Swatch perform from a project management standpoint?

Font & Swatch has performed well in terms of project management. The project took longer than I thought it would, but that's because of my lack of knowledge about how long branding usually takes. But Font & Swatch has been efficient, and they’ve kept me knowledgeable about the situation at all times.

We typically communicate through email, phone calls, and in-person meetings.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m most impressed with Font & Swatch’s attention to detail and keen eye for excellence. Font & Swatch is passionate about what they do, and they take the branding process extremely seriously. They take the time and meticulous attention to do research and deliver a well-crafted brand.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They need to brand themselves on their websites a little better.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Don't look at the price. Look at the quality, and look at how long you will have your brand.
