Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the CEO of a startup called Take Your Seat. We provide solutions for companies and boards who are seeking to achieve board diversity and inclusivity. We also offer executive leadership training and have built a community to connect Black professionals with different boards.

What challenge were you trying to address with The Fetterman Firm?

As a new startup, we knew hiring an attorney would be critical to our success. Attorneys can act as trusted advisors. As we grew, we sought legal services to help with contracts, staff onboarding, and partnership agreements.

We began working with The Fetterman Firm in December 2020, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The Fetterman Firm’s advice plays a critical role in our decision-making process. They’ve helped us negotiate everything from simple leases to multi-year vendor agreements. They also shepherded us through one of our most significant partnerships with the Nasdaq exchange.

How did The Fetterman Firm perform from a project management standpoint?

The Fetterman Firm is excellent from a project management perspective; they're very responsive and detail-oriented. One of the attorneys is a race car driver, and he’s very good at explaining things to us without overcomplicating them. They provide detailed, thoughtful responses to our questions and give wonderful advisory opinions and direction, which they send us in writing. 

Working with The Fetterman Firm has been great. They provide excellent value for their pricing, and we never feel like we’re being overcharged. Their fees are not astronomical, which sets them apart from other firms. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

We have been most impressed with their quick response time and personable nature. The Fetterman Firm is always accessible and happy to help us with critical situations during weekends or inconvenient times. They’re also very quick to present solutions and identify the solution with the lowest risk, which is essential to us as a startup. 

Are there any areas they could improve?
