Every client and project is different, so we don't apply a single collaboration model across the board. The first thing we establish is how involved the client wants to be and where that involvement is most valuable. Strategy and creative phases are highly collaborative. If we are building a brand identity, that means guided workshops to align on visual, tonal, and sonic direction before anything is made. If we are developing a documentary or branded film, it means deep collaboration during creative development to make sure we are telling the right story. If we are building a brand campaign, it means working closely to pressure test the idea before execution begins. Once we move into execution, the nature of collaboration shifts. Clients stay equally informed through structured touchpoints, reviews, and status updates, but the work is largely in our hands. That is by design. The early phases exist to build enough shared clarity that execution can move with confidence. We meet first. We determine how involved you want to be and where that involvement matters most. Then we build a plan around that and deliver against it.

The truest measure is whether the client comes back. That only happens when the work landed, the objective was met, and the process didn't add stress to an already difficult job. Those three things have to be true at the same time. But the measure we're most proud of is harder to quantify. More than once, a client has come to us with a direction they were confident in, and we've challenged it. Not to be difficult, but because we saw something they couldn't see from inside it. And they've ended up somewhere better than where they started. That's the lens Faculty brings. It's why brands with options have chosen a smaller agency over a larger one. We're not just executing a story. We're helping find the right one.

It depends on where in the process the change happens, and we are transparent about that from the start. Some things have hard constraints — key talent, locations, and complex post production pipelines like VFX or 3D animation require early alignment to avoid overages. We make those walls clear before we build against them. Where Faculty has an advantage is that our team understands the full pipeline, not just their phase of it. When something needs to change, we can assess the impact across the entire process quickly and find a way to route around it. Most of the time we can accommodate, and when we can't, we say so early enough to make a real decision rather than a reactive one. We are realistic about what's moveable. We are always open to finding a way.

Onboarding at Faculty starts before any creative work begins. Every project opens with a brief, completed by the client and reviewed together on a kickoff call. We want to understand the project, the goals, the audience, and the deliverables, but we are also learning something else: how the client makes decisions, who has final approval, and how they prefer to engage with work in progress. Some clients want to be in every room. Others need work fully buttoned up before they can react to it. Neither is wrong, and Faculty adjusts to both. Knowing that early is what prevents friction later. By the time we move into creative, there are no surprises about process, timeline, or expectations. The brief does that work so the collaboration can.
