Experion Technologies helped a large multinational improve productivity by tracking its field sales force and measuring sales metrics by developing a custom CRM system.
Experion Technologies successfully deployed a custom CRM system that worked well in dozens of countries. The data from the system has allowed the client to make strategic decisions for purchasing and distribution.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this
client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We are a group of Indian exporters for buffalo meat. We are one of the largest exporters of this type of meat in the world, working with 63 countries mainly in the Gulf region. We have also ventured into products like oils and fats, bakery ingredients, vegetable pulps and purees, and so on.
I am the senior IT manager of the organization. I am in charge of all Oracle applications, including rollout implementations and support.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Experion Technologies?
We have recently ventured into the bakery and ice cream areas. We didn't have a CRM [customer relationship management] solution and were not able to track our field sales force. Particularly in the case of ice cream, we focus on B2B transactions, so sales tracking was very important.
We are using an Oracle ERP [enterprise resource planning] system, so we've evaluated their other offerings as well as ones from different vendors, and zeroed in on Experion as a partner.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
We have used Experion Technologies’ FieldMax solution, which is a salesforce and productivity tracking tool. It allows us to track each person's daily tasks as well as our overall sales.
We have leveraged Experion's help for other parts of our business, including support and development of applications from scratch for our other businesses. Experion Technologies is our IT partner for CRM and cloud-based solutions, as well as mobile applications.
How did you come to work with Experion Technologies?
We put together a list of requirements and assessed whether we could get these functionalities from our existing ERP software. It was not the case, and even if it was, it could not serve as a mobile solution. We sent out the requirements document to 5–7 vendors, including Microsoft and Experion Technologies. We had a demo session with each of them and evaluated the functionality of their proposed solutions. We also took feedback from the market, namely the companies who were already using those products. Based on this information, Experion was chosen as an application partner.
How much have you invested with Experion Technologies?
The cost of Experion's work has been substantial but fair.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with Experion more than two years ago. The collaboration is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?
Our project with Experion has definitely been successful. We've seen its benefits, especially for our ice cream business. The platform has helped the person in charge of that area make decisive strategy calls. We are able to get reports of secondary sales and push schemes through to our distributors.
I am able to track my sales force better. In the past, I didn't have any evidence of their work with clients. Experion Technologies’ application provides GPS coordinates for each salesperson, so I can actually mark vendors in.
How did Experion Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
Experion has a very good project management team. The person I've been in touch with is very down to earth and available for support.
What did you find most impressive about Experion Technologies?
In the software industry, after-sale support does matter, and we've had some very bad past experiences with other vendors. In Experion's case, the team has been very professional, is always one phone call away, and has always respected deadlines. Experion has actually pushed us to stick with the project plan.
Are there any areas Experion Technologies could improve?
Experion could open an office in Mumbai, but they're still only one call away, so it's not important.
What tips or recommendations could you share that might increase the likelihood of success with Experion Technologies?
Clients need to have basic business requirements clearly stated to Experion. With any IT company, we need to confirm that our goals have been properly understood in order to ensure a correct result.

Experion Technologies helped a transportation company launch a new vanpooling service in Kuwait that allowed passengers to summon passenger vans to their homes via a mobile application.
Experion Technologies was a key player in a successful product launch that is already generating revenue for the client. Their team was supportive, responsive, and worked quickly to deliver the MVP within 45 days.
The client submitted this review online.
BACKGROUND
City Group Co. K.S.C. (CGC) is a leading public transport operator in Kuwait. Through its Citybus division in Kuwait, CGC is committed to deploying global best practices towards providing the following: a reliable, safe, and pleasant service to all its passengers; a rewarding working environment for its staff; and effective, efficient, and environmentally friendly public transport solutions to its governmental and private sector clients.
In 2011, CGC's Citybus division will provide more than 40 million passenger journeys.
CGC also has three wholly-owned subsidiaries:
Transport and Warehousing Real Estate Group W.L.L. (TWREG) is engaged in providing dry and cold store facilities to a large number of customers in Kuwait.
Kuwait China Bus Company (KCBC) is the exclusive dealer of Yutong buses in Kuwait. Yutong is the world’s largest manufacturer of buses.
Boodai Aviation Group (BAG) is a leading full-service travel company.
My role as systems and service delivery manager is to manage all technology projects in public transport domain, infrastructure, and cloud services for CGC. I am also responsible for managing 34 staff members of the service delivery team on the bus route network.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
Citybus was planning to launch a brand-new vanpooling operation which offered a door to door transport service. We needed to promote the service, educate on how it operates, and source information for the masses about their transport needs in the country. We also required the ability to book and pay online for the service. To be able to accomplish what was mentioned before, we had a unified opinion that we will need technology to assist with the roll out of the transport solution and daily management of the operation.
SOLUTION
Below is the detailed scope of the project with delivery dates that were met on time. Experion Technologies was responsible for deploying the complete end to end solution as listed below with post-delivery maintenance services.
01 August 2016 - Release 1: Representational Product
Homepage - static content: pooling concept, contact information, promotional information. It is assumed that CGC shall share the text content for this as per their marketing strategy.
User registration and login using email id.
Users can search existing running pools. The information shown will include: the start point, finish point, time of pick up, time of drop, days of the week for the operation, and monthly fee.
Users can propose new pools with details like start point, finish point, time of pick up, time of drop, days of the week for the operation, and beginning and ending date of the pool.
The start point and end point can be selected by clicking Google map on the screen.
The operator will be able to view the details of proposed pools and number of people interested in joining each pool.
If needed, Operator can modify the start time, start point, finish point, finish time, intermediate waypoints of the route, vehicle type, capacity, threshold, etc. of proposed pools. The Operator will set the fee for the pool.
01 September 2016 - Release 2: Minimum Viable Product
Includes all features in representational product release plus the following:
Homepage with static content updated about pricing structure, contact information, fleet information, and terms and conditions. It is assumed that CGC will share the textual content as per their legal/marketing strategy.
Users can search existing running pools. Information on the start point, end point, time of operation, days of week operated, seats available, fee, etc. will be presented to the user for each pool. The user can subscribe to the preferred pool. Once the subscription is confirmed, the user will be given a transaction reference number and presented with the list of office locations where the cash payment can be made.
If the user does not find a suitable running pool, they can propose a new pool with details like start point, finish point, time of pick up, time of drop, days of the week for the operation, and beginning and ending date of the pool. The user can point the pickup and drop locations by clicking on the Google map shown on the screen. Alternatively, he can look at pools proposed by other users and express interest in joining if he finds a good one.
The operator will be able to view the details of proposed pools and number of people interested in joining each pool.
If needed, the operator can modify the start time, start point, finish point, finish time, intermediate waypoints of the route, vehicle type, capacity, threshold, etc. of proposed pools. The operator will set the fee for the pool.
If the number of people interested in a proposed pool is higher than the defined threshold for the van, the Operator may decide to launch it as a running pool after defining the key attributes of the pool. At this point, an email will be sent to all the users who have expressed interest in joining that pool, advising them to log into the system and subscribe to the pool.
The operator will have the facility to add/remove vans in the service. Seating capacity and the minimum threshold of each van can be defined.
As and when a new pool is launched, the system will block an operating time slot for the allocated van during the pool’s active period. A new pool can be launched only if there is a free time slot left for the allocated van.
Cashiers will be able to enter details of payments received in cash from users, print receipts, and generate collection and due reports.
Fees will be fixed for a pool. Even if users board from an intermediate waypoint, the fee remains constant.
If a user drops out, there is no refund of paid fee. In that case, seat availability on that pool will be announced on the website to attract other users.
If more users drop out of a pool (below minimum operating threshold), then admin will receive a prompt, and operator may declare closure of the pool and set a final date. The final date will be after the passenger with the furthermost date of subscription expiry is served.
Integration with KNET for payments (credit/debit cards). It is assumed that CGC shall register with KNET and provide the credentials to Experion Technologies for this integration.
Private hire option and its configurations – for private hires, only contact details for CGC’s office will be included. This will be handled over phone or in person meetings.
Video on home page showing the usage of the vanpooling application.
08 September 2016 - Release 3: Van Pooling Standard Product
Includes all features in first and second release plus the following:
Facebook and Google Plus integration for user registration and login.
Capability for the customers to publish proposed pools on their Facebook page for canvassing friends.
SMS integration for notifications.
Analytical reports for management.
We had invited various companies to participate in a competitive tendering process, and Experion Technologies was chosen based on the highest rating received as part of the tender evaluation criteria. Also, Experion Technologies was selected based on their experience and know-how with the transport domain.
Our initial project engagement was in the $10,000–$50,000 range. We will soon be embarking on further development and expansion of the technology that will take the total project value to $200,000–$500,000 range.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
The project was a resounding success considering we had only about 45 days to deliver from ideation to MVP [minimum viable product]. The project delivered the key criteria of promoting the concept with a self-explanatory video and allowed for the masses to be aware of this unique service offering. The key metric for us was revenue generation in the last quarter of 2016. After the launch of the service, we matched the expected revenue numbers. Unfortunately, I will not be able to share them due to confidentiality.
The unique feature about working with Experion Technologies was their staff availability throughout the project development and delivery considering they are in a different time zone. They are two hours and a half ahead of Kuwait. There was never a moment that you could not connect with True Voice Media to discuss the project. The staff was always flexible with their approach to our project requirements which were highly fluid considering the startup nature of the project. The staff was also highly knowledgeable and good at capturing our requirements in brief sessions. Updates were timely and allowed us to keep abreast of the project timeline.
Also, the management team at Experion Technologies was very supportive and did not allow for any change requests to be raised although we were often bringing new requirements to the table. We even added a different language as part of the development.
We have no criticism of the Experion Technologies team. We believe they are well placed to deal with a diverse nature of projects especially startups that bring new concepts to life.

Experion Technologies created apps on iOS and Android to help a client lure customers into hundreds of retail locations and indirect sales locations across the Middle East.

BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am a project manager for a retail mobile company that was established in Dubai two years ago. We sell and repair mobile phones, with over 200 shops in the Middle East, including South Arabia. We sell phones through multiple channels, both direct and indirect shops. I am involved in application development.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Experion?
We have a small development team of 20 people, but we occasionally have a need to outsource.
SOLUTION

Experion provided development for two of our projects. These were a tablet app for iOS and Android, and a website through which we control our telecom products.
How did you come to work with Experion?
We reviewed multiple Indian companies which we found online and through references, out of which Experion provided the best offer in terms of cost and support.
How much have you invested with Experion?
I cannot share this information.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with Experion two years ago. We continue using Experion for support services.

Are there any areas Experion could improve?
I've visited Experion's offices twice and never found something for them to improve.

Experion Technologies partners with a Swedish IT consultancy to deliver white-labeled client work. Experion focuses on architecture and its partner delivers mostly graphic design work.
Experion Technologies continues to satisfy end clients consistently. Unlike most offshore teams, they question the client and find better ways to meet the end goal.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this
client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I run a large startup, along with a consulting business with a focus on doing local delivery of IT services in Sweden using partners abroad. I am the managing director and co-founder. Since I’m a startup person, I have been involved with several companies in the last 5–10 years.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Experion?
There were two things. First, we see them as our offshore partner for the startup and the company we are now running. Second, we still have projects where we help other clients get IT services done.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
For our company’s projects, we have 30% of the IT delivery done locally in Sweden and 70% done through Experion. For our clients, we coordinate locally and complement using Experion offshore. We know the business so we help with those processes and ideas while Experion handles mostly architectural and design works. Their work has been needed. We will quite often do the graphic design back in Sweden. Another way they support me is with their excellent business analysis team.
How did you come to work with Experion?
We went through quite an extended request for proposal process to find Experion. I looked for companies that were partner-owned, not too big and not too small. I’ve worked a lot with major, big offshore consulting firms, so I wanted to collaborate with a small or medium-sized firm. We stayed out of India because we saw the attrition rates were too high there.
How much have you invested with Experion?
Some years we paid about $100,000 and others less. It varied.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them six or seven years ago. The development is ongoing and we’re still using them now.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?
Our clients knew that we had standards already in place and that everything needed to be checked. Therefore, we gave quite strict orders to Experion, qualifying them according to processes. That way, we could say then to our clients that, “We worked on this order.” Also, it’s good that they can take on smaller pieces where you need a proof of concept, while also being able to do bigger projects. They offer good service to foreign clients like us.
How did Experion perform from a project management standpoint?
We try to go down there and meet them once or twice a year. That’s when we deep-dive into JIRA, backlogs, testing details, and other statistics. Typically, they are involved early on in our ideas.
What did you most impressive about Experion?
I selected them and continue to use them because I can see that the partners and owners are very closely involved in the actual business. Their consultants are very engaged on the ground. It’s not a big silo organization, which is really important. Experion works hard to have the attitude of daring to question and daring to have their own ideas, not just do what they’re asked to all the time. They question quite a lot, which we like. In contrast, a traditional offshore firm tends to say yes. That’s why we have continued to use Experion for such a long time.
Are there any areas Experion could improve?
Always. We can all do that. One piece that we are picking up on and I’m encouraging them to do more of is to reach further on usability and graphic design. It’s easier to build robust structures, but sometimes you need to simplify other products. It’s also on us to communicate this to them.
What tips or recommendations could you share that might increase the likelihood of success with Experion?
Meet them on-site. It’s a large project, so take your time and travel down. I think that investment is extremely efficient. Like any relationship, you get very close when you see it at hand. Everyone gets more engaged when they know you’ve shown up. They would do a good job anyway, but I think it’s one step further.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this

transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We provide organizations with the evidence-base to enable future innovation in transport. We have more than 1,000 clients across 145 countries, driving positive societal and economic benefit worldwide. We have a future-oriented approach for most areas of surface transport, specifically transport safety; human factors and behavioral science; intelligent transport systems; infrastructure asset management; and sustainability and climate change.
The organization is knowledge-based with a lot of futuristic research taking place for different transport challenges. Much of our research leads to the development of innovative software solutions. I head the strategic applications area of the company.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Experion Technologies?
We had a product with a 15-year track record for managing safety. It was evolved internally during this period and has many implementations across the world, specifically in Africa, the Middle East, and East Asian regions. We had resource constraints around its scaling, so we approached Experion for help in delivering bigger, faster projects, including product re-engineering and implementation support.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Our product is one of the leading traffic safety management solutions. Experion's essential role was re-engineering the product and helping us implement, customize, and support it.
How did you come to work with Experion Technologies?
We looked at several small to medium software vendors. We wanted to move away from the traditional outsourcing model to an outcome-based relationship where the risks are shared by the development partner. The partner would have some stake in terms of risk and in shaping the sectors of the whole product from a customer point of view. Beyond offering a set of requirements for the company to develop, they needed to be willing to invest in the product, making sure that it would be successful. Experion was ready for this commitment, they met the cost and technical requirements to start.
How much have you invested with Experion Technologies?
That information is private.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with Experion in 2011 and have an ongoing collaboration. The current version of our product was completed three to four years ago. After that time, it was continually evolved based on our roadmap. Customer-based implementations can last for one to 12 months, depending on the scope.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?
We have had a committed and customer-focused team from Experion for the last five years for support and development. There has been very little change in time. We have renewed our five-year agreement with Experion recently. We keep industry standard metrics for the code delivered by Experion and have been extremely pleased with their work.
How did Experion Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
The reason for our project's success is the strong project and product management professionals on Experion's team. They are proficient at keeping good documentation on top of emerging technologies and managing team resources. Individuals are also committed to the team with little attrition. Most of them have been with us from day one.
Are there any areas Experion Technologies could improve?
Experion could invest more to improve their engineering [UX/UI] function. Although I should admit that they are working on this constantly.
What tips or recommendations could you share that might increase the likelihood of success with Experion Technologies?
Make sure that you "know the team" and maintain good communication – both ways. For large product reengineering, it may be useful to start small and gradually scale up.

transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
My company provides enterprise software applications for the insurance industry. I am the Chief Executive Officer of the company.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Experion?
We were looking to work with an offshore team in order to reduce costs. As part of our business model, we have a 24/7 development effort, which was another reason for reaching out to Experion.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Experion has provided Java development for our enterprise application, enhancing the existing functionalities. Another part of Experion's involvement is testing. We require end-to-end tests, which means going through all transactions, negative cases, and performance tests. Experion has built automated tests for our software. We currently use 22 resources from Experion.
How did you come to work with Experion?
We had previously had engagements with other offshore development companies, but they really didn't go well. We were looking for a new partner. One of the employees in our company knew a senior manager from Experion, and connected us with them.
How much have you invested with Experion?
The cost of Experion's services is around $65,000 per month.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with Experion in March 2014. We have an ongoing relationship.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?
We're extremely happy with the work that Experion has done for us on both the development and testing sides.
With software development, there will usually be initial requirements, after which any defects will be fixed. Experion has remained very approachable, easy to work with, and highly responsive.
How did Experion perform from a project management standpoint?
Experion works based on our guidelines, using our Java development platform. We assign them descriptions of what we want built, as well as the timeline for each task. For most of the time that we’ve worked together, Experion has delivered on time, with good quality. They've been highly responsive. Whenever we had a tight production schedule, they jumped on it, working during weekends and even through different shifts.
What did you find most impressive about Experion?
One of the challenges with any offshore software developer is that, once we have been working with them for some time, trust can be diminished. With Experion, trust is one thing which I've kept. They're a transparent and open company.
Are there any areas Experion could improve?
As with any company, sometimes there will be resources which aren't working out for us. We select them, go through the implementation process, and sometimes don't receive the right quality level. We've mentioned this to Experion whenever it was the case. They take feedback seriously and quickly gave us a new resource when necessary.

Experion Technologies developed a backend web platform as well as a native iOS application for the client’s users.
The client chose to partner with Experion Technologies because of their willingness to dedicate resources and ability to scale their efforts to the client’s needs. They note Experion’s engineering talent and good relationship ethics as their key strengths.

BACKGROUND
Please describe your organization.
Our company has built a digital health platform which helps people with heart disease in managing their condition on a daily basis. It's a remote care management digital therapy solution working as a smartphone app.
What is your position?
I am the founder and Chief Executive Officer of the company.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What business challenge were you trying to address with Experion?
As a healthcare product, our solution needs to be of very high quality and durability. At the same time, we have to deliver a high user experience which is simple and intuitive to use, especially because we're dealing with patients who are in their 50s, 60s and 70s. We were looking for a partner who would have the right expertise and experience in this field in terms of security, privacy, and HIPAA compliance. They should be aware of the latest and greatest approaches for user experience and high quality UIs. We needed the right processes for delivering a complex product on time.
SOLUTION
Please describe the scope of their involvement in greater detail.
Experion has developed a backend web platform as well as a native iOS client application for our company. They took care of both engineering and development for our solution, as well as participating in the design process for the web and iOS applications. We didn't develop an Android version.
How did you come to work with Experion?
We evaluated 3 companies, considering multiple aspects. One of those was the strength of the team in terms of being able to deliver a high-quality product through a remote collaboration, on an expected schedule. Secondly, we wanted to have a fit from a cultural perspective. The developer needed to be agile enough to work in a growing environment. We also wanted to feel comfortable with the candidate based on the projects they'd delivered in the past and their willingness to put their best people on the team. These factors led us to choose Experion instead of their competitors.
Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?
The total development cost was above $200,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our earliest engagement with Experion was at the beginning of 2014. Our first in-depth engagement started in June 2015. We're still working with Experion.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?
We just finished a product study with patients. One of the key aspects was to ensure that there wouldn't be any quality issues or bugs that could cause delays or inconveniences with users. Over the course of 2 months, there were only 2-3 delays. For the majority of our development, the system was stable and reliable.
What distinguishes Experion from other providers?
Experion provides a good combination of engineering talent and good relationship ethics. They partner with us and understand the unique business challenges of the customer, adapting to them. Experion is able to increase the number of resources and time allocated, according to project changes. Not only do they have good engineering talent, Experion is a partner which I can trust.
Is there anything Experion could have improved or done differently?
Experion should continue to invest in their technical talent in order to be able to move forward in terms of complexity.
There is some room for Experion to better manage the process and expectations, so there will be as few surprises. Delays aren't always their fault. It's simply a matter of properly managing expectations early on. Experion has done this well, but there's still room for improvement.

client over the phone. Below is an edited

BACKGROUND
Please give me a brief description of your company.
iAquaSYS is a startup IT company developing an aquaculture management program for the aquaculture industry. The principals have extensive experience in aquaculture and some knowledge of IT. They have identified a need for a comprehensive program in this area.
What is your role at the company?
I am an Executive Director and one of three co-founders.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What was the business challenge that you were trying to address with Experion Technologies?
We needed someone who could understand the operation of a food production sector, which is simple in application yet complex in interpretation of real time operational outcomes. In short, a good listener who is competent in the IT field.
What were your company’s business goals for the project?
We wanted to market our program to domestic and overseas producers, and provide analytical consultancy services through the web-based delivery of the program.
SOLUTION
Please describe the scope of their involvement in greater detail.
Experion, in consultation with iAquaSYS, is designing, developing and managing the web-based program.
How did you come to work with Experion Technologies?
We approached their Melbourne office after hearing, through a colleague, of their efficiency in a project they had completed for them.
Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?
The initial phase will cost around AUD 500,000 [USD 361,927.50].
What is the status of this engagement?
The initial components were started in 2015 and will be market ready by the end of 2016. The development of spin-offs and operation of the web-based elements are on-going.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?
At this stage, the project is a work in progress, and all I can really say is that we’re on budget and meeting the set timetable. The entire project is based on Agile methodologies, sprint driven and providing visibility into all stages of the engagement.
How did Experion Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
Extremely well. We are totally satisfied with them at a professional and personal level.
What distinguishes Experion Technologies from other providers?
As a startup company, this is our first experience with an IT company at this level. All I can say is that the others would need to be pretty good to come up to Experion. Of course, you’re welcome to ask me this question again in 12 months’ time.
Is there anything Experion Technologies could have improved or done differently?
At this time, not really.
What advice would you give to a future client of theirs?
Don’t be frightened to go to Kerala [Experion headquarters, India] and deal with the project team personally. There’s a saying among program developers that, in India, you generally get what you asked for, but not always what you wanted. Our experience has been that this is probably due to a lack of real communication. Make the effort to meet your development team and get your message across. Talk in terms of outcomes, and the rest falls into place. As I said, the Experion people are good listeners. Kerala is India Lite. The food is great and English is spoken as a first language. They call it God’s Own Country, and they’re not far off the mark.
