Experion Technologies developed a trailer marketplace platform where users could purchase trailers online, coordinate meeting times, and collect payment. They also handled the design aspects.
While the solution isn’t live yet, the internal team enjoyed working with Experion Technologies thanks to the team’s professional approach. They outlined the project in great detail and gave cost-effective suggestions, which helped the in-house team refine their ideas.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this
client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the owner and creative mind behind a new business idea that I just started. It’s a retail platform for dump, utility, and landscape trailers.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Experion Technologies?
I hired Experion Technologies to develop my platform.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Experion Technologies developed a Carvana-style website that allowed users to purchase various types of trailers online without having a dealership representative present. Their team created a customer portal where users could complete transactions, set up meeting and pick-up times, and collect payments. While I gave them a general idea of what I was looking for, they took care of all of the design as far as the colors and layout.
What is the team composition?
My original sales call was with Manoj (Co-Founder & EVP), who got the process going. From there, I transitioned to an entire team led by Aaron (Lead Software Engineer). Most of them were based in India.
How did you come to work with Experion Technologies?
I found them through Clutch. They showed up as one of the top tech companies, so I called them. I didn’t have the best idea of exactly what I wanted to do since I hadn’t really worked with projects with set-in-stone deliverables and was fairly new to the process. They walked me through the process, setting up realistic expectations around what they could do.
After that, I felt so comfortable with them that I didn’t even pursue any additional proposals. They were at such a high level when it came to their overall professionalism, intelligence, and understanding of my needs. It was all very fair and upfront — I just took them up on their word.
How much have you invested with them?
I spent around $100,000–$150,000. They priced the project by the hour, breaking down the tasks into time estimates.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together between May 2020—April 2021. I still have them on hand to continue working on this project as we’ll need to make improvements depending on how our launch goes.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The platform isn’t live yet, so I don’t have any metrics. However, I thought the team was very attentive, smart, and methodical in the way they outlined things to me. They made sure that their proposals matched what I was looking for.
How did Experion Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
We did everything over Zoom because this was during the pandemic, and their team was based in India. Every morning, I would meet with them during their night, though they were all very flexible on our timing. We also used a tool that housed all of the coding and wireframes. It was a pretty neat program, but I don’t remember its name.
What did you find most impressive about them?
It was pretty much their professional communication. Experion Technologies laid everything out nicely, was attentive to my questions (even the silly ones), and took me seriously. The team explained their recommendations to me in every situation, which was helpful since I didn’t know what I was looking for or any practical details around design and cost-efficiency.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I don’t think so.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
As long as you can basically talk out everything you’re thinking upfront, the team will be able to touch on every point that they can come up with. They’ll inform you of any potential issues or vulnerabilities that they may need to address when building the new system.

Experion Technologies provided software development and staff augmentation services for a commercial real estate SaaS company. They built code, both front- and backend, based on specifications and requirements.
The partner enjoyed working with Experion Technologies, but the learning curve of understanding commercial real estate posed too big of a challenge to continue the engagement. Although there were delays in delivery, their team still produced good work and followed specifications.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this
client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the COO of Quarem. We build commercial real estate software for companies, landlords, and commercial brokers.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Experion Technologies?
We brought them on as an outsourced software development firm to augment our US-based development team. Essentially, this would allow us to operate on a 24-hour basis.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Their team listened to what we had to say from a development perspective and then wrote the code to support that specific business case. For example, if we wanted to improve our accounting feature within the software application, they’d listen to our specifications and develop an initial frontend view along with backend support. Then, they’d review it with us.
We’d provide feedback and critique, be it good or bad, and they’d revise from there. Then, our team in the US would test it. If it met all the requirements, we’d push it to our production environment for the end-user to utilize.
What is the team composition?
We had a team of 4–5 Experion Technologies employees. A majority of them were software developers varying in skillsets.
How did you come to work with Experion Technologies?
For the past 12 years, we’ve utilized an outsourced method with different companies. Things weren’t working as well as we needed them to with our previous partner so we looked elsewhere. I reached out to a friend of mine who had a contact at Experion Technologies. We reached out to them and liked what they had to say so we executed an agreement.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent about $15,000 on a monthly basis.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our engagement was from January 2019–February 2021.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We enjoyed working with them. However, the pace we require was slower than what we received. They have smart people but having them understand commercial real estate was a big challenge that just proved to be too much. We made the strategic decision to hire onshore people now that we’ve grown so much and completely do away with the offshore model.
Experion Technologies struggled with the business knowledge of commercial real estate. That’s what led to all these delays. Their team still did good work once we explained everything. We had to spend a lot of time explaining the business application and then get them to understand how to put that into the software.
How did Experion Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
There were times where they weren’t able to meet deadlines. There was a big cultural difference in the way our teams do business, and we found that to be frustrating. We’d come to them with what we wanted to accomplish and a roadmap. However, we expressed that if that wasn’t the best way of achieving the end result, we wanted Experion Technologies to tell us and come to the table with a different approach or idea.
We found that they didn’t really think for themselves or come to the table with an original idea. They wanted our team to tell them what we wanted and provide steps one through 10.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their mid-level management, project manager, and senior leadership team members were incredible. They had a firm understanding of the US business climate and could easily adapt to US businesses. The other team members are technically astute but the pace was not what we needed. In defense of Experion Technologies, we’re a small company and can be very impatient on wanting things done extremely quickly.

Experion Technologies developed a multi-tenant distributed SaaS application for a software company. The app integrates with the company’s cloud-based ERP and has the framework to integrate with other systems.
Experion Technologies was critical to bringing the company into the cloud space and creating a framework for integration with other systems. Flexible, transparent, and thorough, the team had expertise in a number of areas. Their requirements gathering and documentation process added value.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this
client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a senior developer at a company that develops manufacturing and warehouse management software for ERP systems.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Experion Technologies?
We have several manufacturing software packages, and they are all on-premises. We needed to create a cloud-based version to integrate with cloud-based ERPs.
Experion has helped us move into the cloud space. Our company primarily does development in-house, but this was a bit outside of our realm of expertise.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Experion Technologies helped us develop a multi-tenant distributed SaaS application based on our existing on-premises application. The software provides basic manufacturing functionality and integrates with our ERP system in the cloud. The app has a .NET backend, PostgreSQL database, and an AngularJS UI framework. Experion also used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Experion not only integrated the application with our ERP system but also provided a framework for us to easily grow and integrate with other ERP systems, as well as build new applications on it. If we want to move into a different functional area, we have the framework on which to easily do that. The architecture was a key piece to this project.
What is the team composition?
I’d estimate that at any one time, there were 20 people involved, from engineers to designers to project managers. One of the things I appreciated about Experion was the breadth of their expertise. At our weekly meetings or code releases, there were experts in all functional areas.
How did you come to work with Experion Technologies?
I went right to Clutch when I was tasked with sending out the RFP. I compiled a list of possible vendors and did research in other areas, but I ultimately chose Experion based on several factors. They were very affordable compared to many other companies. Also, during the first round of interviews, they made people available to answer all of my questions, in-depth, across multiple disciplines, from scripting on the UI to design to database technologies.
How much have you invested with them?
The first phase of the project cost about $500,000. I’d estimate that we've spent about $650,000 in total with Experion.
What is the status of this engagement?
The RFP process completed at the end of February 2020, and the work started that March. The initial phase of the project was completed on time and on budget in September 2020. We still engage Experion for work as we add features and functionality.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I would give them five stars in all areas. They were 100% on time and on budget, and they remained exceptionally flexible with late changes in requirements. Our ERP system changed as the project progressed, which required us to change some things. Experion’s flexibility was exceptional.
How did Experion Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
Project management was excellent. They were very transparent with their systems. For this particular project, we used Jira and Confluence. All of our user stories were entered into Jira, and we managed it from there. We also used Bitbucket for code.
We had weekly status meetings. They released bi-weekly sprints and gave functionality demonstrations. Communication was top-notch. No question went unanswered, since people with expertise in all areas of development were always present.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They were very thorough in their requirements gathering and documentation, which led to no stone being left unturned. The project was meticulously planned and documented. In my experience, it has always been challenging when taking projects out-of-house to manage the requirements gathering process and convert those to functional stories that can be interpreted by developers and engineers. However, Experion had it down, and they did an excellent job.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They have so many resources, so it’s hard to say. If I had to pick one area, it would be UX design. Our app has multiple layers of forms, and it was a difficult task to design them, especially on a web interface. I think it could’ve been a little more user-friendly. This was a tall order, as manufacturing system users aren’t often very tech-savvy. Special care needed to be taken when designing these forms, so I would’ve liked a little more attention in designing how those forms worked.

BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of eMental Health International Collaborative (eMHIC). We are a collaboration of experts and leaders in the field of mental health, particularly digital mental health.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Experion Technologies?
We needed help building a system to share knowledge between the members of the organization.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Experion Technologies developed a custom digital platform in Drupal. Members can post, share information from events, do webinars, read our monthly newsletter, and more.
What is the team composition?
I mainly interact with Binu (CEO/MD) and Satheesh (VP, Australia Region). My team works with 7–8 people from their team.
How did you come to work with Experion Technologies?
They were recommended by a colleague, and we were aware of the work they had done in Australia. We gave them a small project and were pleased with their work, so we extended the engagement.
We started working together around January 2018, and our engagement is ongoing. They launched the first version in August 2019.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I wasn’t satisfied with the first version. The current version launched in May 2020. It has the sizzle and appeal I was hoping to see, and the feedback from key people has been quite good. The board, who are non-technical people, were wowed and quite happy with what they saw.
How did Experion Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
They do well with meeting deadlines, and they are responsive. There was a language barrier in the beginning, but communication is more effective now. We mainly use Basecamp and Asana.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Experion Technologies is flexible. Binu is an honorable man who I trust. We have built a partnership. The team has diverse skills among them, and they bring the right resources into play.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There was some difficulty in getting them to understand what we wanted initially. We started doing project management internally alongside them, and it has helped things run more smoothly.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be clear about what you want, and have effective project management on both sides.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this
client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CFO of a commercial snow removal and landscaping company.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Experion Technologies?
We do a lot of work in the field, so we were looking for software that would allow our team to track their payroll time while out in the field and process and fill out paperwork for work orders from their phones.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Experion Technologies developed the payroll software. The solution also does all of our job costing for our landscape and lawn care projects. When we sell a job, it tracks our material usage and how much those materials cost so that we can send those to the customer.
What is the team composition?
On a day-to-day basis, I work with a project manager and a business analyst. I flew out to India when we got the project rolling, so I was able to meet the whole team.
How did you come to work with Experion Technologies?
I found them on Clutch. I started looking at companies and narrowed it down by the specific industry. I broadened my scope because no one had landscaping listed, so I looked a those that served construction clients.
I contacted 4–5 companies but some of them didn’t even get back to me and others came in at five times the price of Experion Technologies. The team put a lot of detail into their discovery phase and quotes, which impressed us. It seemed like they knew what we wanted right from the start.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent about $80,000–$90,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We began working with them in October 2019 and we launched the solution in April 2020. We have them on retainer.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
It’s made a lot of things easier around here. The nature of our industry means that our team doesn’t like filling out paperwork, so we’ve seen a lot of improvements in terms of getting the information together and processing payroll.
Previously it was all done on a Google Doc that everyone could see and edit, so there were a lot of mistakes. We plan to go through phases two and three of the project, and there’ no question that we’ll do it with Experion Technologies.
How did Experion Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
I have limited software development knowledge, but Experion Technologies was able to walk me through the whole process. I felt confident not knowing the details because they had my back. They always made sure that I knew the next steps.
If I were to go through the process again, I would’ve put more detail and thought into it. I didn’t commit as much time as I should’ve and there were a lot of things that we missed during the testing phase. Every week I send them something that needs revising.
They are extremely good at communicating. The weather dictates a lot of what we do, but Experion Technologies is very flexible to work with. Every morning, we had a quick phone call to go over what needed to be done. They were also in contact with me throughout the day, even though we are in different timezones.
I knew they were staying late and working past normal hours to make it easier for us. If I wanted to make changes that were going to cost me more money, the team would always let me know beforehand and they would stick to it.
There hasn’t been an instance where something cost me more than they told me. We’ve used Basecamp for project management, as well as another tool where we can see the description of each feature of the app.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their attention to detail and communication have been superb.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, not that I can think of.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Focus on the details when you’re going through the discovery phase. There were little things that we didn’t notice right away, probably because I didn’t spend enough time thinking through the details when we were testing. That cost us more in the end.

BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the director of special projects, for a fintech strategies firm. We provide support for financial advisors in the U.S.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Experion Technologies?
We worked with a developer, and they were fine for some of the things we were working on, but we decided we wanted to get with a larger company that had more resources given the complexity of the software.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
They developed a fairly complicated, custom web app that provides quantitative analysis for financial advisers. It allows users to compare their clients’ portfolios to predetermine benchmarks. It also creates models to help them slot their clients in the right mix of holdings, tickers, and risk tolerances, to help them reach their financial goals, like retirement savings. This tool systematically uses math to analyze thousands of rows of data.
They used a derivative of Java. It’s built on WordPress so we can manage it, a PostgreSQL database, and Tableau for data analytics. It’s being hosted by AWS. They also helped set up all of our servers for testing and production.
What is the team composition?
I started with Manoj (Vice President), and I worked very closely with the project manager. We also have a business analyst, a data architect, and several other data analytics experts. There are 25–26 people on the team in total.
How did you come to work with Experion Technologies?
We did an online search and reached out to people to create a shortlist of five companies, including Experion Technologies. We conducted interviews and reviewed their samples of work.
We decided Experion Technologies matched our needs best. We got started on some smaller things to see how things would work out. We started with a requirement phase and we told them we’d see how it went and if it went well, we’d move onto development. We went through several trials before we came up with the final decision to go with them.
How much have you invested with them?
We've spent $200,000 so far. We have things moving forward that will bring it to probably $350,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in August 2019 and the work is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They’re an excellent company. I’m really impressed with them. They're focused on engineering, and when they know what to build, they build exactly to those specifications. I greatly appreciated that because I always knew where I stood with them.
How did Experion Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
Project management is spot-on. They follow a very distinct methodical process that provides documentation and a roadmap. I give them an A+ on the documentation and scheduling. They hit all the various due dates for the sprints and milestones.
They’ve been great to work with. If there was a disagreement or we weren’t on the same page, it was very easy to see what was wrong and how to get back in sync. Their processes made it very easy to continue forward without delays.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They hold very fast and tight to their process. It helps avoid bottlenecks by ensuring everything is right before we move on. It’s a typical software development process but they’ve got their own version in there that works very well.
As a result, all the people that I work with are all on the same page, which makes it very easy to work effectively and efficiently with them.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They’re completely aware of this because we’ve had conversations about it, and it was more of a misunderstanding than a problem. They could improve their graphic design and depiction of data sets graphically. Part of that is the limitations of Tableau which is the tool that we chose to render all the graphics and process all the numbers.
We expected spectacular graphics, but, so far, they haven’t been. They built exactly what we gave them, but with their expertise and knowledge of Tableau, we thought they would make it better. So far, the results are similar to what we would get if we used Excel.
They’re trying to do everything they can to remedy that situation. They're helping us move forward and are improving the graphics.

I found them through Clutch. I chose them based on the reviews from Clutch and, more importantly, my discovery calls with their representative out of Texas.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent about $150,000 so far, and that will reach $500,000 before this MVP product is done. When all is said and done, we will probably spend over $1 million.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our work together began in February 2020, and it’s ongoing. I’ll be working with them for a while; I have a couple of projects.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I don’t have metrics to speak to the quality of their work yet. My overall feedback is that they’re extremely competent, professional, attentive, and capable. My experience with them has exceeded my expectations, to be honest.
How did Experion Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
They’re very consistent, detailed, and accurate. Everything indicates that we will be on time or slightly delayed, even given the current circumstances with COVID. We primarily communicate through email and Zoom.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I’ve been impressed by their experience and intellect for how to architect and achieve something.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, not that I can think of. They might be able to have a little more creativity in their graphic design, such as when they’re doing UIs.
Any advice for potential customers?
If it’s possible, I’d suggest visiting their office in India. I went there in February, and I think it was extremely valuable to meet them in person and see their operations.

BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the president and COO of an independent insurance adjusting firm.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Experion Technologies?
We had begun a software build on a claims management system with another firm and quickly realized that they weren’t able to complete it. So we were looking to engage another partner.
We wanted security in our data, the ability to obtain all the data at any given moment, and the ability to accurately obtain that information. There were also a couple of applications within our industry that we felt could be made better and more efficient by leveraging technology.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
We worked with our IT manager to provided very basic wireframes ahead of time and Experion Technologies did the rest of the heavy lifting in terms of fleshing them out.
The team has been building the claims management system as well as a couple of associated applications that are used by our field resources and the end-user policyholder. Some of the technologies they’ve been using include React Native, .NET, and Power BI.
What is the team composition?
I have one main point of contact. The team has fluctuated over time, but on average there have been about 17–25 teammates working on the project.
How did you come to work with Experion Technologies?
After coming across Experion Technologies, we spoke to them and they were able to move very quickly.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent $1,4 million thus far.
What is the status of this engagement?
Experion Technologies came down to visit us in December 2018, and we engaged in the contract in January 2019. Our engagement is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Overall, the team has been very good at being diligent in their deliverables. We were quite naive going into the process, to begin with. As we realized that we weren’t accomplishing our goals with our initial vendor, we started to do a deep dive into further documentation.
Experion Technologies aided us in that process as well, pointing us in the direction of what would help them the most. Since this isn’t our area expertise, having them guide us has been great.
How did Experion Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
Within a week of our first meeting, they had a team in our home office for a little over a week to do a deep dive into the program, what had been done, and what we wanted to accomplish. Since we defined exactly what we wanted our MVP to be, the team has been able to hit their targets and sprint times.
We communicate via JIRA, Confluence, Zoom, Skype, and GoToMeeting. Additionally, we’ve had quarterly in-person meetings where we reflect on the previous quarter, where we can improve, and what we can do better.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their communication skills are very strong. Although there are sometimes breakdowns in interpretation, Experion Technologies does their best to flush out any question that could come up. Their project managers communicate effectively and properly set and maintain expectations.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We had difficulties relaying information. Both sides had different interpretations, even after clarifications and conversations.
Sometimes, we found ourselves with an end-product that wasn’t exactly what we asked for. However, the team has been very good about addressing those issues with very little downtime.
Additionally, from the onset, we pressured them quite heavily on what we needed without having a clear understanding of the project. Since they wanted to appease us, they went along with it. It would’ve been more productive if they had stopped us and weighed the pros and cons.
They eventually did it, but it was done much later than we would’ve liked it. But, again, it's on us; we put a lot of pressure on them because we had other commitments.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Have a clear understanding of what you want to accomplish before moving forward in any capacity. Know all aspects you want to address in your company, and then break it down into a much more detailed view for each category.

Experion Technologies used VB.NET to develop custom software for a food product trading company. The system automated sales, making them easier to track. They continue to provide support.
The system successfully streamlines the sales process and reduces the amount of time spent on each task. Experion Technologies outlined their workflow ahead of time, ensuring that everything was delivered on time.

BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the manager of a food product trading company.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Experion Technologies?
Our direct sales are done manually. It was difficult for us to track and control. We needed a company to develop custom software for us to automate our processes.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
They developed a retail product for us. Customers can place an order in real-time, while our sales team is provided with a print. Plus, they have an Android device with them. Using that, they can take the orders and if they want to collect the money from the customer, they can do that also. Everything is automated now.
We just guided them with what facilities we were requiring and they did the development accordingly. Three of them came here and stayed for almost one month for the initial discussions and framing of the project. Then they started taking the master files and started to build the product. I believe they used VB.NET.
In May 2019 we had one month of learning and then we went live starting in June 2019. The project is finished but they offer support to us. They do maintenance and upgrades.
Hardware is not provided by Experion Technologies. They only do the software side.
What is the team composition?
There is one main project lead and an additional four people.
How did you come to work with Experion Technologies?
We looked at other companies for the same sort of software but we liked that Experion Technologies had very good business intelligence tools incorporated into this project.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in January 2019 and the work is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Now we’re in full control with our sales process. It has significantly reduced our workflow and even our human resources have been reduced. Now all things are automated. There’s no need for any double entry in the ERP system. It automatically gets pushed from this retail product directly to our ERP system. We’re in a better position to control the salesforce.
How did Experion Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
There were no project management tools but they had a workflow in the beginning when we made the contract with them. We were able to finish it on time. In the maintenance stage that we are in now, we have a ticketing system in their portal and we can do all sorts of activities.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Due to the business intelligence tools they had incorporated in the product, we’re able to look into our sales and make some decision-making processes much easier.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I didn’t have any difficulties with them. We believe we will use them for updates in the years to come.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
They have customization for each and every industry sector. Based on that, they can modify your product in such a way it can satisfy your requirements.

Experion Technologies created wireframes and designs in the development of an MVP for a digital health care company. They started with a discovery phase and worked in sprints to deliver the solution.
Despite occasional delays in delivery times, the team produced a fully-functioning, high-quality product. Closely aligning themselves with the client’s mission, they showed a strong attention to detail and dedication to the development. Their success bodes well for a continued relationship.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this
client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We’re a digital health company that provides maps that allow caregivers to establish daily routines and improve quality of life. I’m the co-founder and CEO.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Experion Technologies?
We needed to create a system to create our vision. They were brought on to develop wireframes and designs that would help us visualize our goals.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
After a successful discovery phase, we engage them to build out our MVP. They provided us with wireframes for various user personas that would be engaging with our platform. Then, they created UI/UX designs to highlight how the screens, layouts, and other visual components would look and interact. From there, they presented us with a clickable prototype that we were able to use in demonstrations with potential customers and investors.
For the MVP development, we went with a traditional agile development style. That involved functional specs being turned into user stories. Those were prioritized in two-week sprints. Once completed, the user stories were deployed to app stores. They rolled out multiple updates to our product once complete.
What is the team composition?
One of their VPs and co-founders functioned as our main point of contact.
How did you come to work with Experion Technologies?
We interviewed a few firms, one of which had used their services on projects in the past. They were happy with them, so we shortlisted them. After we interviewed our options and analyzed their technical capabilities with healthcare apps, they came out on top.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent around $300,000 on their work.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started our collaboration in January 2019, and our engagement is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
While the speed of delivery is sometimes slower than we expect, the overall quality of their work is consistently high. Their outputs were proportional in quality to our team’s functional specs. If we didn’t spec things out specifically how we wanted it, we’d often have to rework some aspects of their work. Our general experience has been very favorable, which is why we continue to use their services.
How did Experion Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
Their communication has been above average. They use the Atlassian toolkit to organize and deliver within sprints. For instance, they mainly use Confluence and Jira to manage themselves.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They truly care about the work that we’re doing together. We focus on patients that are often written off by medical professionals, hoping to give them the technology they need to live with less stress. They captured our vision with their passion and spirit for our goals. We felt like they were an extended part of our team.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They could work on estimating timelines with greater accuracy. Sometimes, deliverables weren’t completed by the intended deadline. In those cases, we’d have to push back delivery dates for our customers, which was frustrating. Overall, that wasn’t the norm. As long as our specs were clearly documented, there weren’t issues.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Use them for their discovery process and MVP services. That was a great bang for our buck. As you increase the scope, the number of resources on their end will also increase. In those situations, make sure you assign a strong project manager on your end to ensure that schedules and resources align.
