Introduce your business and what you do there.

I was the co-founder of Unleash, and we provided financing for YouTube creators. However, our startup had already shut down.

What challenge were you trying to address with Exometrics?

We needed to conduct big data analytics to predict future views and revenues of YouTube channels. We were looking for someone to support our data activities.  

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Econometrics helped us gather, warehouse, and analyze data from various YouTube channels. We used them to put the infrastructure to collect data on hundreds of millions of YouTube channels. 

What is the team composition?

We worked with an account manager and 2–3 data engineers. 

How did you come to work with Exometrics?

We researched through Google for agencies that outsource the data science and engineering capabilities we were looking for. We interviewed several vendors, and Exometrics stood out as the most affordable and capable. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spent about $30,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from August 2021–January 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Exometrics successfully helped us gather and organize the data we were looking for. 

How did Exometrics perform from a project management standpoint?

Exometrics’ project management was excellent. They were very easy to work with, and they hit all their deliverables. They went above and beyond what we specifically asked and thought beyond their immediate tasks. We collaborated through weekly calls, ad hoc Zoom meetings, and emails.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Exometrics was very easy to work with — we felt they were a part of our startup. They were hungry, ambitious, and helpful; they even responded to emails during off-hours for urgent concerns. They were creative in coming up with ways to go beyond what we asked them to do.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything. They were good to work with.

Work with them — they’re fantastic. The more information you can give about your business problem, the more helpful they can be.

What challenge were you trying to address with Exometrics?

We were working on a machine learning (ML) anti-money laundering tool for bitcoin with Exometrics. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Azarel (Director) initially wrote a proposal for the scope of work and the proof of concept (POC) phase. We accepted that retainer proposal and did the first scoping exercise after five days. Then, we moved forward with the first POC. Azarel then wrote reports on their findings around the ML-based tool they created. Then, they provided us with a live demo, which we also showed to a couple of our customers. 

What is the team composition?

I mainly interfaced with Azarel, who collected the business requirements. He also worked with a couple of other team members. 

How did you come to work with Exometrics?

We used Upwork to look for skilled resources, and Azarel popped out. Our company effectively went to him as a contractor, but then our relationship expanded to include the whole Exometrics team. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $3,000–$4,000 on the discovery phase and around $30,000–$35,000 per POC.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in March 2021. When I left the firm weeks ago, the project was ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The POC was delivered on time and on budget, and it worked well. Exometrics’ delivery was comprehensive. In fact, we were pressed for time, but the team still over-delivered. As a result, we gained increased hours with our B2B customers, which was highly impactful to our business. It opened quite a lot of doors for opportunities for us, leading to greater B2B sales. Essentially, we managed to take the technology they developed and integrated it into our own services. 

How did Exometrics perform from a project management standpoint?

The project management was pretty hands-off. We simply briefed Exometrics, and then they did the work. Our teams had a couple of touchpoints, but it was quite a smooth project. Once we finished the design brief and discovery phase, their team started working. 

In other words, they were truly a low-maintenance team. They delivered a successful POC on time and on budget, hitting all KPIs one could expect from a professional firm. Overall, the Exometrics team knocked it out of the park.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Exometrics’ members were world-class data scientists, and they knew what they were doing. The brief was to create an ML-based anti-money laundering algorithm for bitcoin, and they absolutely killed it — their ML skills were top-notch. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there weren’t any. It was one of the best projects we did. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Put enough time into the discovery phase; this is key to the project’s success. Make sure that the goals are clear and understood by all parties.

For context, in our experience, the rest of our project was done successfully because the discovery phase was done properly.

We needed help writing queries against Neo4J so we could build out analytical dashboards.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Deep expertise, good to work with, trustworthy.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

They built out the queries for us as well as a prototype application for the analytics using Neo4j and node.js.

One, Azarel, who is the owner.

Work was done and the end client was happy.

They had both the technical skills as well as the project management skills to pull this off on time.
