Serving the Area Since 1950!
Eugene L. Evans Manufacturing Company was founded by my father, Eugene L. Evans Sr. on April 1st 1950.
World War II had ended and a building boom was going on in the United States. The demand for aluminum window and door awnings was very high especially since people didn’t have air conditioning. Homes were different then too. Most people had a front porch and they would gather around them in the afternoon to talk about the day’s news and events.
Our company did hundreds of porch awnings to help keep the hot sun and rain from dampening their social gatherings.
The company provided a lot of services including ornamental iron railings, asbestos siding, underpinning, venetian blinds, gutters, shutters, storm windows, carports, patio covers and screen rooms.
Many emerging businesses used awnings on their store fronts to protect their customers and offer shade from the hot sun. Today you can still drive up and down Noble Street in Anniston, Alabama and see awning after awning doing that very thing.
In 1988 we incorporated and my father turned the reins of the business over to me, Eugene L. Evans, Jr., naming me President and CEO.
Both Mom and Dad “Evelyn and Eugene” continued to work up until about 1999. My sister, Lisa worked with us as well from 1993 until 2010. Today she is a registered nurse living in Northern California.
We have always been a family business and hopefully always will be. My daughter, Sara and I now run things. We are committed to uphold the high standards of workmanship and business ethics that my father and mother set.
We have a great staff of employees, some who have been here over 10 years. In the past before the first generation faded, we had employees like Alvin Lovell, Tebo Camp, John Craft, Buddy Hurst, Larris Matson and Virginia Shirley, who had been here over 10, 20, 30 and 40 years.
We have a large list of satisfied customers and repeat customers some who have purchased over 10 times. We cover a radius of 150 miles of Anniston and do a lot of work in the Western part of Georgia.
