The EKWA Service Rig Employment Readiness Training Program goes beyond the provision of industry-specific training, a core focus is placed on nurturing essential soft skills, accompanied by continuous mentorship for participants. This comprehensive approach seeks to promote the holistic well-being of each individual, with ripple effects extending to peers, families, and communities. The program's curriculum is aligned with the entry-level proficiency standards endorsed by the Canadian Association of Energy Contractors (CAOEC). Central to EKWA's mission is the service rig training program, an innovative initiative directed at empowering Indigenous participants within the oil and gas industry. The program's success hinges on skill enhancement and the cultivation of a supportive environment that fosters participants' confidence to flourish in the workforce. The training program operates with two primary objectives: first, bolstering skills and confidence for safe and effective work within the oil and gas sector; second, equipping participants to thrive in diverse workplace settings, both on and off reserve. Through a blend of coaching, mentoring, and support, EKWA is committed to aiding Indigenous trainees in securing sustainable and meaningful employment opportunities. The overarching aim is to enable these individuals not only to attain employment but also to elevate their quality of life through ongoing mentoring. Upon program completion, participants are seamlessly transitioned into employment and remain connected to long-term support provided by dedicated mentors. The program's value lies in its contribution to nurturing a competent and reliable workforce primed to fulfill essential roles within the oil and gas industry and community-based organizations.
