I’m the president and engineering principal of C3 Medical Device Consulting.

What challenge were you trying to address with Embdes Engineering Solutions Pvt Ltd?

We produce electrical designs for customers, particularly medical device customers. I needed help with delivering printed circuit board, schematic, and general electrical hardware designs to customers.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

I work with Embdes Engineering Solutions Pvt Ltd to design products for customers following their requests. With them, we craft custom printed circuit boards for testing and manufacturing. At this point, we’ve created at least 100 designs together.

They support us throughout the entire process. In the initial phase of the project, we design the architecture of systems and how the components of the device would interact.

The next step involves a component assessment intellection. We look at each of the device’s key functions and create a weighted spreadsheet of potential options for the components. We then selected the best ones.

Their team then creates a full schematic design. They draw the schematic and calculate the correct component values to be used. Their team creates spreadsheet to automatically calculate component values and assess power budget, which was of interest to our customers.

Finally, we build the print circuit board. Embdes Engineering Solutions Pvt Ltd creates the board outlines and places components to release them for review. They support testing and generate reports. Their team follows up with routing the board and releasing that for review too.

Originally, I found them through an online freelancing site. After working with them at that level, we brought them on more permanently.

We started working together in April 2014 and the engagement’s ongoing. We have annual contracts that are renewed.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Their work is done with consistency and quality, which are critical components in our industry. They’ve had continued success on multiple designs. Their team’s reliable, which means that I don’t need to hold their hands.

How did Embdes Engineering Solutions Pvt Ltd perform from a project management standpoint?

We have weekly status meetings that are always valuable. Their team provides project updates and remains available throughout the day. We either email, Skype, or message multiple times a day. They’re responsive and willing to put in extra time as needed to get a project done. Their team’s aggressive in hitting timelines.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Typically, Embdes Engineering Solutions Pvt Ltd over-delivers on expectations. After I send a design, their team will come back with a product that either meets or exceeds my expectations.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The only area for improvement is a better awareness of their capabilities. Typically, I work with them for electronics design. I recently learned that their company does embedded software work, contract manufacture, and system builds too.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

The more a customer’s able to communicate clear objectives, the better their team will execute them. It’s difficult for anyone to get a project done without a clear understanding of it. Clear communication from the customer is helpful in getting the job done properly.

I’m the VP of Angiometrix Corp, a medical device startup. We’re working on a Bluetooth-enabled critical care product that provides information on an Android tablet.

We were trying to connect our Android tablet to multiple devices simultaneously, and we were experiencing sluggish performance. We needed a company to look at the core layer to see what was going wrong.

Embdes Engineering Solutions Pvt Ltd developed a new core library for us.

What is the team composition?

We worked with three people. One person did the development phase, and another person did testing. The development person had to leave during the project, and another person came in and took their place.

We’re a very lean company, and we defined the problem for them. I was looking for a company that did Bluetooth and IoT development. I chose Embdes Engineering Solutions Pvt Ltd from a few companies. They told me that they had prior experience working with multiple devices. They demonstrated some other projects they had done. I was convinced they were the ones to hire.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from January–February 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They’ve had a significant impact on what we do. We had an existing application that we were struggling with; it had very poor performance. Ever since they developed the new library for us, the app has been working really smoothly. Life has become much easier for us.

How did Embdes Engineering Solutions Pvt Ltd perform from a project management standpoint?

It was a smooth collaboration. The person managing the project was very helpful. He was also a technical person, and he helped us translate our requirements to their tech team. We mostly communicated over the phone. We had a weekly meeting, and we talked over the phone more often if needed. They provided regular updates.

What did you find most impressive about them?

It wasn’t a long process, but it required some precise knowledge, and they delivered. They’re a lean organization, and I could talk directly to whoever I wanted to talk to; there weren’t a bunch of management layers to work through. The person managing the project was very helpful.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, everything they did was good. It was easy working with them.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

They’re not a very big company, but they can provide an end-to-end solution. For a big project, keep it in mind that their manpower isn’t too high. They try to augment if needed. It’s always good to have a well-defined idea of what you want.
