I’m the finance director of ICAN Incorporated, a real estate company. 

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with DWD Technology Group?

We hired DWD to teach us about our accounting software, including how it worked and the tools that worked with it. Our basic objective was to save time and expedite the process with fewer errors.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We installed a new budgeting software solution, and DWD trained us to use it and helped us set up our budgeting process. The team helped us learn how to upload from our payroll software to the accounting software. We also hired them to help us with our electronic fund transfer needs so we could cut fewer checks and process account payable payments directly through the bank. 

Moreover, we had 139 apartment units and maintained all of our capital on Microsoft Excel. DWD helped us transfer the data to a software platform, which did the calculations for depreciation and amortization. It also calculated when to do write-offs when we release assets.

I worked with system consultants. 

How did you come to work with DWD Technology Group?

We found DWD through our communications with our local mental health board. They came in with a good reputation; the team also worked with nonprofits that used the same accounting software we had. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $3,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

Our most recent project lasted from July–October 2021.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our team saw a reduction in associate time to perform a function. We’ve been able to automate our budgeting process while involving additional employees in the process and providing additional documentation for upper management.

How did DWD Technology Group perform from a project management standpoint?

DWD performed excellently; they responded to our needs well. We communicated through phone calls, Zoom meetings, or Teams across different projects.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their support, understanding, and training services were excellent. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there weren’t any. I  was satisfied with them and had no complaints. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Know your current process. Tell DWD what you’re trying to achieve, and they’ll work with you to get there — or at least somewhere close to your goals based on how the systems work. The team is straightforward in telling you if something will work or not.
