​Drummond Group's FHIR® Client Testing and Certification Program offers a comprehensive framework for validating FHIR client applications, ensuring they meet stringent interoperability and security standards.

The certification process encompasses:

Standards Compliance: Verification of adherence to HL7® FHIR® specifications, including the SMART App Launch Framework and US Core Implementation Guides.
Security and Authorization: Rigorous testing of security protocols, particularly the implementation of OAuth2 and SMART on FHIR for secure data access. 
Data Handling and Presentation: Evaluation of how applications add, use, map, and display patient data to ensure ethical and correct usage.
Interoperability Testing: Utilization of multiple reference servers to simulate real-world scenarios, ensuring the application can effectively communicate across diverse healthcare systems. ​
Human-Led Review: In-depth manual inspection of application interfaces to assess usability and data stewardship.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Drummond Group provides a CMS certification program that CMS themselves do not provide. Although this is voluntary, achieving certification through a recognzied agency such as Drummond Group allows us to demonstrate our core principles of commitment to open standards and interoperability.

Drummond Group, and particularly our technical lead, Timothy, Director of Strategic Healthcare Initiatives was excellent at guiding us through the process and helping us with highly esoteric details.
