The enablement of pre-agreed smart contracts to directly interact with verified data means there is less and less of an opportunity for people to express bias into the outcome. In the case of insurance, the ability for a claims adjuster alone to approve or disapprove a claim based on their interpretation of the facts increases the potential of an inherently biased outcome because the employee has the interests of their employer at heart. When that decision making is largely moved to cryptographically protected smart contracts driven by validated data and imputed on blockchain the process becomes transparent and the need for trust is diminished simply because trust is now inherent to the technological process, not a human.
