BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

My wife and I are proud owners of our family owned business; IC Lighting. Our services include in-store consultations, sales and demonstrations. We have an E-commerce store with over 10 000 lighting products available for sale and free delivery. Our team of specialists also covers, fittings, furnishings for homes and businesses alike.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Discovery Content, and what were your goals?

Although physically located at the same address for over 15yrs, we wanted to reach customers well beyond our local area and provide the best in lighting across not just South East Brisbane, but across the state. Fairly new at the online sales game, we needed Discovery Content to develop our online presence and authority and help us promote online product sales through their PPC and SEO campaigns.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We followed up on a referral from a family friend who pointed us in the direction of Discovery Content. After considering several other service providers we felt that Discovery Content was the right team for us! Discovery Content has an understanding of small business owners, their needs, budget constraints, time and knowledge (at times) limitations. The Discovery Content team was able to help us better understand how both PPC and SEO works, how it can benefit our family owned business.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and campaigns.

From the first meeting, the Discovery Content team focused on us, our business needs, our goals and overall desired outcomes. They explained their process of site audit, content audit, keyword research, analysis and recommendation, content and website promotion, competitor analysis, local pack influencing factors and Google My Business profile.

Throughout both campaigns, the Discovery Content team included us in each step, provided us with recommendations, and allowed us to make the final choices in what we felt was most appropriate for our business. Their reporting systems allowed us to track our gradual, but steady progress.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

In the Discovery Content team, we had the one main point of call (which make things so much easier), their lead Account Manager, Nada. We also meet and had contact with their PPC and SEO specialists. Our developers (who are not a part of the Discovery Content team) also worked in developed a close working relationship with the Discovery Team who helped them implement the necessary recommendations to improve our website visibility.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Since we implemented the recommendations made by Discovery Content as they outlined in their onsite audit and keyword research, we were able to see an increase in both our online enquiries and sales for several products.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

The team was really great! They were very very easy to communicate with and were quick in their turnaround of returning calls and or responding to emails. They were good at explaining their recommendations but ultimately left us to make the final decisions, giving us total control of how we felt we should progress based on our customer knowledge.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We were really impressed with their local knowledge and their ability to make sure that we understood all that they were suggesting/analysing and how this was going to affect our site. They were flexible in their communication style (timing). They were willing to work with our in-house team to ensure that we reached overall goals, which was really impressive.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

hmmm. I think there is not much to improve on, they rock!
