The beginnings of the Diaz Foods can be traced back to 1969 when Rene M. Diaz's grandfather, Domingo L. Diaz, opened their first grocery store called Diaz Market in Midtown Atlanta. When their business quickly grew to five stores Julio Rene Diaz, Rene's father saw the need for a distribution center. Diaz Foods was formed in 1980 and at this point, Rene M. Diaz was asked to head up the new distribution center. Over the years, Diaz Foods has grown into one of the largest distributors of Hispanic food products in the United States, serving more than 6,000 customers in 25 states.
