When we set up our US operations in Los Angeles, we needed laptops for a new sales team but didn't want to buy hardware or build local IT support from scratch. devicenow provided our LA team with leased laptops on a monthly plan. The devices arrived set up and ready to use, so new team members could start working on their first day. devicenow also handles the ongoing side: replacing devices when something breaks, adding new ones when we hire, and collecting devices when someone leaves. For us, the key deliverables were a fully equipped team from day one, a fixed monthly cost instead of upfront purchases, and one point of contact for everything device-related.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Every new hire on our LA team has had a working laptop on their first day, so device setup has never delayed onboarding. We've scaled the team from [X] to [Y] people without any upfront hardware spend, and our device costs are now a fixed monthly line item that's easy to plan around. Device issues are usually resolved within [X days], and we haven't needed to hire anyone locally for IT support.

Working with devicenow has been straightforward. Devices for new hires have always arrived before their start date, so we've never had someone waiting for equipment. When we need something, whether that's an extra laptop for a new team member or a replacement for a broken one, we send a request and they handle it without much back and forth. Communication is clear, and we have a direct contact we can reach when something comes up. Since our team is in Los Angeles and devicenow is based in Germany, the time difference means some replies come the next morning, but that hasn't caused any real problems for us.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

What stood out to us was how easy they made it to set up a team in a new country. We expected equipping a US team from a European provider to be complicated, but in practice it worked the same way it does for our team in Germany. The flexibility also fits how we work. Our headcount changes with client projects, and we can add or return devices as needed without being locked into a fixed number.

Are there any areas for improvement or something devicenow could have done differently?

One thing that could be better is the overview of our devices. As our LA team grew, it became harder to see at a glance which laptops were assigned to whom and where. Better filtering, for example by team or location, would make it easier to keep track. It's a small point, though, and it hasn't affected the service itself.
