I am the CTO of an EdTech Startup that improves reading comprehension for Spanish-speaking students

For what projects/services did your company hire Develative, and what were your goals?

We wanted to develop a mobile app for parents to access and follow their children's progress from their phones. Our goal was to have a user-friendly application that was easy to integrate with our current system.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We searched for development agencies, we shortlisted three and then we decided to go with Develative because the meetings were very open to discussing different options including some technical details like documentation and unit testing with the tools of our choice

We had a couple of meetings to discuss our goals and objectives. We provided their team with designs and technical documentation about the endpoints that we have. Within two weeks, they delivered the first round of the hybrid app (React Native). They incorporated our feedback and gave the revised version. Before launching, we ran all the unit tests to ensure that all was working perfectly.

Lucas was assigned to be our main point of contact throughout the project. Additionally, I mostly interacted with the mobile developer that was in charge of our project.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Within a few months, after our app was launched, we saw over 1,000 downloads and achieved a 5-star rating in app stores. We've seen people have commented on how easy it is to use. We've gained new users and visitors because of the application.

The team was easy to communicate with and provided weekly updates. We had meetings via Google Meet and conversations through chat, but most of the feedback was through Slack. Everything was delivered on time and our team was very happy with Develative.

Their sense of closeness was amazing, it was like having additional team members in charge of an internal project.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Written status reports on each stage of the project could have been helpful so that we could track all changes, but it wasn't necessary because the deadline of the project was on time.

We were steered towards simply taking whichever devs the team had on hand at the beginning of the project. We had to request a short interview process to evaluate culture fit. I would recommend adding this in some way to the standard process as strong culture fit is very important when working with fully remote employees!
