• As Maple continues to scale across Canada, we needed a development partner that could help us expand and modernize parts of our digital healthcare ecosystem. Our objectives included improving the patient experience across mobile and web platforms, streamlining virtual consultation workflows, strengthening patient-provider communication, and creating a more efficient portal for healthcare practitioners. We also wanted to ensure that our infrastructure could support increasing demand while maintaining the security and reliability standards expected in healthcare technology. DEVDEC handled a comprehensive healthcare technology engagement that covered both patient-facing and administrative systems. Their team redesigned and developed several core components of our platform, including patient portals, virtual care workflows, appointment management modules, secure messaging features, provider dashboards, and mobile application enhancements. On the technology side, they leveraged React and Next.js for web development, Flutter for cross-platform mobile applications, Node.js and NestJS for backend services, and PostgreSQL for secure healthcare data management. They also implemented cloud infrastructure using AWS and developed secure APIs to facilitate communication between various platform components. The improvements became evident shortly after deployment. Patients reported a noticeably smoother experience when accessing virtual care services and managing appointments through the platform. Internal healthcare providers found the updated dashboards easier to navigate and more efficient for handling daily workflows. We observed fewer support requests related to appointment scheduling and patient onboarding. Navigation across the patient portal became more intuitive, which reduced user confusion and improved overall engagement. From an operational perspective, our teams spent less time managing manual processes because several workflows had been automated. Platform stability also improved significantly, allowing us to support growing user activity with greater confidence. Most importantly, the enhancements contributed to a more seamless healthcare experience for both patients and providers, which aligned directly with Maple's mission.

Project management was one of DEVDEC's strongest qualities. Healthcare technology projects often evolve as regulatory requirements, user feedback, and operational priorities change. DEVDEC adapted remarkably well throughout the engagement. They maintained consistent communication, provided clear sprint planning updates, and were transparent whenever challenges arose. Milestones were delivered according to agreed timelines, and whenever new requirements surfaced, the team evaluated them quickly and presented practical solutions rather than simply highlighting problems. What stood out to me was their responsiveness. There were several occasions where our internal stakeholders requested workflow adjustments after user testing sessions. DEVDEC responded quickly, reviewed the implications, and incorporated the necessary changes without creating unnecessary delays. The project manager maintained excellent visibility throughout the engagement, ensuring everyone remained aligned on priorities and progress.

What impressed me most was DEVDEC's ability to combine strong technical expertise with a genuine understanding of healthcare products. Many development firms can build software, but healthcare requires a deeper appreciation for user trust, privacy, accessibility, and workflow efficiency. DEVDEC consistently approached decisions from both a technical and healthcare-user perspective. Their team didn't simply execute requirements. They challenged assumptions when appropriate, suggested better alternatives, and demonstrated a clear understanding of how healthcare platforms are used in real-world scenarios. I was also impressed by their technical stack knowledge. Whether discussing Flutter mobile development, React-based web experiences, Node.js backend architecture, AWS infrastructure, or API integrations, their recommendations were practical and aligned with long-term scalability rather than short-term fixes.

Are there any areas for improvement or something DevDec could have done differently?

If I were to identify one area for improvement, it would be expanding the amount of documentation delivered during the early stages of the project. While documentation improved substantially as the engagement progressed, having more detailed technical reference materials available from the outset would have helped accelerate onboarding for some of our internal stakeholders. That said, whenever feedback was provided, DEVDEC was highly receptive and addressed concerns quickly. Their willingness to collaborate and continuously improve made them a valuable technology partner throughout the project.

• we had an app already in the works but it just wasn’t going well. things were broken, progress was slow, and it didn’t feel solid. so we brought in DevDec to help us fix it up and make it something we’d actually be proud to launch. we needed both android + ios ready to go.

i basically gave them a list of all the stuff that needed fixing  bugs, slow loading, broken parts, ui issues. They looked at our flutter code and said yeah we can work with this.
What’s cool is they didn’t just do what we asked  they came up with better ideas too. fixed stuff we didn’t even notice, improved the payment stuff, cleaned up the design and just made the whole thing smoother and better to use. They really owned it like it was their own project. Now we’re already talking about working with them again. They’re kinda our tech team now.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We’re almost ready to launch the app on app store + play store. what we have now is way better than what we started with. like it’s faster, more stable, actually looks good. What surprised me most is they worked with our old code instead of starting over, which saved us time and money. Most devs don’t wanna do that. We tested it internally and yeah, it works great. Can’t wait to hear what users think when it’s live.

really smooth. they used jira to track stuff and kept us updated every week without us having to ask. clear reports, timelines, and if something came up they handled it.
We talked on slack and email mostly, and if something needed more explaining we jumped on a call. super easy to work with.

they actually care. not just trying to finish and move on. they asked good questions, shared smart ideas, and you could tell they wanted the app to be great. Also always around when we needed them. That alone makes them better than 90% of devs out there.

Are there any areas for improvement or something DevDec could have done differently?

nah nothing major really. If i had to say something maybe a little more docs at the end would’ve helped, but overall they were great. We’d def work with them again.
