I’m a full-time director at a management consulting and accounting firm, but I’m also working on a startup idea.

What challenge were you trying to address with Dev Technosys?

I hired Dev Technosys to build an app and website for our recruitment startup. The app should be intuitive, especially in the backdrop of the current economic environment. To do that, we needed the team to work on both the app’s design and code.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We started working on this project in March 2021 by defining the app’s UX design, and that was where I spent a lot of time with Dev Technosys. We went back and forth deciding how to set up the app and website’s design in terms of wireframes and screens. 

By July 2021, we’d given them all of our feedback and reviewed everything. Then, around August 2021, we picked up the pace and worked on actual coding for the app and the website. The team used React to develop the app. We spent the next quarter working toward its completion along with the website. 

Now, we’re finalizing our requirements to get the approvals of Google Play Store and App Store. Dev Technosys and I are also setting up our backend servers; we’re migrating them from our environment to AWS for the website to go live. We’ll be live over the next month or so, and then we’ll do our marketing tasks, which we’ll do on our own. 

In terms of app features and functionality, the most important ones include a smart algorithm for recruitment. The other features are much more basic, such as setting up accounts and uploading files. 

What is the team composition?

I primarily work with two people from their side, including the senior product engineer. I directly interface with them around our day-to-day processes and for program management. There’s also a senior manager who serves as our technical guide. Moreover, Dev Technosys has a team that works behind the scenes on UX designs and front- and backend coding. 

How did you come to work with Dev Technosys?

I searched on multiple places, including Clutch, to find vendors with good ratings and digital presence. Then, I had broad-based conversations with a huge variety of firms. We sent out our initial specifications to 6–10 vendors. 

From there, we selected Dev Technosys on the basis of their capabilities and the things we were hearing about them. They also brought flexibility into the whole equation. That was the start of our partnership. 

How much have you invested with them?

So far, we’ve invested around $27,000 in the partnership. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in March 2021, and the engagement is ongoing. Our target end date is December 2021–January 2022. Then, we plan to go live in February 2022 when we’ve set up our marketing plans.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Dev Technosys quickly proposes solutions and effective ways to solve our problems. There’ve been some instances where we’re not sure how they can incorporate solutions into our complex algorithm, but they’ve come up with great ideas. Overall, they bring in the right experience to the table, and that matters to our business. 

How did Dev Technosys perform from a project management standpoint?

Dev Technosys’ project management is great. For budget, even though we’ve had a lot of scope changes, they’ve accommodated everything within our allocated cost. In terms of timeliness, they’ve developed the app and website quickly. Their resources have only spent around six months to finish everything. In fact, they probably would’ve finished them faster depending on the amount of our feedback. 

Meanwhile, they use project management tools on their end, but I’m more simplistic so I use regular calls and touchpoints to manage the project. The team has also provided us with screens of our milestones and timelines, and I’ve asked them to set those up on an Excel spreadsheet. Further, we’ve used emails and Google Chat to communicate. I’m also ok with using Skype, but emails are our primary mode of communication given our time zone differences. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Dev Technosys is great at building partnerships. I don’t feel that they’re simply a vendor, and our relationship has been constructive — I feel like I’m working with an in-house team. I like that because we always have requests for changes and feedback on every stage, and they’ve been good at addressing those things. 

On top of that, the team has all the other qualities that one can expect from other good providers. They have the technical expertise, and they’ve been proactive with changes. Their resources come up with solutions on their own, too. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there aren’t any. I don’t see anything dramatic in terms of improvement opportunities. The team ticks off all of the boxes, so to speak. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

The most important part of the engagement is the scoping and specification process. If you’ve worked with teams in India and other overseas providers, you know that the biggest issue is usually time zone differences. You’ll have overlapping times and calls, but there’s always going to be differences in your working time. As a result, you must spend much time setting your specifications correctly. 

In other words, make sure that your vision and requirements are well-articulated and communicated so that they know what you’re looking for in terms of specifications.

We asked them to create a mobile application for us.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We wanted a modern mobile application, for both iOS and Android, using the latest technologies. It is a multiple vendor software with add-on features. For example, we have a virtual try-on feature, and users can virtually select and try on the jewelry item before purchasing it. This gives them a 360-degree view of the item. 

Once Dec Technosys completes the app, we hope to renew our contract with them for maintenance support and the development of our website.

What is the team composition?

We work with several people from their team, including a project manager, developer, and marketing and salesperson. They also have a team of 5–6 people working behind the scenes.

How did you come to work with Dev Technosys?

We were looking up development companies across various countries on Google. After coming up with a shortlist, we ultimately decided to go with Dev Technosys — they seemed to be the most reliable option, and they had very good reviews.

We’ve spent about $30,000 so far.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

With their support, we now have a prototype, and they’ve done almost 95% of the work. They’ve also helped improve several features. Overall, we’re very satisfied with their services — they’ve been a great partner.

How did Dev Technosys perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management style has been excellent; they get things done on time and communicate very well. We use WhatsApp and Zoom to interact.

There’ve been delays in the project due to COVID-19, but we’re still happy with the timelines because they continue to follow through on their word.

What did you find most impressive about them?

What’s most impressive about them is their ability to come up with creative ideas and improve them further. Some companies will just deliver what we ask for, but Dev Technosys goes the extra mile to provide their own ideas and suggestions.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No — everything has been fine. It would be nice, however, if they could set up an office in UAE, so we could hold face-to-face meetings with them.

I’m the owner of an IT health and wellness company. We’re building a platform that detects early signs of eating disorders to mitigate their consequences. Our main goal is to improve the health and lifestyle of people in Asia and Australia.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I’ve engaged Dev Technosys to develop our MVP, a Google Chrome extension integrated with multiple machine learning functions and deep learning models. I’ve met with their team to discuss the extension’s main features and functionalities and provide them with the documentation they need to kickstart the development stage.

Dev Technosys has also helped us build an extractive model to track our internet activity for six months. At present, they’re helping us run a recommendation system, which links Australian users with nearby activities that match their interests. Their team will also handle the maintenance of our platforms.

There aren’t any quantitative metrics to share yet as we haven’t officially launched the products — however, we’ve tested the extensions, and everything’s running well. I’ve seen the dedication that Dev Technosys has put into the project to deliver seamless results, and they’ve thoroughly implemented every functionality into the platforms.

How did Dev Technosys perform from a project management standpoint?

Dev Technosys is a team of hardworking and accommodating professionals — they’ve adapted well to our requirements and timeline changes. We’ve encountered some delays due to compliance issues, but their team has been understanding and helpful throughout the process.

What stands out the most about their team is their capacity to understand our project needs and the different factors that affect our workflow. They’ve communicated well with me and catered to my requests to further simplify the process.

Dev Technosys has met my standards with their expertise and thoughtfulness — I have no complaints about their services.

Know what you want and need before providing a project brief. Machine learning requires a lot of tricky work, so you have to set accurate goals and requirements to launch any related project.

The app’s main function was to list cheap flights. It’s now listed on Google Play Store, and I’ll start advertising it soon.

I showed it to my team, and the feedback was positive. Dev Technosys did a very good job.

How did Dev Technosys perform from a project management standpoint?

From a project management perspective, they did a great job. The Dev Technosys team gave us their full support and helped me with any bugs. They said it would take six months, but the project lasted seven months. However, it wasn’t a problem, because I asked them to make some changes.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Overall, they did very well. Dev Technosys was very creative and gave their support when I needed it.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They have an office in India, but it would’ve been nice if they had an office in the UAE or other countries. I believe they would do well and get more business. However, they did support me outside of business hours even though we were working in different time zones.

I would recommend contacting them. Dev Technosys was very supportive — if you have an idea, they’ll show you the perfect solution and build what you need.
