BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

Oelo Lighting manufactures permanent, architectural accent lighting that never has to be removed from the building. (App controlled Christmas lights that never have to be taken down.) I am the inventor and COO of the company.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Dekaf Digital, and what were your goals?

Permanent outdoor accent lighting was an undeveloped segment of the immense lighting industry. As such we were trying to change the perceptions of millions of consumers, that it was now acceptable to leave lighting up all year round, and that you can use it for all special occasions and events. Dekaf Digital crafted important strategies and campaigns to help us deliver our message in ways that were budget-sensitive, yet highly effective.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I met Adriana at a trade conference and we began to collaborate on SEO strategies and our visions of the emerging digital marketing field. Our views fell very much in line, and I was impressed with her previous work experience. It was her ambition that sealed the deal!

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and marking tools used.

Dekaf was tasked with building out Oelo’s SEO and AdWords campaigns for our our initial product launch. Adriana and her team were in charge of managing our site updates and testing and refining messages to figure out what resonated with our target audience. This was no small task as our target market spanned people in their 30’s to 60’s and of all income ranges.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

Our primary point of contact was Adriana, however we spoke with various other team members through the build out.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

I was very pleased with the volume of traffic that we received for our investment. We learned that the sales conversion process at the time was going to be quite long, and that a long term branding strategy was going to be key to our ultimate success. Now some 5 years later that initial groundwork has proven successful.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

It was very efficient and communication was timely. In fact, the Dekaf team was often waiting for me to catch up!

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I felt like my company got the attention and professionalism of a much larger firm, yet I didn’t feel like I was paying retainers that weren’t producing results.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I was quite satisfied with all aspects of our contract and would hire Dekaf again. We currently employ an in house marketing team and Dekaf helped us reach that next level.
