What was the scope of their involvement?
We began with an initial discussion to learn more about the company and our desires for the relationship. We did market research to better understand the industry, sector, and particular market segment that we’re involved in.Then, there was the creation of a prototype of the website from scratch.

We came up with a strategy and process that best coincided with what we were looking for. The guidelines and processes we used in the past were simple, fast, and professional. While we haven’t released the websites yet, there are definitely going to be KPIs associated with their work. They’ve definitely shown through their knowledge of the various components that go into brand recognition and awareness, and they have all the necessary materials to have a successful brand and marketing engagement
How did the company perform from a project management standpoint?
There was tons of communication around deadlines. They hit most of our deadlines. Sometimes they were earlier, and then we would move up our review call to make sure we had everything we needed. We had no issues with meeting deadlines. We mostly used email, Google Hangouts, and Basecamp.
That helped us keep track of all the different people and tasks. We also had a standing meeting every week at the beginning of the project.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their communication skills and industry knowledge are impressive. I like that they have a strong understanding of our particular industry and what we’re trying to accomplish with our brand.

Our team initially mapped out what we needed and had brainstorming sessions with DD.NYC®. We discussed what we wanted to accomplish with the website. Then, they created three design concepts. We picked one concept but also combined it with the elements of the other concepts. The team moved forward with the design we liked and built the website’s pages.
After we confirmed the final design, the development started. It lasted around three weeks. They sent the website to our server manager, who uploaded the new website to our current website domain. For key technologies, the designers used Figma, and the website was on WordPress.

Their project management was great. There were never any increases in cost even when started shifting a bit and making minor changes. They followed through completely and didn’t ask for more money. Besides that, they delivered on schedule. Anjelika communicated through phone calls, texts, emails, and Zoom meetings. They used every possible avenue to stay in touch with us. Oksana was also amazing.

Even though they were in New York and we’re in Texas, DD.NYC® was able to capture our vision from the initial interview — as if they were in the same place as us. They captured the images and feel of our community alongside my vision and the company’s branding. They put everything together and met my expectations.

We provided them with a lot of different information before they started working; this included our old branding guidelines, competitor research, company information, 3D model files, and a project brief. DD.NYC® has supplied design work, coordination, vendor negotiation, and web development. The team has been responsible for creating all of our branding, including logo design and new branding guidelines.
We have added trade show design and marketing to the scope of work, and DD.NYC® has created trade show banners. Despite not being in the original scope, a large portion of the team’s work has gone towards these efforts.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Everything they’ve created for us so far has been above and beyond anything we expected, especially given the deadlines. We never worry about what they will deliver; they have succeeded even when we don’t give them much to work with.
We’ve had overwhelmingly positive feedback on the work that DD.NYC® has completed. During one of our largest trade shows, we had more people walking through our booth and more interactions than any other booth at the show. We attribute a lot of that success to our new branding.
Our biggest worry was that our branding would be too different from what people were used to and that there would be an adoption lag, but we have not seen any of that. Internal morale has increased drastically, and everyone in our company has been proud to stand behind this new branding. Our employees are excited about receiving merchandise with the new branding and can’t wait to see future changes. Our distributors are also very excited about using the new branding materials.
Our investors have been thrilled with the work from DD.NYC® and are excited to highlight the branding in a way we’ve never seen before.

We wish that their creative communication was more fleshed out. One of the challenges we’ve run into has been when we’re not working with our primary contact and don’t get the same level of communication that we’re used to. We wish we were getting the same level of creative communication regardless of who we’re working with.

Be organized and understand your deadlines and everything necessary for your specific project. Plans will change during the engagement, but you'll be more successful if you know your priority. Be transparent about your deadlines with the service provider so they know how much time they have to complete something. What challenge were you trying to address with DD.NYC®?
Our company is launching in January 2024, and we’ve enlisted DD.NYC®’s help for our branding. We’re in the nutritional powder business that targets various consumers, so it’s important to have proper brand visuals and guidelines for us to be successful.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
During the discovery phase, DD.NYC® set up introductory calls where we could get to know each other. Subsequently, they sent us an extensive form asking questions about our company to get a sense of our brand direction. They conducted their own research and asked follow-up questions that helped them figure out what our brand actually is.
I provided them with name ideas, and they offered their feedback. DD.NYC® then gave me four branding concepts. I gave them formal feedback via email for the concepts they presented. They then iterated the concepts based on my feedback, and we repeated the process 2–3 times until I gave the final signoff. From there, they started working on the brand collateral.
The collateral included PowerPoint templates and use cases for the brand. Meanwhile, the guidelines served as a comprehensive guide on how we could utilize our brand visuals. They put together brand visuals and color palettes, too.
What is the team composition?
We work with four key teammates. The founder of the business and their creative director are also involved every step of the way.
How did you come to work with DD.NYC®?
I did an extensive search on many agencies and interviewed 15 branding agencies until I came across DD.NYC®. They stood out because they were highly responsive and well-organized. The team was clear in terms of what the process with them would look like.
They were also flexible in what we could include and not include. This was good since we didn’t have a tremendous capital to spend as a startup. Their members were open and willing to have conversations about reducing the scope of work in certain areas to provide us with a more customized experience. As a result, we chose them.
How much have you invested with them?
The whole project was roughly $20,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project lasted from June–August 2023.

The team did a good job managing the project. I had no complaints since they were super timely and responsive.

They took feedback easily and delivered a high-quality product across the board.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, there weren’t any. They did such an exceptional job that I couldn’t think of a better team.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
DD.NYC® makes everything easy, but it’s always helpful to be clear about what you want. Provide proper guidance to the team. I’m sure they can navigate any situation, but the outcome is always better if the client is as responsive and clear as DD.NYC® is.

They are responsible for our branding. DD.NYC® has started with our logo and color scheme, and they also work on our website. We have a lot of meetings with different people from the company to make sure they are following what we want to do.
What is the team composition?
There’s one project manager, a creative designer, and a third person, but there are more people behind the scenes. Altogether, there might be 10 people, but we primarily work with a project manager.
How did you come to work with DD.NYC®?
They were a recommendation.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in February 2023, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
DD.NYC® works fast, and their turnaround time is good. It’s taken a while to get it ready, but we’re receiving the specific branding we’ve been looking for.

They delivered on time for an event we just had.

We would like to shout out Alana (Project Manager). She’s been very open, patient, and understanding of what we’re looking for.

DD.NYC® listens to our ideas and respect our vision. They offer suggestions but stay true to the ideas we bring to the engagement. Overall, they have been very flexible and open to hearing what we want to do.

No, they’re good at what they do.

Even if you don’t have a creative vision for your project, it’s okay because they will help you. However, if you do have a vision, it will go faster.
