Initially we engaged with Copyriders where there was a clear internal need for more content writers as tasks started piling up and we were struggling in having them completed in the standard we expected them to be. We interviewed a few companies and Copyriders were meeting our expectations both on the professional side of things and on pricing as well. 

We started by working with them mostly on content for both social, blogs (mostly) and press releases or news updates. Leter we expanded the service to market research (more on the competitive side) and in helping us fine tune our content strategy and plan. Key deliverables:

Our main KPIs were mostly around the level of the professional content generated around the topics discussed, quick turnover, responsiveness and creativity - As this were more of a PMM extension role we were expecting them to meet our standards and be openminded as possible for tasks (projects) to be produced as accurately as possible to avoid back and forth and investing too much time on each item.

Not really for the scope we used their services for. There is always room for improvement and when considering content there is a limited amount of topics one can cover in a deep and professional matter. This requires the involvement of internal teams or personas and with that promise that the quality of deliverables meet our expectations.

I’m the owner and co-founder of CXENTIAL. We help companies optimize their customer experience (CX), focusing on the customer support side of things. Our specialty is working with companies in the gaming industry. Oftentimes, we collaborate with other service providers to help those gaming companies improve their positioning in the market through prospective client outreach, as well as with social media and online positioning overall.

What challenge were you trying to address with Copyriders?

As mentioned, some of our clients are BPO service providers working with gaming companies. These clients want to create knowledge-based content that shows that they know what they’re talking about when it comes to player support. Thus, my main challenge was finding a company that could help me write specific content that appealed to gaming companies, tackling the needs of the service providers I work with.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Copyriders helps us with specialized content writing for our end clients. Initially, I provided them with a brief detailing the writing style and general structure I was expecting. I’ve been in charge of creating the content strategy, especially in the beginning.

Therefore, I simply give Copyriders the topic or every content piece I need them to write. I also provide them with bullet points to give them the right direction. From there, they sometimes do further research to come up with the right arguments and write articles or blogs as needed.

Copyriders has also been in charge of coming up with relevant topics for content, as well as with the hooks we would use in order to write the thesis about those topics. In addition to that, they’ve helped me create a content calendar for one of our clients for a 1–2-month period. Still, their services mainly revolve around content writing. They’ve helped me write different content pieces, including long-form content, short-form content, and white papers. 

What is the team composition?

I work directly with Pablo (Founding Partner), who has worked with different teammates within Copyriders to deliver content. However, I’ve never spoken to anyone else.

How did you come to work with Copyriders?

I posted on LinkedIn that I was looking for copywriters that had specific experience writing for the gaming industry, and Copyriders reached out to me. They shared some general information about their services, and I had them write an article to try them out and see if they would fulfill my needs.

I ultimately selected Copyriders over their competitors due to various reasons. Firstly, they had specific experience within the gaming, Web3, and blockchain industries. Secondly, they were very responsive and engaging from the beginning. Finally, Pablo is based in the same city I’m in. Thus, it would be more convenient for both of us to meet in person every now and then.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent between $3,000–$4,000. At the peak of our engagement, we paid Copyriders around $750 per month, and that period lasted around six months.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in September 2022, and our engagement is ongoing. However, Copyriders’ bulk of work was done for a specific client. I stopped working with that client, so our engagement with Copyriders has been reduced. They still work with me to create content for other clients, but that content is minimal. As soon as we require more content, we’ll increase our engagement with Copyriders again.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Copyriders helped us produce two pieces of content per week for our most relevant client. Throughout that engagement, we saw the client’s follower base double, going from 2,500 to over 5,000 followers within 2–3 months. The content we published helped that client achieve significant growth.

How did Copyriders perform from a project management standpoint?

Copyriders has always been very responsive and quick at turning around content pieces. Whenever I provide them with instructions for a content piece, they deliver the first draft within 1–2 days. We communicate via Slack, and it seems as if Copyriders is always available, even during the night and on weekends. Whenever we need something, they always respond.

In addition to Slack, we have Zoom calls with Copyriders every now and then. We’ve also met in person three or four times throughout the engagement to make use of the fact that we’re in the same city.

Additionally, Copyriders has always stuck to the budgets we agree upon. For example, we sometimes put a cap on the number of words in an article. If they end up exceeding that cap, they still charge us the amount we agree upon.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Copyriders’ responsiveness, flexibility, and expertise in the gaming industry are their main strengths. When working with a new content writer, clients usually need some time to fine-tune and ensure that the service provider writes in the style they require. Copyriders has been very flexible in that regard.

Although some content pieces have been great right off the bat, there have been other pieces needing adjustments. Still, Copyriders has always been very fast and flexible at making those changes, which makes them unique. On top of that, their pricing is very competitive.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would be great if Copyriders were more projective at researching certain topics. Sometimes, they expect me to come up with the entire framework for the article. However, it would be better if I could simply provide them with the topic and some short pointers, and they could take it from there.

Still, I’m sure that research is something Copyriders could do, but it’ll require a longer engagement. As we continue to get to know each other better, they’ll be able to take over more parts of the process. However, we’ve had a relatively short engagement.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Ensure to set the right framework detailing your expectations for the type of content, style of writing, and content structure. Additionally, provide Copyriders with clear instructions on the output you expect for each content piece.

Although that advice seems like a no-brainer, people tend to provide a topic and expect an external writer to develop content exactly as what they have in mind — it doesn’t work that way.
